you can learn to like anything... you just have to eat them. Learn how to prepare foods in different ways and incorporate them into other foods. Some do smoothies, some do soup or stews. It's something that requires some planning, and maybe some googling

What is it that makes you overeat to the point where you need gastric bypass? Until you can honestly answer that question and learn to control your eating, you will regain it back, even with surgery. If you can figure a way to do that NOW... no surgery needed. Something to think about...

Don't be intimidated by the gym... being there is what matters. I think 240 is a magic "stuck" number... I've been there for YEARS. Best thing to do is stop thinking about the scale and keep doing what you were doing.

A piece of advice... don't eat your food, then finish the plate of your date's food as well. I did this on the first date (with my wife) and never heard the end of it.

My gripe isn't the flavor, but they never hold together. I'm working on a ground chicken-cauliflower combination that I'm hoping turns out great.

I don't know what caused the weight gain... Portion sizes? Falling back into old habits? Stop working out? All or none of the above? We're about the same age. Each year gets exponentially harder to get the weight off, and easier to gain it back. You have to find what works and STICK WITH IT.
