I tend to weigh myself daily, though it does get frustrating at times. However, the weights I really watch are weekly weigh-ins. Not sure on measurements, I've only taken them once so far, and while I might measure weekly, I don't expect there would be a lot of change week-to-week. Monthly measurements would be more likely…

that sounds really tasty - I might have to try that. Love sweet potatoes, and while the wife will occasionally make fries or something out of them, they're great just with a little butter, salt & pepper. Though adding a bit of sour cream doesn't hurt :p

Nice. I started seriously at about 212 in January (though I was up about 10 lbs above that a few months earlier), and am now down to about 203-204. Under 200 is in sight, but I'm not quite there yet.

Managing weight with PKU can be a struggle. As I said, I've been dealing with it my entire life. In theory, it should be easier with good diet adherence, though I haven't noticed a major improvement since going back on the diet (except when I first started and could eat less protein - and therefore was eating so little I…

We're running a weight loss contest at work right now, and I swear this office (we have 3 locations) is trying to sabotage everyone  There is almost always some kind of treat around. Currently, there are chocolate brownies with peanut butter icing. Or there will be ice cream, or doughnuts, or...there will be a…

Married 8 years, together 13. We get along just fine, which is pretty impressive...on both sides. ;)

@patmonroern I used to live in Hamel before I bought a house in Collinsville

For me, a few things: 1. prevent having a heart attack at 43, like my dad did (I'm 42 now) 2. I'm sick of all my joints hurting, and want to still be mobile 20 years from now, and beyond 3. prevent developing diabetes. My blood sugar was on the high side the last time it was checked, and that's something I do NOT want.

I won't be offended if people decide they want to join the existing group linked above by Ceci_O_K. I find searching for groups a bit of a chore in MFP, so it's easy to miss existing groups, I think.

Thanks for the idea & for getting us started!

Ok, I created a group, but I'm new to MFP, so it might need a little tweaking: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/104471-friday-weigh-ins

I'm looking at losing 45 lbs. I'm down 8 (so originally I needed to lose >50).

I'd be happy to join in - we're doing a weight loss challenge at work right now, and Friday is our weigh-in day, so I'm already weighing in on Fridays. Having the weekly weigh-ins & someone to chat with about the results has been helpful in motivating me to keep on track.

Looks like there isn't a lot of activity here, but as I'm new to MFP, thought I'd post. I was also diagnosed at birth, and in my case, taken off diet at age 3, but monitored to age 6. At the time, they thought I had hyperphe, hence the earlier age off diet. It turns out I actually have variant PKU, but I'm not sure they…

Live in Collinsville. Not from this area originally, so my high school is kind of irrelevant.

42, just re-committed to getting my weight down & improving my health. Been struggling with weight all my life, complicated by having PKU-requiring a low-protein diet. Have lost 6 lbs in the past month and have about 45-50 lbs left to lose.

Hi. I'm 42, been dealing with excess weight all my life. Just recommitted to losing the weight in Feb, and have lost 6 lbs. in the past month. Hoping to keep that going. Need to lose about 45-50 lbs more, so this is just the beginning.

I've always eaten fast. Haven't found a solution yet, though I occasionally remember to try mindful eating-got the idea watching HBO's The Weight of the Nation.
-
I have a tendency to want to snack when I get back to my desk after my lunch break. I just remind myself that I just ate and am not really hungry (I figure it might be stress), and if that doesn't work-I get up & move around.

I walked about 3.5 miles. As I can, I'm aiming for 5 miles a day.

42 year old male here. Here are my numbers: Leg press-180lb (-my leg muscles are strong enough to lift more, but my knees can't handle more weight) Leg curl-90lb Bicep curl-70lb Chest press-100lb lat pull down-100lb My take on your goals-I agree with the poster who said just try to do a little more each time. As you can, I…
