  • ^This. The media demonizes cholesterol as a scare factor for promoting diet plans that you will pay for if you're stupid. Your brain is mostly made up of cholesterol. Cholesterol in food does not directly raise blood cholesterol.
  • ^This. Just eat a whole food diet, minimize processed food, get adequate dietary fat and protein without neglecting fiber and micronutrients. It's really as simple as that. No real benefit or need to time nutrition.
  • Black, good quality whole coffee beans, ground with a burr grinder, and brewed with a French Press. Tons of tutorials on YouTube. I like mine iced with one Splenda.
  • Stop worrying about that. From a calorie standpoint, it's inconsequential and too laborious to track food like this for the rest of your life. Just make sure that you're getting adequate daily fiber. Very bad things can happen to your digestive system long-term if you eat a very low fiber diet. Unfortunately, this is one…
  • Read the label. Know your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). If the ice cream fits your macros and daily calorie goal, then eat it.
  • Aware. I'm strictly talking calories. Sucralose is not zero calories like everyone thinks it is. It is nitpicking, but I just wanted to emphasize that for someone drinking liters of it per day thinking it adds nothing to their calorie count.
  • 1 pack of splenda is about 4 calories. Not zero. I know thats nitpicking, but many people don't know that. I don't know how many grams of sucralose they use per 2 liter bottle, but it adds up if you're drinking that daily.
  • If you want moist salmon without active cooking... Water, butter, lots of kosher salt, lemon... Nothing else. Poach skinless, wild salmon in a 350F oven, in a foil lined pan. I'd say check after 8 minutes, but that depends on the weight and thickness of the fillet. 30 minutes seems excessive. Salmon gets very dry when…
  • If you ate like a normal, human omnivore with no dietary restrictions, do you think you would still have fake sugar headaches? If so, stop consuming "fake sugar"... or better yet, stop doing keto. Either way, the correlation you made between artificial sugar and headaches doesn't mean that is what is actually giving you…
  • Wash thoroughly and trim stems. Coat lightly with canola oil and season with kosher salt. Place in a foil-lined pan and add a few sprigs of rosemary and thyme. Add 2/3 cup water and cover with foil. The water will help the skin come off easier. Roast at 400F for 1.25 to 1.5 hours. Peel skins immediately for best results.…

  • Not important on a website forum focused on health and weight. It's like saying Herrs BBQ chips vs. Lays BBQ chips? Those sodas aren't calorie free by the way. A single splenda, equal, or other comparable sugar substitute is 4 calories per gram. Acid reflux is awful and has been linked to soda intake. You create other long…
  • You can enjoy both. Learning how to actually enjoy coffee for what it actually tastes like will be your problem... And it's not bad at all if brewed properly. Cold brew coffee is low acidity, very smooth on the palate, and can be easily learned to enjoy without milk because of those two facts. You can brew it at home for…
  • That means nothing. Humans don't know many things concretely, so your beliefs are no more accurate than someone else's on the same topic. What I can tell you as a fundamental nutritional issue is that whole foods found in nature, that are not processed, or very minimally processed, are far better for human beings than…
  • This. And I would even go so far as to say you don't even need whey. Stick to whole foods for your protein intake. Use whey as a treat, not a daily need.

  • Once you choose a "diet", especially one as restrictive as this, following it exactly as you intend, every single day, begins to become very cumbersome. If your willpower isn't iron clad, then you will likely lose interest and be discouraged with your results. If you do notice a difference, it is likely because you just…
  • They are called the sucs in French, or more casually, the brown bits in English.
  • Calories is king when it comes to cutting or bulking only. But every human being on this earth needs some sort of minimum intake of dietary fat and protein before short-term side effects and maybe long-term health effects start to take way. Macronutrient intake should not be ignored. Not knowing how much dietary fat and…
  • Homemade. Amazon sells Fiber syrup and washable molds to form your own bars. Mix the fiber syrup with crushed Oreo cookies and a cheap vanilla whey/casein blend such as MuscleTech Phase8 to replicate the exact flavor of the Quest Cookies n' Cream bars.
  • Drink in moderation, like anything else. I know a lot of people who are addicted to caffeinated soda. A strict nutritionist would likely recommend sticking to beverages that are not adulterated in a laboratory, such as water and 100% juice. The phosphoric acid used in Diet Coke personally riles up my acid reflux and…
  • I like rub/marinade combos: 1. Chopped scallions 2. Fresh herbs - your choice of cilantro, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, etc. 3. Fresh minced garlic (also add fresh ginger if you're going Asian) 4. Olive oil 5. Any non-salted spices or spice-blends that make sense in the recipe (paprika, black pepper, togarashi, ras el…
  • Most vinaigrettes and dressings contain a small percent of water. You need a bit of water for thinning purposes or else you can be left with more of a paste than a vinaigrette. Vinaigrettes are usually a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio of oil to acid. The oil is what makes the mixture thick. It also emulsifies with the other ingredients…
  • My go-to marinade is made from fresh herbs like cilantro or rosemary or thyme along with fresh chopped garlic, sliced green onion and olive oil for a minimum of 2 hours. You can use whatever spices that make sense in your recipe, but hold off on adding anything that has sodium or a sour flavor, like lemon and vinegar.…

  • Keep it simple. Use fresh food and strive for high flavor. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts poached in salted water with fresh rosemary & thyme. Let cool. Slice chicken. Some of the cooked herbs will have stuck to the chicken, which is good. Add mayo, minced onion, minced celery and yellow celery leaves. Squeeze fresh…

  • Tilapia really shouldn't be for human consumption. Please do some research on the so-called fish.
  • Deep fried chicken wings in general aren't the best option for cutting... especially when slathered in a buttery hot sauce. My advice would be to start roasting whole, 3 lb. chickens. They are cheap and there is enough meat to last you for 2-3 days. As a bonus, you get 2 wings to keep your wing cravings at bay!
  • Whole Eggs Egg Frittatas Protein Shake Breakfast Meats Chicken Kielbasa Mushrooms Beans/Legumes Proats (Protein powder added to rolled oats)
  • I like petite green lentils. They have good flavor and are very healthy for you. They are amazing with any type of smoked ham or bacon, small diced bell pepper/carrot/onion, mushroom, butter, garlic and fresh herbs. A little Sherry Vinegar goes a long way with lentils!!
  • Tilapia Pro's: * Cheap * Usually skinless and already filleted for you. Tilapia Con's: * Muddy taste. * Low in nutrients. * Barely has any Omega 3. * Reputation for being fed animal feces. * Farm-raised, usually in poor conditions. * Contains more chemicals than other fish. * May worsen inflammation. It's important to know…
