  • @SurferGirl1982 Thank you for insight! So far Sept has been AF. Lots if challenges in front of me including weddings and start of football, areas where I traditionally pound the alcohol down. Just need to be strong. Thanks!
  • Thanks to folks on their stories and comments, very inspiring. So far September has been AF. Fighting a cold or allergy. Perhaps body protesting a bit. Have a ton of sick leave built up at work, so going to use it.
  • Welcome September. Continue to reduce if not just be sober. To keep myself occupied periodically working to redo my backyard from grass (its actually just mowered weeds) to something more ecofriendly to pollinators (birds-butterfly's-bees). Backbreaking work especially in the miserable humidity to break down the hard clay…
  • August remains AF, and overall, 12 consecutive AF days. Close call yesterday but I didn't cave. The remnants of the Hurricane of Florida are here, and we expect two straight days of rain. Olympics: Use to be the biggest Olympics cynic but have found these games really terrific and watch a lot of it. Sad it is almost over.…
  • Thank you for thread, have not been here for a while. Did a good 30-day AF month earlier in 2024 and tried moderate drinking and in no time went back to my 3 tall boy double IPAs in the evening and the resultant bad sleep, hanganxiety at work, weight loss sabotage, and concerned spouse. Today marks 10 days AF. When I got…
  • Happy March! Finished February with a 14-day AF streak my longest in several years. Sleep is still poor but I am seeing slight improvement. Wonderful not having to tackle a stressful job with a hangover. Guessing I have saved about $60-70 dollars. My recycle bin not loaded with empties is nice as well. Wishing you all…
  • It's been a while since I have been here, my first 7 day AF streak in ----forever it seems. Doing a friendly challenge with some social media folks on being AF and reading 15 minutes a night.
  • Well nice to be back. Holidays were mixed. About half between Thanksgiving and New Year were AF. The Holiday period for me ends 1 January which is also my wife's birthday. We had house full of kids-grandkids and friends. I did most of the cooking News Years Eve, and was quite a feast (unhealthy) and all. Coupled with…
  • Overall, a positive week. Spent most of it on a vacation with kids/grandkids at Massanutten VA. We rented a beautiful large house, and just hung out, ate, and played lots of games. My goal was to not drink during this vacation and accomplished it. We do these vacations a lot and usually I drink daily during them and…
  • April to date 1AF, 1A. In Maryland the Weather is finally breaking for Spring so time to start cleaning up outside and mulch and get out some flowers. Made the plunge and bought a battery powered mower. My old mower was my last gas or gas mix garden tool after converting the trimmer/blower/limb saw/chain saw to batteries…
  • Hello to April. March was mixed. Didn't meet my goals. Did get 6 AF days which was better than February. Three days drank excessive amounts. Exercise was good and in general doing 5 to 6 days hard cardio a week. Again, the beer sabotaged any really weight loss, lost one pound. I'm obese so that is not going to cut it.…
  • https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/profile/1000243482/SunnyDays930 Thanks for link on sleep. Number three on my list (more AF, weight, sleep). Cherry Tart juice sounds interesting. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/profile/1009739007/zensome Same here on weather and getting that extra hour of sunshine. Unfortunately…
  • Back again. Marylander. My goals are to increase my AF days and reduce during A days. Not been successful so far. Actually worse. Two high alcohol content IPAs daily turned into 3 or 4 daily. Been a bad two weeks. Lots of stress from my daughter who at 23 is not maturing. Stressing also because I have not been able so far…
  • Below average progress. Only two AF days this month. Still not hanging it up at all. My cardio exercise is up and I returned to my true love...running. For the first time since I did my section hike last September, I got back on the trail for trail running. A cold chilly gloomy day but beautiful 7.5 mile mostly run some…
  • Good Morning I am Brian. Like many my alcohol consumption increased dramatically when COVID came and I started working from home. I believe I crossed the line somewhere in 2022 when I noticed I started drinking everyday around 6pm. It would be 2-3 very strong IPA beers or a very strong vodka-cranberry mix. Before COVID I…
