I really don't know what the "Bulletproof diet/coffee drinking/eating plan" consists of, but I do toss a little unrefined coconut oil in my coffee occasionally. I like the taste.

In case anyone is unaware, many coffee whiteners/creamers are actually vegetable oil. Maybe you are drinking bulletproof coffee without even realizing it. B)

It is just a fat heavy, carb free drink. It's not really an eating plan.

So can somebody exactly explain to me what the difference/benefit is of:

    1 cup of black coffee
1 slice of bread with 14 gram of butter and 43 gram of tomato on it

    Or having

1 cup of black coffee with 14 gram of butter in it
1 slice of bread and 43 gram of tomato on it.

I tried the method once (not with the bulletproof coffee...just good quality coffee beans) and I can't really tell you whether or not it helped my energy or anything else that they claim because it tasted so awful and felt like I was drinking a cup of grease that I ended up dumping it out after one sip.

I would skip the bread, but I eat low carb.

Did u put it in a blender ? It's suppose to end up like a cappuccino . Otherwise it's just greasy

I did put it in a blender. And the consistently was similar to a latte I'd say but definitely greasy.

Not sustainable... when I go on vacation or something I'd be screwed. I'm certainly not taking my blender or butter on a 2 night / 3 day hike.

Go figure! Sustainable calorie deficit is the only way to do this.

    LOL

As long as you are getting enough fat and have no insulin issues, heart disease, or autoimmune problems, you could probably go with either.

But we eat so differently that I wouldn't take my word for it. :)

There would be absolutely no difference! But if you're on the bulletproof diet, you wouldn't be eating bread. It's a no-grain diet.

Correct me if I'm wrong ... it's a glob of butter in coffee, isn't it?

#1 makes you think you're cool and trendy
#2 doesn't have any silly pretentions.

I think it is great for folks on a ketogenic diet only. For others it would probably be counter-productive, as the fat would be stored rather than burned.

As some of the theirs have said, if you are on a high fat diet, then BP coffee is pretty common. For those who eat LCHF, we know it isn't "magic" but it fits into our macros well, and tastes good.

I skip the BP coffee because I prefer whipped heavy cream in my coffee instead. Yum!

Yep, pretty much a staple item on LCHF. Some that don't like coffee actually make bulletproof tea or cocoa.
I'm not following that diet, but I'm eating ketogenic.
I have bulletproof coffee every morning that I'm not fasting. I use heavy cream and coconut oil and only add butter when lunch is a long way off for some reason because BPC is perfect for controlling hunger. And it's darn delicious! Best coffee I've ever made at home.

how many calories is it? No, I'm not interested in doing this, just curious how high the calorie count is.

It usually has 2 Tbs worth (approximately) of butter, coconut oil or ghee. 200 calories?

Well according to the website for it, it's 1-2 TBSP oil and 1-2 TBSP Butter. So 219 - 438 calories approximately (used the nutrition information from the side of google for coconut oil and butter.....googles source is listed as USDA).

This started doing this before I learned the name as part of my pain management eating lifestyle. Since my pain is well controlled I am sticking with my LCHF eating lifestyle as long as it keeps the pain away without Rx Meds. My mix is coffee, cocoa, coconut oil and 36% butter fat heavy whipping cream. In the first 30 days of this eating lifestyle my pain was well managed and that was a year ago. Now the old fat man is just old. :)

My first cup of coffee each day is 800 calories in my case.

I was pretty disapointed that it does not, in fact, make you bullet proof. Slight tangent, anyone got a tourniquet?
