Not a great week Previous weight - 68kg Current weight - 66.5kg Not great on the diet and snow cut down my exercise. The further cause of the low spirits is that we lost both the heating and water for the best part of this week. I am not sure if this will get to the group as I am finding the communities section of MFP very…

Hi Elaine, Keeping the net carbs down is difficult (but it does work). Don't let any set back get you down, just start again and get the next set of lab results better. Cheers Alan
-
Thanks David. That does look like the only way to do it. I'll drop you a message about the possible copy of the file which would be very helpful. Cheers Alan

Very well done. Many of us saw ourselves overeating during the pandemic with the inevitable consequence of weight gain. You, however, managed to do something about it. Excellent progress.

Bread is my Achilles heel. I need to avoid buying it. If I have it in the house I'll eat it and then immediately regret it as the carbs/calories are always too much and push me out of my diet. The trouble is nothing is as good as bread - so best not to have the temptation.

I'm another one who suggests a couch to 5k program. I too hated running and it is still too early to say that I like it, though sometimes now (after a run) I have a short lived pleasant feeling of success. Pacing seems the key so as to build up stamina, if you go too hard too early it can be hard to keep up the work.

Hope you find this group helpful. Keep at the work of keeping things under control

Difficult not to think summer is better than winter when walking in mornings like this

I'd echo tinkerbellang83 's thoughts. I like the vivoactive 4s. The waterproofing is very valuable and getting access to amazon prime music on the go is a bonus. Battery life is excellent.

I think the main thing about intermittent fasting is that it stops the nighttime snacking :-)
-
Yes, it is quite counterintuitive

I can sympathise with your sister now that I am in Snowdonia every trip includes a steep hill

It might be due to underestimating portion sizes. I used to be very bad at that and consistently underestimated how much I ate. This left me disappointed that I didn't lose the weight I thought I should. A period using scales to measure out how much I actually ate got me back on track. Good luck

I habe wasted time on many of these but usually come back to Garmin. The sports functions seem better, it would just be nice if it could link to some diabetes apps

If you are going to avoid the keto and intermittent fasting then perhaps the mediterranean diet woudl be good for you to consider. This with a focus on getting your weight down to target should help. Also look at getting enough cardio and strength exercise in your plan if your job is sedentary. Just be sensible and…

I didn't find anything had a great effect on the early morning high sugars (evening snack, med timing, etc) until I got control of my weight. In my case this was with reduction of carb intake.
-
Good luck. It is so easy for the weight, and the sugars, to creep back up. I know from personal experience. You did it before you can do it again, keep at it.
-
Burnout can mean you let monitoring slip. It does for me. However, that is usually the first step brgore I notice my sugars creeping up. I then get a fright and start to be more active in monitoring

It seems very quiet from a viewpoint in North Wales. Pity

Thanks, that was a readable piece and quite inspiring

Getting back to the gym might be a possibility. However, I think I am fooling myself - I like this solitary exercising as there is nobody to laugh at my efforts
-
That is excellent. Keep at it. I got into remission but slipped again and now trying to get back to where I was. It is great hearing of success stories to keep the motivation going. Thanks

Really easy and really nice is "Briam" or Greek ratatouille. * 3 courgettes/Zuccinni cut into 3mm slices * 1kg potatoes cut into 3mm slices * 2 red onions cut into 3mm slices * 100ml olive oil * big bunch of parsley chopped (or dried stuff) * salt and black pepper (generour seasoning) * 1 can chopped plum tomatoes Lay in a…

Well done Heidi. It can be hard but, as you show, it is eminently possible.

It really is a difficult question. The effects of masks is quite small and mainly to protect others from any infection the wearer may have. While I wear one when out shopping or in public buildings I sometimes worry if it has a negative effect on my own risk. I worry that any sense of security teh wearing gives will make…
