Pretty pleased with myself  The semester started Monday, and it's going great. Exhausting, but great. Pants are ridiculously big. I bet I need some two sizes smaller now. I did some experimenting and realized I just need to cut out bread. It makes me bloated, sluggish, and I don't sleep well. I thought I'd gained…

My legs have been feeling better. Not great, but a lot better. I've been missing running, and this morning around 5 AM did the first day of a running program to ease back into it. It went OK. Some pain but I'm hoping it's just working out the kinks rather than injury. And made it to a 6.17 train for an all-day faculty mtg…

Been staying in my calorie goals but not back in the gym yet: house re-decorating / re-modeling is a workout in and of itself! Over the weekend, I started wandering into what has always seemed to me to be the hard-core, guy section of Home Depot. Everything is big, stacked high, and no labels. I was in shorts and a…

I just got home from swimming 80 laps, a tie for my longest swim. I wanted to do 100, but had to pee around lap 40, so I also did one full-out sprint (into the locker room). So much cardio in one day!

I just can't get over how much stamina I have gained, both physically and mentally. Yesterday, I worked on my library from 7 AM to around 8 PM: up and down a ladder and stairs carrying boxes of books, installing new shelving, etc. By the end of today it will be completely finished, with everything on shelves and organized…

I swam 80 laps today, the most I've ever swum. I usually just stop at 40 or a mile. I could have kept going, but they threw me out of the pool to close up. New Pool Dude today was literally going up and back by the time I was barely half-way down one length. I tried for all I was worth to catch up, and there was just no…

The guys in the swim lanes on both sides of me do not seem to know that we are racing, but we are. Nor do I think they realize they keep losing, but they do.

Another swim today -- I didn't have time to do the full mile, unfortunately, but I continue to get faster. Lifting weights makes such a difference. Took me all day, but I finally have one of my fall course syllabi finished along with a schedule that goes up to the first examination. Feels great to have the energy to get…

Despite being pretty tired, I went swimming this afternoon. I'm glad I went bc I think it was just a Brain Rebellion rather than legitimately needing a rest. I also got my article off to the publisher. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

Just home fr swimming a mile. I lapped / passed a guy TWICE; I cdn't keep up with him at all last summer.

Absolutely. If you go for a walk in the woods and your tracker doesn't track it, did it really happen?

I really can't believe that a small blip up on the scale can feel so awful and uncomfortable, 24/7. I'm up 3 lbs for the last month or so, and it feels like 50. And it's not felt right or normal the entire time. Old me cd just go up and up and have it not really register; it seemed to make no difference in how I felt. Now,…

A few for me: * To get to 105 lbs by the start of the semester; that would mean losing about 8 lbs by the end of August. I don't lose that fast normally, but I'd love to start a new year at that weight and only be 5 lbs away from my ultimate goal of 100 lbs even. * Swim three times a week and lift weights twice * It would…

I've had a few the last couple of days: Yesterday, I went to audition for the lead in a play at the local theater. (WHAT?!) I didn't get to go because the time was posted incorrectly, and only the usual small, committed group of actors got notified, but I was really going to audition! Me!! This one is definitely a NSV even…

A few for me: My library is coming along: after a bazillion trips down to the basement to bring up books, I'm nearly done. There are probably a couple dozen books in some semblance of organized piles on the floor, but most are on shelves now. I guess there's a couple dozen still in the basement. One major bummer: I…

I'm on the low side (am 5') and average about 1200. If it were me, I'd lower and see how it goes. It really is trial and error at first to see how it goes, and there isn't a lot of wiggle room when you're little. I'd also recommend some extra, new activity: burning 100 calories / day (which is maybe walking for 20 or 30…

Last summer, the regulars at the pool were all quicker and had more stamina than I. Today, they were already in the pool when I arrived, and not only did I pass them, but I maintained my much faster pace the entire time! Also, I have been writing and am on-track to submit my article to editors of a journal for possible…

Interesting thread ... No one at work knows me before I lost all my weight (100+ lbs). I notice people comment on me being little (which I am) and about eating healthy and not eating much (true) every so often. Not constantly, and when it happens it's in a matter-of-fact way. No one ever commented on my body or eating…

A little background: as I started losing a noticeable amount of weight, I was confronted unexpectedly with a range of issues with which I had not been dealing. This was a shock to me as I consider myself to be thoughtful and "tuned in," but I realized that, for me, food was my drug. I've been dealing with all that…

A few for me: Yesterday, it was so hot and humid, and I had to walk back and forth to the classroom and my office throughout the day. It was noticeable how comfortable I was in the heat compared to last summer, when I was about 40 lbs heavier and, at that point, had already lost 80 total. It's so different being in a body…

Congratulations! This is cool -- I've been watching you experiment being car-less. I'd love to move and be able to do the same.

I recently ordered some clothes online and had them shipped to me. I am swimming in the SM shirts and the size 4 shorts don't stay up -- so everything has to go back. I hope the XS shirts work. I'm creating a library at home, and yesterday I painted all day. I am worn out. I wonder how many calories you burn doing that?…

I completely understand what several of you are saying about choosing your clothes rather than settling for what is available. I have more bags of clothes going to charity today. I am pretty sure only things that fit are left. Soon, I will go through everything again and get rid of the "Yes, it fits, but I do not like it"…

Don't listen to people who have 1,000s or 10,000s (!) of posts and have not lost weight and / or maintained a loss. People who are succeeding or have succeeded have figured out what works for them, and when they share that, it can be quite valuable. From the "right" people, you can get very helpful ideas about how to make…

I had no idea that ribs go ALL the way around to your back. I guess they hold everything up. Pretty clever design. First I discover that arm pits are actual, literal pits. And now this. Seriously, who knew?!

I've been noticing that my weight loss correlates to these kinds of "things" -- me feeling and acting more like ... me, for lack of a better way to put it. It's not that I was always not doing what I wanted or not feeling powerful, but I do feel like new body = new life. For me, a lot of my (old) stuff doesn't fit any more…

I have a few NSVs: Regarding clothes: I'm packing up and getting ready to donate "old me" things that never will be worn by me again, either because they're too big or I don't love them. Regarding stuff: Over the last few months, I've packed up and donated carloads full of things (sets of dishes, appliances, Christmas…

I just swam 1 mile  On the way out of the house, I grabbed shorts and a very small-looking t-shirt to wear when I got out of the pool. This shirt looks so ridiculously tiny to me -- like it belongs to a small child -- and it's also fitted. (Found it in an OLD box of clothes.) I washed it, folded it up, and thought I…

Because I cannot wear any of my now way-too-big pants and because teaching writing naked would probably be frowned up, I wore jeans (that fit) to class today. Me?! Earlier in the week, when I was dressed up (but in crazy too-big pants), I noticed everyone else in shorts, cut offs, polo shirts, etc. Still, I went through…

My summer session classes start today. All prepared, syllabi ready, and I go to put on my "professor clothes" that I just had on mid-May. They look ridiculous they are so big now. That's pretty wild considering it's only been 6 wks since I've last had them on and the number on the scale hasn't changed that much.
