Hi Sorry I'm new at adding friends and posting in forums. I hope I am doing it all right. I find it so important for people to encourage and support each other in their goals. I'm so glad I found this group. Thank you for adding me.

I am finding that having a good mix of male a female friends to support me is good. Each seems to offer a very different approach, attitude, encouragement and energy level to the whole support system.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Kelbels, it's funny you would post that quote from M. Jordan. It's his birthday today. And it's mine! Proudly 41. I'm not perfect and that's fine. Every day should be about improving without feeling *kitten* for too long when we stumble. Love you guys!

I'm 46, signed on January 3 intending to lose 100+ pounds. Have lost almost 13 thus far.

My only exercise is walking - various distances. Have done as little as 1.5 miles and as much as 7 miles in a single walk. Plan to get up to 10 miles in a single walk come springtime, and continue doing at least one super-long walk a week with 3-4 5K walks throughout the remainder.

Hi, I'm looking to make new friend on here. I'm 45 and have had a few failed attempts at losing weight. Started lifting about 6 months ago and my measurements are changing even if the scale number isn't. Now I have my gym habit on track looking to cut so I can lose some of the extra fat I'm carrying around. Friend me here or on Fitocracy where I log my workouts.

46 here...almost 47...that's hard to say. Been on mfp for about a month now and closely logging my foods and running/walking/moving each day. The biggest thing for me is being accurate in logging. Buy a food scale and weigh everything, then double check the nutrient label until it becomes a habit.
I'm down 22lbs since the first of the year, about 11 until my first goal.
If I can do it anyone can. Watch your CICO and get moving.

    YOU CAN DO THIS!

The way I see it, I cannot get younger...but I can get fitter.
  • I've been working my way back into the routine. Would love to find be added for more support and motivation. Get me back to being accountable again. I had originally lost 140 pounds with 20 left to reach my goal but life got a little overwhelming and thrown upside down AND I gained a little bit back. I am looking to lose what I gained plus finish what I started for a total of 60 to go... Time for me now that my life is put back in order again. Please feel free to add me! Thank you!! We CAN all do this!!!

45, I don't think I've lost my edge, I don't intend to lose my edge, and that will only be possible by continuing to work my a** off staying in shape!

Hi! I am 47 and have been on MFP for 2 months and have lost 30 pounds. Dr has me on phentermine which has helped a lot with my appetite. I started out at 448 and trying to stay motivated is so tough as I have so far to go. Right now it's all about feeling better!

Hi. Just turned 42 here. Been doing MFP intermittently for several years. After a couple injuries, I now find myself at my heaviest weight ever. I'm in graduate school so I'm not sure how much I can commit to this thread but I sent a few friend requests out to those of you who seem similar to me. I think just having some people with similar goals show up on my feed will help. I've been thinking of joining up with a Fitocracy Coach too.

I'm 53. Fell off the Fit Pal wagon for a while and trying to get back on track. To be honest my weakness is chips.
Trying to get back into working out and eating healthy. Could use some junk food craving.. gave that up for veggies friends.

In my facebook timeline MyFitnessPal is asking the question "what is the best piece of advice of health advice you have received" here is my answer.

Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. My doctor, is a sports medicine doctor for a well known sports organization told me this. When I stopped thinking I could exercise away the extra calories the weight finally came off. The exercise is helpings be stronger, keep it off, feel better, and look better with the weight loss.

Yes! Please accept my membership application! Turned 44 in December. I am 5'5" and weigh 155 lbs. My first goal is to get down to 140 lbs. Main form of exercise is walking with trips to the gym 2 - 3 times a week for (surprise!) more walking (treadmill) plus a circuit of 9 weight machines. I am relying on the 1200 calorie a day diet that MFP has arranged for me to lose the weight, as I've never been a gym fanatic, but have always been lightly active. Let's do this!

Hi everyone! Just turned 41 and after battling thyroid issues, finally down 8 lbs. My goal was 10 with a side goal of 15; which I never even entertained. I'm only 2 lbs from my goal and it's only February so my side goal is a possibility! I am a C25K drop out, so I started using the Zombies, Run! 5k app and another app on Google Play called Seven (12 workouts in 7 minutes). I have to say it is totally different than couch to 5k and I'm in love with it! I'll be finishing my 1st week today. I'm currently on Garmin Connect under jenf040315 if anyone wants to link. Good luck!!

Hi everyone. I'm 40 and on a slow weight loss journey at the moment. Technically less than 5 lbs from "healthy" weight. I'd feel healthier if I lost more, but am more motivated to become more active. Feel free to add me as a friend of you'd like.

I'm 40, and boy is it so much harder now then when I was 35 to get those extra pounds off. Muscle gain is easy, love handles on the other hand is a different story.
