talking to teens about their diet

I work with teenagers. Two guys were telling me about a diet that they were doing. Basically they don't eat all day. They suppress their apatite by drinking black coffee or carbonated water. Then they workout, and then they eat anything they want. I tried telling them that they can't get proper nutrition that way, but all they want is to lose weight and gain muscle.
Any ideas on what I can say to them?

Say anything you like. They're teenagers though and probably won't listen.2

Explain that it is not a long-term solution for either weight loss or muscle gain.0

Sounds like intermittent fasting.
If they told you they eat anything they want then take it at face value. They probably have a 2-hour window each day where they shovel in food.0 -
I'm curious as to how long they've managed to keep that up.0
