Congratulations on your upcoming 5k - For training I use walk/run. At the beginning of a training cycle I walk for 8 minutes then run for say 5. The following week I walk for 7 minutes then run for 6. walk 6 then run 7 etc... I do this week after week until my race at which time I am running the entire distance…

I have the exact same goals ran my 3rd - 1/2 marathon last weekend in Pasadena. I am running the LA marathon in March. My first full marathon. When I am running those distances I always ask myself - What the F*&&&(* are you doing? I don't run. However, I trudge on to the finish. So, I guess I am a runner. Weird epiphany.

I understand the fear. I signed up for the LA Marathon in March. Ran a half in Pasadena Sunday. My next long run on Monday is scheduled to be 19 miles. Getting the mileage, but the training and the time required for a full marathon is daunting to say the least. Good luck.

I take my dog once in awhile. I used to take her always, until I started running greater than 6 miles on my daily runs. She was having a hard time keeping up. Any runs of a lesser amount she does well. When I do take her she seems to enjoy the run and she is delightful.

I did - Nothing serious.

Today, I have the choice. I have not always had that. But today I do.

You are exactly correct. There is a world of difference. I believe you would agree that shame, guilt, and self loathing transcends the differences. Asking ourselves once again how did I get here and hurting ourselves a bite a time. Taking our pain out on the ones we are supposed to love. We are in chains/prisons of one…

I'm a sober alcoholic. Every year people buy me bottles of wine. The problem is mine not theirs. My weight is my problem not theirs. They are trying to be nice, kind, or loving. I sincerely say "Thank you" and re-gift as soon as possible. They don't require a dissertation on my neurosis du jour. I must to accept my…

Good for you. Enjoy the race. 5k is a good distance. Running one on November 13th. I usually just eat a banana nothing else prior to a run. If I eat more I tend to have digestive distress and that's bogus on a long run. The constant bouncing up and down. I could tell ya horror stories. Once again enjoy the run.

Why don't we take a short cut - I'll come over and throw your stuff in the yard.

I only take fluids nothing to eat. Eat like a mad to replace the calorie burn afterwards. Ran 16.6 miles this morning only had a banana before hand. I do that so I don't have digestive issues when Im in the middle of nowhere.

Take it slow, get some good running shoes. I can't stress taking it slow enough. I started running last year myself and since then I've run (2)10k races, (2) half marathons and a 5k race. I'm training for the LA marathon now. Take it slow and enjoy. Listen to your body.

I have a Half Marathon this Saturday in Big Bear, 5k in Riverside in November, Half Marathon in Pasadena in January, 10k in Redlands in the beginning of March then the LA Marathon later in the month. So the answer is yes. I am preparing for a race.
