4000 yards @ 75 minutes - still just focused on changing my catch and pull.

4000 yards @ 75 minutes solely focused on fingertip entry and immediate catch, straight pull through. Probably increased strokes/minute but it is going to take some real focus to break this particular habit.

Safe trip home @fishgutzy.

Thanks for sharing!

Okay, so I mentioned the S pull on freestyle. Then I found this: http://www.swimsmooth.com/catch.html I think I just proved how old I am.

@fishgutzy - Will be nice to be home and nice to see how consistent you are! @dwisehart - Two...two in one day, that is impressive. Active recovery is simply swimming slower letting your heart rate come back down? @juliet3455 - Ah the days of competitive swimming. I vaguely recollect them. The whistle drill, I had…

Back after a few days off due to feeling crappy in sympathy with the weather. 4000 yard @ 70 minutes - nothing fancy, just getting back in the water 500 warm up 10 x 50s @ 60 (5 free, 5 free/back) 5 x 200 pull @ 3:30 pull 1000 kick with fins 200 loosen 10 x 50 @ 60 (5 free, 5 free/back) 300 warm down

Wow, that change from 50 or so to 72 happened in just a few days. Interesting. I am at 50/51 strokes per minute right now. The trick is not to lose efficiency while increasing stroke rate, a mix of strength and being in shape I think.
-
@dwisehart - 8 workouts a week? Amazing commitment and obviously you are getting some great results. Good luck on hitting your time goals!

I am preparing the box of Kleenex.

So I got two different kinds of nose clips and neither work on my nose. Apparently it is wide where it should not be. I am gonna play a bit more, and see if I can't get one of them a bit wider.

I am a fan of less cruddy and wow, sounds like you have a goal. I have no doubt you will do well at the Games. @fishgutzy - For me it is a matter of how much time I want to spend in the pool. At this point, if I want to do more yardage, I will have to get faster. But that perspective of 5km being only 10 more…

Bah, got a terrible cramp in my calf which then would shift to my shin...back and forth so ended up only with 3500 yards. Ah well, at least I got a 70 minutes in.

Sounds like Scandinavian mixed with Dr. Who...worrisome. Will the table be bigger and colder on the inside then?

Okay, I may have laughed out loud at the Willy Wonka one....maybe!

I realized I did not know the difference between the two kicks. Are you asking about the scissor kick (used for side stroke) and frog/whip kick? Unless you are competing, I don't think it matter which you use.

Welcome @lorrpb! Love your profile pic!

5000 yards @ 100 minutes or hour and forty minutes, it was not pretty but I got it done.
-
4500 yards @ 85 minutes - got through it. @juliet3455 - That is just cold. And I would imagine that 30C feels extra warm with temps like that outside. Brrrr.
