I tinker with my diet and calories constantly. so I weight each morning to see what makes me hold water, or what didn't work.. but I log once per week or so

These are great articles to skim... especially the "You are not different" article. excellent. Calories in vs Calories burned. the end.

I agree this is one of the hardest things to deal with when counting calories. I'm an accuracy nut and I find it nearly impossible to be absolutely sure of somethings. Pulled pork is another one... some are cooked in sugary bbq sauces and some are cooked in crushed tomatoes with herbs and spices.... the difference is like…

What are the effects that you are feeling that make you want to change?

Eating can be social and fun too! Food is not love or an enemy... it's just fuel. Go have fun, pick the carrots and celery appetizer and choose water with lime to drink. Enjoy the company!

This is funny. :p

All food makes you fat. Not just nuts. Reducing your calories by cutting out nuts is still reducing calories.

Not sustainable... when I go on vacation or something I'd be screwed. I'm certainly not taking my blender or butter on a 2 night / 3 day hike. Go figure! Sustainable calorie deficit is the only way to do this.

Welcome Back! good work on keeping it off! Start with walking. Get some fresh air and a routine. Start slow... add body weight squats and lunges after you get a routine, then add push ups etc... Just don't run off after a 6 month break and expect to bench press 300lb.

Ha! Love it!

I agree with TeaBea. I'm a big fan of Intermittent Fasting. I do 18 hours most days (skip breakfast) and 24 hours a couple days per week (skip breakfast and lunch). My weekends with my kids are "party time" and the calories get packed on.

I look at the week all the time. MFP has "Reports" then choose "Calories" as the report. Look at the week. This daily calorie count stuff stresses me out. Plus I "intermittent fast" throughout the week. daily counts would be "unhealthy" during those days anyway.

My fitbit is linked too and I noticed that my numbers are adjusted as to not subtract twice (once for the fitbit link, and one for the exercise logged). I use MapMyFitness for walking routes and it does the same thing there too.
