I'm over 40 with about 20 lbs to lose. I am the poster child for "What the hell happened at 40?". Always been fit and healthy......then 40 came a knocking, LOL. I'm mostly exercise focused but could be good for recipe or two. Feel free to add for support.

How much water are you drinking? I've dropped probably 2 lbs just this week (I don't formally weigh in until this weekend) by doubling the amount of water I was drinking before. I went from 80 oz of water to 1 gallon. I've also started drinking a full glass of water as soon I get up in the morning. After being 'stuck' at…

Kelbels, I love, love, love your meme. Thank you for posting it.

Do you put tomato sauce in it? How do you keep it from falling apart in the pan?

Thank you for starting this thread. I'm a 41 year old struggling with weight loss plateau. So far am getting great ideas from those others who have posted on this thread.

I hear ya and completely agree. I have always enjoyed working out and the gym environment but always used it as my 'mental zen place'. Now I find I have to be more goal oriented. :)

Yikes! You mean it gets worse? I was complaining to my cardiologist (she happens to be a good friend) about my metabolism shutting down almost overnight at 40. She said "wait to you get to be my age.....you'll eat a salad and gain weight". I told her she was quite the ray of sunshine :/

I've found that one of the best parts of MFP is the motivation and pick me up from friends. Feel free to add me.

I'm right there with you Mogirl. Sent you a friend request.

I've only got 20 to go now but started at over 40 last July. I've sent you a friend request for motivational support.

Yep. I feel your pain. Having the same problem here. Takes twice as much energy to lose the weight and there's no wiggle room for bad food choices. Ugh is right!

Height 5'4 Don't necessarily care about the weight but do want to be down to 25% body fat. Right now I'm at 36.3%. Long way to go but am working hard to get there.

I use a Scosche Rhythm+ HRM arm band to track my heart rate during ALL of my workouts (weight lifting, HIIT, general cardio). They are just under $80 at most places. I've had good results using my HRM but only after pairing it to my Active Metabolic Zones which I figured out after an assessment. Downside is that the AM…

I need motivation especially from those who have hit long term plateaus. Ugh!

Sadly I've stopped losing weight. I'm stuck and have been over about 2 months now. Most of my meals are eaten by 3pm. Dinner is served between 6 and 7 pm (depending on whether or not I go to the gym after work). I definitely don't have anything to eat after 7:30 pm. I'll have to look into the Smartfood popcorn. All i…

I finally figured out how to open my diary (didn't realize it was closed). I plan on including my workout routines and my recipes. Feel free to add me.

I typically have a snack (almonds, power crunch bar, probiotic yogurt) around 2 pm but haven't tried alternatives like hot tea. I'm wondering if I should replace my mid-afternoon snack with some sort of supplement/shake?

I go through these spells as well. Just last week I fell apart at the gym after ANOTHER weekly weigh-in without improvement. It's so frustrating to do everything right and still have no positive results to show for it. Avoiding the self-hate mantra is tough. It helps to have a strong support system. It also helps to know…

Not new to MFP but new to the forum/community. I'm a great cheerleader for others and could always use encouragement (and ideas) myself. Feel free to add me.

Hi there. Wow! Congratulations on the weight loss. I'm very interested in hearing how you were able to get the weight off.

Thank you for taking the time to post on my intro. Your assumption was correct. I do work out with weights to just shy of failure. I don't do failure for one simple reason.....I have to be able to function after leaving the gym. However, I have gotten stronger faster. Having said that, I won't lie. My cardio sucks. Those…

Just decided to participate on the MFP forum and this was the first thread I clicked on. I'm 41 and since turning 40, I've had a difficult time keeping the weight off. I've been trying since last July to return to my 2013 weight. Initially had some good results up until the beginning of this year. Not a single pound has…
