What? No! You're only cheating yourself. Eat what you want but fit. It. Into. Your. Macros.

Eat to lose weight. Exercise to gain strength.

Consequences.

The real answer: you can weigh yourself as often as you want as long as you ONLY pay attention to the long-term trend, and understand that short-term fluctuations mean nothing. My answer for you: once a week. If you were good at analyzing long-term trends, you never would have gotten overweight in the first place. Once a…

This reminds me of a conversation I always have with people who ask me about my weight loss: HIM: I wish I could lose weight. I hate exercise. ME: You don't need to exercise, you know. Just not eat as much. HIM: What do you mean? ME: Not eat as much? I don't know how many meanings that could possibly have. Like, as in,…

I've done it before, and I liked it. I find that it helps a great deal if you are actually hungry before you begin eating, and not just eating because you think you should on a discursive level of thinking. Hunger is the greatest spice known to mankind. It can make the plainest foods taste exquisite.

Fasting is, in general, a really bad idea, and I'm worried you might be using it to justify binge eating. Binging is never good for you, no matter how long you fast afterward. You need to learn how to eat just enough to fuel yourself and then stop. Binging and fasting don't help with this.

You don't need to eat celery to be healthy. But you pretty much can't make a soup base without it, so...avoid soup?

It really should be about the best possible health and well-being of your daughter. I've been told I look good at 200 pounds, but I don't feel good. I feel miserable. I prefer to be thinner than that. If she's not overweight, I don't see the problem, and you should definitely not be projecting your anxiety on to her. Your…

I'm a huge dork when it comes to my workout playlist. Here are the workout playlist rules I've devised. * Calculate the beats per minute of the music, and sort all songs from low BPM to high BPM. That way every song is faster than the last one. It helps a LOT to keep you going. * Anything is allowed, as long as it keeps…

Dr. Mehmet Oz is such a quack that he waddles when he walks.

I have. I had major problems with heavy carbohydrates, so eating better has pretty much made my problems go away. EDIT: the big trigger for me seemed to be corn and corn products. A little corn on the cob is not so bad, but corn chips, corn bread, corn meal...

Find a low-sodium spicy salsa with no added sugar and put it on EVERYTHING. I use it as my main sauce on chicken, eggs, salads, whatever. It's like food magic...makes everything better and adds almost no calories.

OK, let's take a breather here and talk about a few things. * Weighing your food is definitely better than measuring volume. It's much more precise. Volume varies with foods, but weight always remains the same. It's super easy, too. Just set the bowl on the scale, zero it out, and then add the food. I have one at home too,…

You seem to be a believer in the "Health At Every Size" movement that's going on right now. I would agree with you that your health is much more important than your size, but unfortunately HAES is nonsense. Your size has a great deal to do with your health. It predicates things like heart disease, type II diabetes, liver…

You're not. This is not a thing. Your weight is always calories in minus calories out. There are physical laws involved here - you cannot gain mass that you didn't add to yourself. You especially have to be very careful because you're short - it takes far fewer calories for you to maintain your body, and therefore every…

* Mustard in place of salad dressing. One of the best transitions I ever made. * Take half the salt out of any recipe, replace it with something tart like vinegar or lime juice. * Water instead of snacking. * Cabbage instead of iceberg lettuce. * Herbs and spices instead of cheese. I'm an American, our cheese doesn't even…

It really depends on what you're after. Most researchers understand now that making your largest muscles work is one of the best ways to burn fat - legs, butt, chest, etc. You burn energy to build those muscles and then they continue burning energy at a higher rate even at rest. So if you do any exercise at all, it should…

I really did not like the feeling of being empty inside and was always looking to fill my stomach. I looked at it like torture and would do anything to avoid it. Then I started running, and I had the delightful experience of puking after trying to run on a full stomach. Now I don't mind being empty. :) Sorry to be gross,…

I used to think so too. Then I had actual garden-fresh tomatoes, not that garbage they sell in supermarkets. They shouldn't be allowed to call those things "tomatoes." It's a completely different thing.

I've become unreasonably upset about foods that don't need sugar having sugar added to them. I got so angry at my wife the other day for bringing home "all natural" peanut butter that had vegetable oil, palm oil, and agave syrup in it. You know what needs to be in peanut butter? Peanuts. Never betray the Krema!

I made peace with my body. I was satisfied that I was doing the best that I could. That's how I got fat.

Don't worry, this problem takes care of itself. Here's what's going to happen: 1. Continue eating your processed carby foods within your calorie limits 2. Get really, really hungry. Realize that even though it has a lot of calories, it's not enough to fill you up. 3. Start eating low-calorie foods to keep you from getting…

I agree with m I like this advice. Start with this. Over time, you may find that the calories are just not worth it at all, and your tastes will actually change away from sweet stuff if you reduce it for long enough. I've started to drink it black now.
