  • I have. Felt amazing! Didn’t have the headaches and all. I am not much of cook, so was lucky that a local service (Chicago) does prepared Whoel30 meals. If you have similar - great option. Otherwise, meal prep.... think through a day or 2 ahead and have plans so you aren’t tempted by non compliant choices. Whole Foods…

  • Success. I had 1/2 of the sweet potato fries and a plain burger patty - no bun - with lettuce, tomato, onion, + condiment Cals ...and 2 Amstel Lights. Not the most exciting meal, but success. And didn’t take any of the nachos someone bought for table. I felt very powerful in my own decision making. Thank you all for…
  • Good ideas, thank you. Unfortunately savory, salty food would be my vice (so a bar food menu is tough to navigate), but I think the chicken patty or wings ideas are good. ...and I promise to NOT be that girl at table talking calorie count (I know how annoying that can be.)
  • I’ve done both ways. One key question is classes - do you like your routine & self management on your own or do you get fitness inspiration from different type class environments & the community that a gym offers? If the later, a gym might be worthwhile for long term motivation. Maybe try a trial at a gym to see if you…
  • While I have not had testing done, a friend (an older woman) had testing done and came back with similar results - what seemed like a shockingly slow metabolism meaning less than 1000 calories to lose moderately. She had testing done at same time my mom did, and their results were 100s of calories apart despite similar…
  • I have been making a lot of burrito bowls lately - cauliflower rice, ground taco beef, avocado, salsa... could add some Blk beans too if you wanted. Satisfies the Mexican cravings and quite low calorie & carb.
  • I love the Whole 30 for breaking eating habits, esp. sugar. I too feel that addiction... When it gets to that point I go cold turkey and follow the program for just 30 days. I feel my body begin appreciating berries and veg & fruits & craving those over my reg tastes. It lasts for long time after too, I learn to eat…
  • Just saw your post and wanted to thank you for sharing. I aspire to that mindset - living a healthy lifestyle vs. just “on a diet.” It’s amazing to be reminded it works! Thank you and congratulations on your efforts.
  • Thank you all! I missed this community! You never fail to deliver wisdom & encouragement. Thank you for your links, personal learnings, and encouragements - they truly are helpful. I wrote a few on post-it notes for my vanity as reminders. Logging everything, logic about each excision independent of the next, and avoiding…
  • Hello all! New member. Finally digging in with concerted effort to combat this weight. 38, single, professional who travels often for work. I just completed the Whole 30 to kick off this journey and feel great! Focused on healthy whole foods and tracking calories. Beginning workout plan too, starting with walking. Long way…
  • Blood pressure checked at doctor appt and it is back in normal range! 110/75! It had slipped high as weight maxed but so happy again in healthy range!
  • I am exactly where you are and just a little behind you on Whole 30 (I finish early next week 2/21/17) and I love it! I feel like a million bucks, stated working out again. I just feel so ready to conquer this weight thing . Anyone who says just elimination is wrong - I am relearning to eat. I learned I had will power when…
  • I am obeying - though I have always used other measures more than scale for tracking regularly (scales cause me anxiety so I don't force the issue but monthly anyway.) I already feel better in first week and clothing feels better (I think bloating related.)
  • I travel too and it is hard! Sadly chain restaurants have the most nutrition transparency & portion consistency so they have become my friend. Sushi is also workable starting with miso, edamame and either a roll or sashimi. Good luck - just 1 healthy decision at a time and if you feel off track on one just regroup for next!
  • I am same. I have been working hard at weight loss for over a month now and still haven't weighed in. I feel it in clothes but want to see a big # on scale or worry I will feel discouraged. I am working up courage for next week as I know important tool in managing eating in long run.

  • I have been using for a few weeks and really liking it. It is a constant reminder about your activity and a subtle urging to do more if not moving and reinforcing if you are (plays on any competitive streak too :). I looked at other fitness trackers but liked the multi- functionality Apple offered and the text messaging,…
  • Thank you both sjiomial and foamroller for thoughts. I appreciate getting perspectives from those who have been at this for awhile. Thanks again.
