  • Can you open your diary so we can see what you're eating?
  • Some sort of deli wrap perhaps? Eg Quorn slices rolled up with veggies inside. Personally if I had this many restrictions then I would get a thermos flask and fill it with hot soup in the morning, then have that at lunch (or cold soup if it's hot where you live). Then drinking out of a cup it would mean little to no mess.
  • You are the one changing your lifestyle, not them. If they don't want to change you can't force them, and it's somewhat unreasonable for you to expect them to hide junk food because otherwise you will eat it. Just because it's there, doesn't mean you need to eat it. Can you ask to have your dinner on a smaller plate? I…
  • Well I started being super consistent with my food and exercise about 3 months ago, and I'm starting to see some real results now. Annoyingly I'm not down a full dress size, but my trousers/leggings are now gaping a bit at the waist, and my arms are looking a lot more defined. I've also had people (who knew I was losing…
  • Avoid anything in tempura or that's been fried. Try and go for more high protein/low carb options. I know it's hard, but try and limit how much rice you have, and if they have the option go for wholegrain rice when you can. Sashimi is a good option at a Japanese place as you're just getting the protein. I don't have a good…
  • I always thought it was down to the each countries food regulation, like the UK/Europe has a lot more legislation over food and what can/can't go in it etc Although it could just be down to the 'taste' of each country, eg is Americans prefer a sweeter bun it'd have more sugar in it and so more calories, but the UK prefer…
  • I don't log my mints or my squash that I have in the evening. I'm also lazy with logging my tea. I have about 4-5 cups a day, but the milk varies depending on who at work makes it. Oh also mustard of any relatively low calorie condiment. eg I log any pesto I add as it's got a lot of fat/oil in it. If I hit a plateau then I…
  • I went over by 374 yesterday and this morning I weighted 0.7kg less than yesterday morning. Weight loss isn't linear! Also weight fluctuates, if you aren't already, then think about using trendweight.com where it filters out the 'noise' of water weight to give you a smoother line.
  • You can still overeat even if you're eating only fish and veg.
  • As you say you're in the UK, check out Secret Eaters on 4OD. It shows people eating 'healthy' on a 'deficit' and gaining weight, the cause? They're eating way way more than they think. My favourite is the one where a woman eats a massive jacket potato, covered in a whole tin of beans, loads of cheese and fried mushrooms on…
  • I'd say it'd be unhealthy from the perspective that it means you have a high fat to muscle ratio. Also you might have fat round your internal organs which isn't great for your health, although the only way to know for certain if you're carrying fat in a dangerous place would be to get a proper body fat scan done. They can…
  • Height: 5.4 Weight: 145lb Bust: 36" Waist: 26.5" Hips: 41"
  • Just jumping in here with a 'yoghurt' reccomendation. I say 'yoghurt' because it's actually quark (a type of cheese), but it's amazing. Really thick and not like normal yoghurt texture (in case that's what is putting you off). It's more like cream cheese but fruit flavoured. They sell it in Tescos/ASDA and it's just called…
  • I mainly do my workouts at the gym, but if I can't go/don't feel it then I use a range of apps called Sworkit. They have lots of different ones, although my favourite is the stretching one. You put in how long you want to work out then follow along :)
  • Yeah prune juice is a bit grim, but I find prunes much nicer. They contain xylitol which makes them sweet, and it's what a lot of sugar free sweets use to make them taste sweeter. (It's also why too many sugar free sweets can make you poop).
  • As long as you're happy having the same meal over and over any diet is easy. Something v simple is Brocolli, brown rice + chicken but it's a bit dull. Recently I've been having prawns, brown rice and some chilli sauce then some frozen onions/peppers if I remember. That's about 275 calories without the peppers. Then I have…
  • If you are having lots of fiber make sure you are drinking enough! Lots of fiber without water will make it worse. Prunes are dried? A prune is a dried out plum, they're also really sweet and make a nice snack, but again have enough water with them!
  • I'd give a fair bit of side eye to a PT suggesting you go on a low carb diet and that you 'need' it for fat loss. Are you at a gym with multiple trainers? I'd suggest giving a few PTs a trial and seeing which one suits you best as this trainer seems a bit meh.

  • How are you measuring your body fat %? As if you are using scales it could be out by quite a bit so though the scales are showing you and your friend as the same you could be out by quite margin. If your body fat is low enough for your period to stop then that's a sign you're way too low! Do you do heavy weightlifting? As…
  • Did your doctor give recommendation of things that you could do? Also 2nding the obese/elderly workouts, back when I was just starting to try and improve my fitness I used them. As a lot of 'beginner' work out routines were too difficult for me, eg do 15 bodyweight squats, when I couldn't do one without toppling over (I…
  • First off well done for realising that you have a problem and that you're seeking help for it, that can be a major step in itself. I hope you find a more helpful doctor soon. Then 1000-1200 isn't very many calories to be eating, and might not be sustainable in the long term. A really helpful beginners guide is this one. A…
  • Congratulations! 7lb in 7 weeks is a good weight loss to achieve! Particularly for women hormones can make weight loss look a bit wonky. Have you looked at using trendweight to log your weight? It filters out the 'noise' of water weight, and as long as the majority of scale measurements are under the line, it means you're…
  • What do you do on the days you don't exercise? I put my stats into a TDEE calculator and they come out at 2000-2100, but my fitbit HR puts me at 1953. Although I do exercise 4 times a week and walk to work etc, on days I don't exercise I don't usually move much which drags my TDEE down from what the calculator predicts.
  • Are you going back to sleep? For me the next day starts when I wake up and I'm not going back to sleep. So if I'm on a night out and stay up and have drinks/snacks that is logged as 'yesterday'
  • I usually go for a medium skinny sugar free caramel latte (although I do feel very pretentious when ordering it! I don't usually eat from there, although I did use to have one of the giant bourbon biscuits most times I had coffee (2-3 times a week). Then when I started using mfp I found that they were 400+ calories.…
  • As long as you're under your calories you'll still loose weight regardless of sugar intake. Sugar from stuff like milk and fruit doesn't need to be worried about. I try to limit my processed/added sugar, but mainly because if I have too much of it then I don't have enough calories to eat other stuff. Eg I could have two…

  • Only way to work it out would be to see if they go away when you go back to a 90% healthy diet and crop up again next time you have lots of takeout. As it could be you just had a dodgy takeaway?
  • Haha, I'm in a similar boat. I've gone from 29in waist to 27in, but my hips are still the same at 41in! Although for me at least it's a good thing as I promised myself I wouldn't buy any new clothes till I dropped a dress size, so I'm saving a lot of ££ at the moment! (Also you're probably loosing it from places you…
