  • You can freeze extra firm tofu, and then thaw it out and press it. It totally changes the texture and makes it more "chicken" like. I am a veggie with a carnivore hubby, and this is how we do tofu to make it more palatable for him. You can dip slices of the thawed tofu in a bit of yogurt and then toss it in Shake and Bake,…
  • Personally, I find Cream of Wheat a little bland, because I like chewy bits in my hot cereal. Have you tried steel cut oats? Or Red River cereal?
  • Can you eat chia seeds? Quinoa? I have stomach issues too, and I find that I can tolerate brown rice protein. It doesn't taste great, but I mix it into some unsweetened applesauce and that helps. It has about 16 grams of protein per serving.
  • It's great that you have increased you calories and are at a healthy BMI. The missing period might be a result of another issue. it would be a good idea to visit a gynacologist who can point you in teh right direction.
  • It can take time for your cycle to return. Are you able to visit a gynecologist?
  • I think that if this works well for you, go for it. You know your body best. Others may find that their mileage varies, but this doesn't mean that what you've found isn't valid for you.
  • We are the same age and have the same goals! I have started wearing a pedometer and making sure to have a minumum of 10,000 steps. I am also eating my recommended calories on MFP, and not eating back my exercise calories. It's really hard to lose weight when you don't have a lot to lose, but hang in there, it will happen!
  • I will put on between 5-7 pounds of water weight the week before. It resolves itself by the second or third day after my period starts. I don't weight myself during "shark week" because I already feel awful, and seeing the scale go up makes me feel worse.
  • If you can, get your hands on a copy of the cook book Isa Does It. It's all vegan recipes that are really great for both vegans and carnivores. I cook for my non veggie friends all the time using her recipes.
  • One of my favourite recipes is super easy and quick! Brown up an onion and some garlic. Dump in a bag of frozen peas, and add enough veggie stock to cover. Simmer for 15 minutes until teh peas are sofetened, and then puree with an immersion blender. Squeeze a bit of lemon over the top before serving. This soup also freezes…
  • The bar is the implant that goes in your arm, right? I've never used it, but I've had friends who used it and all experienced pretty significant weight gain (10 or more pounds). I think that individual sensitivity to hormonal changes is really different, and not all women will experience the same side effects.
  • As long as you are losing and feel well, it's probably fine. If your weightloss stalls, you can reexamine your macros and made adjustments.
  • Do you have one day a week that you can set aside for meal prep? This has been really helpful in keeping me on track. On sundays, I make little containers of cut up veggies, hardboil some eggs, make containers of salad and a big pot of vegetarian chili or black bean soup that I divide up and put in the freezer. That way,…
  • How is your potassium intake? Sometimes low potassium can cause cramping.
  • When I used to do fitness competitions, I had HUGE weight fluctuations after my cutting week, when I went back to eating more carbs (even though they were healthy carbs like brown rice and sweet potatoes). I tried to increase my water intake and watch my sodium to help minimize the water weight gain, but there was really…
  • Weigh and measure your food, and enter it faithfully into MFP. Also, find an excerise that you enjoy. Do you have a pedometer? Wear it every day and make sure that you are getting your 10,000 steps. Make sustainable changes that you can stick with every day, from now until your trip, and afterwards. Good luck!

  • If you're more tired then usual eating like this, it's probably not great for you. What if you ate some of those calories (maybe 300 or so) in the afternoon? That might be just enough to carry you through into the evening.
  • Look into probiotics, especially if you suspect that you have digestive issues. I have IBS, and no matter how thin I am, my stomach is always a bit bloated. I take Align and Florastor (both probiotics that I rotate) and they help a lot. It might take time to find the right strain of probiotic for your particular issue.…
