  • @Max0727 - spill your guts (so to speak). How did you do it and how long did it take to get to 226? Details please....
  • First, I want to thank EVERYONE for your input. It’s humbling that I posted a question and so many of you took the time to offer your suggestions voluntary. It’s obvious that each of you want to help each other out - and hopefully when I am further down the path of this journey I can pay it forward. Now, @Pav8888 - have…
  • I tried doing the diet on my own - portions and getting the right macros just didn't work out. While NS is not end-all be-all, I have to get my body weight down to something I can manage. Once I am at a point I can try to figure stuff out on my own. But at this point, I know my portion sizes are correct, and my macros are…
  • No idea at all. I let my fitbit track my steps here but I don't manually post any workouts. I'm just not going to count TRX workouts. I am afraid I will overstate my calorie burn and I would much rather underestimate than overestimate.
  • I’ve had two experiences with PT’s. Experience #1 - The PT was more interested in looking at women in the gym than my form. To test my theory I was counting reps and actually didn't perform three reps but kept counting like I did. He didn’t notice. I would be on a machine and some female would be on the machine next to me.…
  • Hummm, wow - I seemed to have created a firestorm in a short time. Sort of like I threw a turd into a swimming pool! So, I have learned a lot in a short time just going back and reviewing all of this. Everyone has contributed so much info. @PAV8888 I would say that you have forgotten more about weight loss and nutrition…
  • Thanks @pav8888 . Well I guess I just exceeded the 'Highly Active' category - which is totally opposite of how I was a month ago. I have been slowly working up to 10K steps a day - yesterday I hit it and today I am at a little over 16K. While I am majorly tired and my hips are pretty sore - I mentally feel great. I'm…
  • My settings should be dialed in perfectly - I use Fitbit Aria to measure my weight and body mass - it automatically sends that to Fitbit. Then Fitbit syncs my weight to MFP along with my exercise. The only thing I actually enter is my food.
  • I am a HEAVY male - 5'11, 254... Although I was at 275 beginning of the year. Just sayin. - Kriss, what is TDEE and NEAT?
  • First, congrats to you! Being sober for 10 years is no small accomplishment in itself. And the fact that you coupled that with a healthy lifestyle - that is a lot to be proud of! I have been researching this on the discussion boards for the past two days and thanks to all the great posters, I think I understand how this…
  • LOL! When we were at a resort in Cancun last summer we discovered Don Julio Tequila shots..... And yes, I'm not a viking but ......
  • I have looked at this but never paid it much attention. However, I had an idea after reading this thread. I am going to post each days prediction in Outlook Calendar 35 days from the prediction date. Then when I get there, I will see how accurate it is. I don't expect it to be spot on every day, but I am going to look for…
  • Thanks. Not that I am kicking back 500 cal of booze a day (can anyone actually function doing that) but for argument sake, looking at an extreme example, I was curious how it works out.
  • Thanks all for the great tips! The scale is moving with the Nutrisystem, but very slow. That is why I want to step it up so I don't get discouraged and head back to old habits. For the TRX users, did you start off with professional training? There are several trainers close to where I live. There is also a Groupon for 2…
  • This is all very interesting. I just started Nutrisystem. I am keeping below 1500 calories daily and the pounds are starting to come off. That being said, several people have told me that I will stall out if I don't starting adding exercise. I am not a gym person. I'm (slightly) over 50 and work a ton of hours weekly. The…
  • HI Alex! My wife and I have been on this journey for the last 12 months. My wife is exactly where you are. She started at 230 and is now down to 178. I started at 280 and am down to 228. Using the support system on this site as well as Fitbit has made all the difference. Feel free to add us both - my wife (aringold1) as…
  • It's been a while since I've posted but looking at all the before and afters really got me inspired. I'm within spittin' distance of my 70 pound bear. Annette and I have a week long trip to Sandals in Jamaica at the end of the month and my goal is to have that little furry 70 pound dude before I leave! So, here is where I…
  • Thanks Val. Still got about 21 pounds to go. I'm really really really hoping I can hit goal this summer and go into maintenance mode.
  • Here is where I am so far - still a work in progress...
  • I am just seeing this too. A friend once told that if I want to impress girls at the beach that I should put a potato in my speed-o. But when I did, they all ran away. It was then that my friend told me the potato goes in the front!
  • I had the meatloaf and mashed potato last night. It looked nothing like its box picture. It wasn't horrible but out of my 4 months on NS, this one is pretty much at the bottom of my list. Glad I only ordered one to give it a try. I'm doing the Santa Fe Chicken tonight. I've had that one before and love it.
  • Peggy - don't sweat it. There is no way you could gain 3 pounds of fat in 36 hours. I'll bet that you ate a truck load of sodium and what you are seeing is water weight. Drink loads of water (I know it sounds counterproductive) and re-weigh in a couple of days. You will see a drop.
  • One important thing to Jen's post. Be sure to save your partially used cards. For example, last month's order was $370. I entered 4 cards which took the balance to zero. However, NS will not let you have a credit balance, so there was still $30 on the card. I will use it the next month. I've heard several stories of people…
  • Could be a veggie issue. Not all veggies are created equal. There are two lists of veggies on NS. Some are unlimited and some can be really limiting. For example, you can eat romaine lettuce until you start passing wicker furniture without an issue. Can't do that with sweet potatoes. From the NS main menu, go to recipes…
  • Close - That is from the late, great Lewis Grizzard - rest his soul!
  • It's really personal preference. My wife is religious about once a week - no exceptions. I, on the other hand, weigh every time I walk by the scale...
  • Mike, The South does not claim the Dallas Cowboys!!! :p
  • Totally awesome weigh in - 4 pounds down this week!
  • I had the same issue - until I figured out the problem. Now when I go into the office, I offer to get 'nekkid' - the nurse then subtracts the offending pounds rather than get a show!
