I'm currently doing Fierce 5 novice program. What exactly is hypertophy training? I was previously recommended to bulk first, but I'm just somewhat afraid of eating over my maintenance because I like the overall slimness of my body, it's just that my BF% seems so high that I want to just replace all these fat with muscles…

Yes, I've been doing back squats with 90 pounds. I'm thinking of adding burpees
-
I've been doing it for 2 months now. I just curretly started a intermediate 4-week programme from body********.com. Started my tricep/bicep lifting with 20 pounds. Now at 30.

Aah, hate quote errors like this.

Thanks for the great advice. I just checked the TDEE and got 3035. Maybe I'll this and start eating at about 2300-2500? I've always thought the calorie intake was excluding the exercise calories so I guess that's where the mistake hit in...

Actually it's 26 days til Jan 2nd so less than 4 weeks. May want to check your maths! Explains totally unrealistic goals! [/quote] I said 2nd week of Jan.
-
I use both heartrate monitor and the treadmill itself. It's a really high-tech one which I have to input all of my essential body stats, so I assume it's pretty accurate.
-
Absolutely. All ingredients are weighed, I follow the nutrition label very strictly as well. I cut out a lot of sodium, and almost carb-free (except my lifting days).
-
Well, If I'm not counting BMR as a part of the calculation, then the amount of calorie burned is significantly less than food calorie. I burn at least 600 calories from exercising. When I do back squats on Tues,Thurs and Sat, I imagine more.
-
Not sure of the difference in two, but I'm guessing net is more of what I mean. 1500cal comes directly from food. Exercise wise, I jog-run for 60 minutes everyday with no rest days and additional weight training& back squats on Tues,Thurs and Sat.
-
I've been consistently losing about 2 pounds a week. My BMR is about 1850s. I eat about 1500kal and exercise a lot.
-
I just like to have target goals for certain duration of time. That's at least my way of getting myself motivated. Not saying I will stop doing it after then, it's just that I will make another goal after.
-
how much % would you say it is then? I guess I did miscalculate since that's what seems to be the case..
-
It's actually 5 weeks, about.

Sorry, didn't update my profile, but 174lb with 21%BF is the most accurate at this point. I do consider good amount of efficiency. I really don't think I can spend more than an hour on a treadmill, that's why I set my cardio session to 1 hour, thus the most calorie burn within that given time would be what I'm looking for.…
-
Yes my profile hasn't been updated, but now I'm at 174 pound with 21% BF, most accurate and recent by far
-
Thanks for the suggestion. My main purpose was originally burning the most calorie as possible, although I did begin to like the idea of improving on my athletic aspect in running, because not only does it set a goal for my progression but also it just happens to make running fun at least.
-
Sometimes I rest on Saturday, but mostly I work 7 days a week. M,W,F=Cardio and Tues,Thurs weight training& muscles. I know I don't over-train as I've never experience injuries. And I did HIIT sometimes ago but that was mainly to experiment my weekly progress vs. my regular treadmill routine, but as you may know even with…

I did an experiment tool with the HR monitor built in to the treadmill machine. I recently did just an hour moderate walk on the treadmill at 3.5mph, and my average HR was at 130. When you do a relatively good intense running, what % of the max HR do you keep at if you do happen to constantly track?
-
Thanks four your input. The HR part from the HIIT was very interesting to know. I didn't really track my HR when I was doing a steady cardio at treadmill, but I do remember that mine is somewhere in the 80% range when I'm doing 5.5 mph run for 5 mins (80% is about towards the end, so about at last 20 seconds of remaining…

I do get pretty tired after 5 minutes of run at 5.5mph. Never done 5k or 10k. I've been slowly building up my endurance in the past 2 months. I remember I ran out of breath within 3 minutes or so at 4.5 mph run by then lol. I wouldn't say a fast progress but it is there. For my first 20 minutes or so, I can do my running…
-
True, but the calorie counting & ingredient weighing and all that sort of things are already in check, and I wasn't asking about that..
-
I'd say calorie intake as well as calorie burn
-
I just happened to be a bit confused as lots of people recommend to avoid oily foods when losing fat.
-
That's very true. I just chose to eat this way for a certain period of time because I felt like starting out strict, and getting less strict and eating more variety as time goes would help me in terms of sustaining healthy diet for the rest of my life.
-
Well, I already eat two large eggs as a part of my breakfast anyways.
-
I just have a goal which I want to reach, so no I won't be eating this way forever. Not saying that I will start eating junk food again afterwards however. And I take in about 1200cal a day. I've been like this for 3 months now and I feel healthier than before.. that's why I'm asking about sweet potato which seems to…
-
Yes, I try to be strict on it.. I also prefer low calorie food, but bigger portion. It's just dinner that I try to be on a low scale though.
