That's fantastic. I remember when mine was 28. I had it measured recently at a health fair at work. Measure OVER clothing was 38"! Holy cow, I let myself go. Don't know if I can hit 28 again, but I know I can hit 30!

That's awesome! I cannot wait for the seatbelt (or pants waist) overspill to go away!

This made me laugh. I LOVE bakery goods.

1. To maintain some control and not overeat too much at holiday dinners. I know I will go over calories, but I am planning to leave some room in my calorie budget several days in advance; and I am aiming to not be a glutton. 2. To lose 10 more pounds by December 31st.

@Archcurl Congratulations!! That's a great news!

Got home last night and immediately changed into a workout top. Did a couple household chores and was absolutely trying to talk myself out of exercising. At the last second, I said "Cindy -- you're already half way there. Open the app and do SOMETHING." So, I did a 25 minutes of arms and shoulders with light weights.…

I'm Cindy~ Hi all! I've never joined a challenge before, and I'm looking forward to this. I'm 55. 5'9". At my happiest, I wore size 4 and 6 jeans--that was 13 years ago. Gained a ton; then lost most of it and got into shape about four years ago; then over the last four years, gained everything back and then some. Currently…

Started spinning a couple of weeks ago. Since I haven't exercised in 4 years, it has been HARD. But, on Sunday, I got up to 20 minutes--full effort with just a couple of short water breaks. Next goal is 30 minutes.

I do not know how to keep them at bay or prevent them. My feet and lower legs have a tendency to cramp at night. I've tried supplements, etc. Nothing prevents them for me. What does relax the spasm VERY quickly for me is heat. If it's a bad cramp, I immediately take my rice heating pad to the microwave and, when it's hot,…

No, you don't HAVE to. And, in that situation, if I've burned the calories right before bed time, I wouldn't eat anything either. You're right, nothing bad will happen. BUT, if you do that day after day after day, you are only taking in 900 net calories a day. If your body doesn't rebel in some way, consider me baffled.…

When I smoked, I was always thin. What they call "skinny fat." No muscle to speak of. I quit smoking in 2014. And started menopause. The weight crept up up up. In 2016, I joined a gym and, coincidentally, at the same time, joined their annual team competition thing. It was fun -- hard work, but fun. The accountability to a…

That's the EXACT SAME for me! When I slack in one area, the other areas are not far behind!

It is cumbersome, but once you get the methods down and have your scale, paper, pen and calculator handy when you are cooking or logging food, you can do this. Once you get numbers on ANYTHING, write it down - save to your recipes here on MFP. That way, you only need to go through the chore once. Try several methods…

I lost 23 pounds or so in Spring of 2016. Fell "off the wagon" at the holiday season last year. Have been on and off with food and exercise and gained every pound back. I suspect menopause and hormone replacement therapy are partially at fault, but I need to overcome that handicap. I got back on the wagon on Sunday -…

Why would you guys ever choose to give up? If it is not quick or painless, so what? Keep getting up, dust off your knees if you have to, and every day make a choice to keep going -- for whatever your reasons are.

I try to stick to about 1450 a day. Standard food including regular ice cream!!! 19 pounds down in 5 months with about 5-8 pounds to go. Open diary.

I love love love this thread! I start 5x5 SL a few weeks ago, so maybe someday I'll be able to post pics here! You are all very inspiring and motivating, so thanks for sharing -- especially before and after pictures!!

Nacho Cheese Doritos. I can budget calories to eat a large ice-cream cone; or a bunch of bread at Outback; or other desserts; or chips and dip; and on and on. But, since starting my journey in February, I have not even tasted a Nacho Cheese Dorito because, well, because they are like crack!

What you describe sounds like what my boyfriend experiences when he tries to run or walk very fast (he was trying to do C25K). The doctor said basically to "slow down and listen to your body." I don't remember the name of the condition that was diagnosed, but I do remember it was important to NOT run or walk fast "through…

I am nearly 50 and have been "skinny fat" ALL of my adult life. I've never enjoyed exercise. I could never make it a habit. When I quit smoking and then quit vaping, the scale slowly but surely creeped up. Then there are all the age-related changes that come with not being fit. In February of this year, I decided to get a…

Yup, I do! Thank you very much, Deluxmary!

John, I just read your other thread about giving up and now I see this one. If I were in your shoes, honestly, I would see a therapist to check out a psychosomatic connection to the hunger panGs and issues within my psyche.

Are you saying that you try to make your food choices based on the food database here? If that is the case, I understand your frustration, as that probably won't work very well. I would politely suggest that you Google things like "healthy breakfast ideas," "high-protein snacks," "foods with high calcium" or whatever the…

Hi Drea!! What are your goals and struggles with your fitness?
-
Good for you for making the decision to get fit!! If you are really sore from just a couple of days of exercising, I would encourage you to dial it back a bit so that it is more likely you will keep going. I believe that slow and steady wins the fitness race, so to speak, over the long haul. I take rest days only when…

Every Friday or Saturday morning - or both.

I agree! I think 30 pounds in a year is fantastic! Way to go!!
