I'm curious as to how long they've managed to keep that up.

That's good work!

---This thread pretty much has it all. Only thing missing is the "you are working out now and muscle weighs more than fat" argument.--- Oh, I thought we covered that! When you work out, your fat cells go into a Metamorphosis Phase and then they turn into muscle cells, which weigh 27% more. But as a woman, you have to be…

I'm not smelly!

Also, don't eat right before bed. Your body does not digest food unless you're awake, so going to sleep right after eating means the food undergoes cell division inside your body, and it's like you ate twice as much.
-
The chemical compounds in diet soda attach themselves to the cell membrane of fat cells, causing them to be 27%bigger, which then triggers Starvation Mode.
-
When someone is first starting out, to me it seems best to keep things simple. CICO is simple and it's effective.
-
"For any diet or way of eating- one must be at a caloric deficit. Its that simple." She's right.
-
By far, the most likely culprit is something isn't getting measured correctly. I promise I'm not advising lowering your calorie goals below 1200 ;)
-
lol... I'm starting to understand why so many new users struggle to figure out why they aren't losing weight.
-
She's not losing weight. That means she's eating too much.
-
I kinda wanted to know what that was, too lol
-
lol, I was just thinking, "If I DON'T skip breakfast, I'll end up eating everything!" Everyone has to figure out their own body.
-
I see! FitBit is the only device I can call by name. The main point I was trying to get across was that overestimating exercise can cause problems, just like underestimating calorie intake.
-
Accuracy is definitely key. The other day I simply wanted to find 'boiled chicken leg with no skin.' I found one entry that listed a 95 gram leg at 181 calories, while the entry directly below that one said a 125 gram leg was 112 calories!
-
Right on. The reason I asked about your total calories was because you had used the word 'net.' Oftentimes, people consume, for example, 2000 calories. Then their FitBit or whatever that thing is tells them, "You burned 800 calories on your ten minutes walk!" So, they've actually consumed 2000 calories, they then subtract…
-
Above you mentioned you are NETTING about 1300 calories per day. How many calories are you consuming per day in total? If you aren't accurate on how many calories you burn during exercise (I see a lot of people do that :/ ) then your 'net' calories not be accurate.

I agree that speaking up in some way would be appropriate. Perhaps you should have a sit-down with your mother---talk things over and make it abundantly clear that you're concerned for her.

I've still got a good bit more work to do, but this is from 286 to 200 pounds.
-
Ugh, sorry, one more thing... The hunger will subside. It'll get easier, ok? Until then, tell yourself that being hungry means your body is burning through all kinds of fat!

A few tricks I've learned: Use drugs. Folks will scoff, but it's hard to argue with results. I dropped from 286 to 200 pounds from February to October of last year. I used prescription phendemetrazine under the supervision of a physician. People above mentioned fluids and I totally agree. I regularly drink water and lemon…

I believe in you!

The scale is one of many tools, just like the measuring tape. Be honest. Be steady. Finish the drill. Do that and the positive results will come.
-
I used prescription phendemetrazine to lose over 80 pounds from February to October of last year. As stated above, it's a tool you can use, just like MyFitnessPal and a food scale are tools. I'm somewhat of an anomaly because I have Crohns disease yet I've also been overweight or obese most of my life. (Most Crohns…

That machine will be faster at the track now! Great work, my friend.
-
I've hit plateaus before. And, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I was guestimating my calories. One of the key things I've done to consistently lose weight is to consistently log my calorie intake.
-
"I feel great." Just make sure you are actually feeling good---don't try to pretend you're feeling great!
-
I don't get 'irked' but it is amusing when people tell me how I'm wrong. My general response is, "Right on... Hey, raise your hand if you've lost over 80 pounds!" *I raise my own hand.* "Oh, just me? No one else here has lost over 80 pounds? Huh...that's SO odd!"

I'm not familiar with the 'military diet' but the name of this post made me chuckle. 'Military diet' reminded me of stacking my plate with pancakes and eggs and bacon and grits, sausage, French toast, cantaloupe...just mounds of food...so lovely... Then you sit down to eat this kingly feast and a drill sergeant starts…

You're good. Stay under your goal on a routine basis.
