I've wondered the same exact thing! I'm 5'1 122 lbs and I don't agree with the one size fits all approach!

I have two kids ages 7 and 2 1/2. Here's my strategy: I make a big meal once or twice a week usually a healthy soup like veggie soup with beans, or quinoa and beans, healthy casserole, chili, egg salad with avocado, etc as long as it's healthy and I like it, and I make a lot of it. That way I'll have a lunch or dinner for…

Ok this thread has over 4000 views! As much as yall wanna bash the pills, it sure seems like a lot of you were at lest curious enough to take a peak before inserting your "NO" so you can claim to fit in with the rest of the majority!

Holy beegesus!!! You are smoking hot!!

You can add me I'm doing intermittent fasting, and try to limit carbs on days I don't strength train. I've heard a lot about this bulletproof coffee. What is it exactly?

Ok thank you so much! Very helpful info

Also is one pound a week too much for someone my size? I do strength training to maintain my muscle, since I'm trying to lose fat. I know I can't really build muscle on a deficit, but don't want to be skinny fat either which is why I lift pretty heavy. Half a pound a week just seems like so little? It can be frustrating.

Ok I see, what's the best way to calculate my TDEE? I'm pretty sure it varies from day to day, I'm a stay at home mom, I do strength training 3 times a week, cardio 2-5 times a week) my activity levels vary, some days we hang at the house, some days we go to the zoo, park, beach etc and walk quite a bit, once a week I do a…

It gets better the more weight you lose, the skin will probably always be loose depending on how much you gained and your skin elasticity but when I was at my skinniest I had a flat tummy and it was pretty much nonexistent, I've since gained back about 20 lbs and the belly came back with it.

Yes you're right eating a surplus of calories does make you fat, but carbs that are not used for glycogen are directly stored as body fat.

I've lost 6 1/2 lbs since June 1st doing a combo of both. I do a full body strength workout every other day and cardio almost every day. I only do 15-30 mins of HIIT, and always after lifting weights. Long endurance cardio like jogging for an hour has been proven to destroy your muscles so it's detrimental to strength…

I'm struggling with the same thing, best thing I've found to blast the fat is HIIT and strength training which raises your metabolic rate, as I'm sure you've heard you can't get rid of fat in one area, you have to lose it all over. Best thing I've found for that is HIIT, I usually do 20-30 a day with videos off YouTube.…

Don't buy the crap, I refuse to buy anything but almond milk, green juices, tea, coffee and we have filtered water and sometimes I buy the flavor pouches for the kids. And that's all we drink, don't buy it, don't drink it! I used to drink nothing but soda, no water, nothing else. Got fat and felt miserable. Had kidney…

I've been a veg for years and I'm gonna let you know that the snide comments about your decision won't stop, best thing is to just ignore it, laugh with them etc. I live in Texas and when I tell people I don't eat meat they usually *kitten* themselves. :) I can tell you from personal experience I did lose a lot of weight…

I'm vegetarian, and I make a lot of soups, pastas, beans etc. your not getting any protein and it's not good for you, do you get sick a lot? Because your lacking three things the body needs to survive: protein, carbs and fats. All are necessary in healthy amounts and will not cause you to gain fat if eaten properly, but…

Too many carbs? Your body stores water when you eat carbs, also if you eat a lot of meat it could not be digesting properly.

I never worked out either until June 1st I decided I was done being unhappy and wanted to get fit before turning 30 in October, I decided to try to work out at least every other day. I ended up feeling great after doing a 30 min cardio video, and after a week of doing it everyother day, did some research on fat loss and…

June 1st: 129 lbs. Today 7/21: 124 lbs. Goal: 110 lbs. I'm only 5'1. Determined to get to my goal by October for the big 3-0 birthday, not that it's a huge deal...but I still wanna be smokin as I roll into my 30's since my 20's were definitely slacking in the fitness area!

Hey I'm new to mfp, I'm 29 yrs old, 5'1 and 123.5 lbs currently. My goal is around 110 lbs. I started working out on June 1st, doing strength training with a barbell and weights every other day and cardio at least 5 days a week, usually only 15-20 mins of HIIT. I have lost 6.5 lbs so far, but want to keep going by tracking…
