  • I tend to drink seltzer water when I have tummy issues or have been glutened. I wonder if the carbonation is what's helping the most. Might pay to invest in a soda stream... I do also focus on my diet more than usual for a week or so.
  • Thanks for that. I had not seen that article and I actually have some of that stuff on hand, never thought to use it for gluten exposures! I guess I was also really looking for anecdotal thoughts as well. I know part of recovery is gut healing but in the time it takes for that to happen what can I do to reduce symptoms?…
  • I think I commented on this thread before.. But anyway I'm here again. Anyone is free to add me if you like. I have been mostly paleo for the last 4 years (with slip ups around the ends of the years), and always gluten free without exception. I am also mostly low-carb/keto (if I can get my head back in the game). I lost 35…
  • I have a really bad sweet tooth as well. When I absolutely NEED something that tastes sweet I go with a liquid stevia. The after taste isn't bad as long as I don't use too much. I find 4-5 drops per serving is about what I can handle. Honestly what works for me the rest of the time is almost completely abstaining from…
  • I love this. I grew up eating sardines so I never had a problem but I know so many people do. Also grew up with liver and other organ meat. My friends hated coming for dinner at my house. Lol. I recently took the plunge to oysters though. Started with smoked in olive oil and have graduated to raw! Never ever thought I…
  • I'm losing an average of 1-2 lbs per week. Not a perfectionist and I do use percentages rather than grams but it works for me so far. I do no more than 10% carbs and 25% protein and fill the rest with fat. You're welcome to add me as a friend if you'd like to see what I eat.
  • I guess I can't post a link. New to this. You can find it on Amazon. I like it because it's more easily absorbed since it's a liquid and if you are like me, with digestive problems, then it's wonderful.
  • Natural Calm is the best thing I've found for sore muscles and sleep help. Read the reviews, it's good stuff.
  • Just an FYI, I found full fat content plain Chobani yogurt at my local Shoprite, in singles even. I was excited!
  • Agreed! Winter is a slippery slope!
  • I roast Brussels sprouts, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, just about anything. I also make what i call veggie hash. I use my food processor to grind up kale, mushrooms, and onions to the consistency of rice (and make another batch with sweet potato if my son is eating) and then cook it in duck fat and ghee. Yum
  • South Jersey -surrounded by farmland right between Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
  • I had to look twice. This sounds exactly like me! I brewed for a couple of years and just got out of it in the last 8 months or so when I got too busy in grad school. My scoby still looks intact and healthy sitting in a glass container in my basement, albeit about 4 inches thick! Lemon/ginger is also my favorite. I just…
  • Add me as well. I am in that boat, for over three years. Every now and then sugar, dairy, and alcohol just creep back. Then comes a little organic popcorn or tortillas and the next thing you know I'm eating popcorn covered in "butter" at the theater and eating Mike and Ike's. I find I can handle a little alcohol once or…
  • I make something similar but love lemon so I typically add a little juice and zest and use ghee as well to add some fat and flavor. Yum
  • Just a thought but adding magnesium will help you poo as well. Natural Calm works wonders and it certainly doesn't have all the crap in it that a stool softener does ( no pun intended
  • This is very interesting. I have had the opposite experience. Well, kind of. My bodily symptoms (cramping, bloating, decreased energy) completely go away when I strictly limit carbs and sugar. So much so that I've been surprised a number or times by starting unexpectedly. When not doing keto I will know exactly a week in…
  • Geerunz, The C25K app is a run/walk thing. Right now I'm up to 2 min run/2 min walk followed by 2 sets of 3 min run/walk and another 2 min run/walk with warm up and cool down. It brings you up slowly. I used it successfully in the past. I guess it's the same concept of the Galloway method.
  • Anyone feel free to add me as well. Keto with real foods (Paleo template).
  • I second the FCLO by green pastures. I feel better in general when I consistently take it. Cinnamon tingle flavor is the best.
  • Homemade soups make a great breakfast as well, it's kind of reminiscent of hot cereal like oatmeal. Sometimes I'll make a big salad and put two poached or over medium eggs on top. My typical on the go breakfast is always two boiled eggs, a little raw kraut, half an avocado, sometimes I'll throw in some olives. Always gets…
  • If you are not fat phobic, meaning you increase your fat intake (coconut oil, avocado, whole eggs, olives, ghee, etc) with every meal then yes you should feel more full for longer periods of time. In the past I've found that as long as I don't overdo fruits and other sweeter tasting Paleo foods (and my meals are big enough…
  • I'm looking for a few friends as well. Have been eating Paleo/ primal for the last 3 years and lost about 30 lbs initially. Started grad school and gained nearly all of it back over the two years. I did manage to stay at least 80% Paleo the entire time as well as gluten free (I'm sensitive) but still managed to gain…
  • Oh, I totally forgot about my bulletproof coffee! Adds a bunch of fat in the am and takes out a few carbs too. That'll probably kick me up a notch.
  • I have been walking every day and doing the C25K app as well. I use the Fitbit to try to make me aware of activity levels. I want to love running so much but it just hurts. My right side pelvis in very unstable from an accident a few years ago. Anyway, I have to get up to at least 1 1/2 miles for work. I go to the gym when…
  • I hate that I've re-started this in the summer when the tomatoes and ALL THE FRUIT is in season. I just want to dive mouth first into the watermelon from my local CSA! A tip for late nights (have had lots bc of grad school) invest in every kind of herbal tea. I really like Egyptian licorice from Yogi teas. It tastes very…
  • I also am a 35 y/o mom. Not a nurse but in the health field as an occupational therapy student. Finish with clinicals in December and graduate! I blame Grad school for the 30 gained lbs. Everyone please feel free to add me as I've no clue how to do it yet...

  • Initial weigh-in 168 lbs.
  • Hi everyone, I'm Jen. I've been eating paleo (relatively LC compared to the standard diet) for the last 3+ years and have done LCHF on and off for the last year. I'm looking to re-lose about 30 lbs. My goal is 140 lbs but I plan on measuring in inches for the most part and only taking a look at the scale when I've seen…
