  • Mate, it's everywhere in the UK (Sainsbury's, Tesco, etc.) Have a look here as an example:…
  • I really struggle with this. It's not about eating less (quantities of food that keep you satisfied) which is a concept I have always rejected and knew it would be impossible for me (and I suppose for a lot of people too). Feeling hungry all the time is a no-go. And that is why MFP is all about I think. It's about making…
  • My body transformation has been quite important and unless you're blind, you would totally notice. As a matter of fact, people barely recognise me if they haven't seen me in more than six months. Although my weight loss has been gradual, it became very visible after 6 / 7 months as I don't have any cheek left, and I do…
  • I now run one hour at 8mph (no incline) as a "let's go easy today" workout.
  • Well, that very much depends on how much cardio exercising you do. The weird thing is that when you train too much, then you sex drive can reduce significantly. I had reached a point when I would do cardio twice a day i.e. swim 2km / cycle 35km / run 10km and I can tell you that I had no sex drive whatsoever. Not just with…
  • I guess there's an element of that too. For some reason, I don't eat much red meat these days because I just don't feel like it...(well, the problem is that I do need the iron though!) But that was a process that started a long time before getting into a healthier lifestyle. ;)
  • When it comes from people you love, that is indeed the best compliment ever. Last Sunday, my best friend did tell me how proud and happy he was for me and you know what, that's very good to hear even I always have a hard time taking compliments live (I'm usually lost for words in these situations so I end up just saying "…
  • You may haven't lost weight but your body composition may have changed in the meantime ! Same weight but less fat and more muscle tissue, as an example. ;)
  • Absolutely ! Not only don't I crave for these foods but it's also that I don't digest them as well as the other foods... Yesterday, I had meetings all day. Couldn't eat my homemade food. We only had sandwiches and cakes...they were good it's way more bread / cream cheese / added sugar than I'm used to these days... I took…
  • Don't get me wrong. I still have the occasional fat / cheese / fries... I have chased away any food, it's just that it seems that the food I was drawn to before do not seem that attractive these days... As an example, I was crazy for pasta...any pasta, any style...I could eat one large pan of pasta myself... Now, my wife…
  • This is a very cultural thing. I can tell you that in the UK, people are very reluctant to comment on a visible weight loss. Mine is very visible. The Brits are very much into the "how can I convey the message in the most remote way possible in order to not look disrespectful or impolite". I get a lot of people being…
  • Excellent ! What an achievement, well done ! You look lovely !
  • Well, my elder brother (who is obese) was telling me about his recent trip to Vietnam and commented to me at some point "but you wouldn't have trouble since you're not fat"...it really sounded like I was never fat when 9 months ago I was morbidly obese...
  • Well, another one for me...the new school term has begun this morning. I dropped the kids off with my wife and stayed a bit as it is our last one's first day in primary. We've been at the same school for years now so we know a lot of parents, teachers and TAs. One TA was telling my wife "is that your new husband?"…
  • Really? 55? And a grandmother? Un-be-lie-va-ble ! You look so much younger !! Well done !
  • Well, I guess it is also part of your sister's responsibility to lose weight if she wants to. Nothing wrong about being happy that you took your own life in hands. However, my elder brother is morbidly obese. So was I when I started to change my lifestyle beginning of this year. I'm happy for me that I'm in a "slightly…
  • Some people do that...and that annoys me a lot. I mean sometimes they do it to please but more to some people just don't realize that pleasing someone does mean that it can't be done against their will ! (I mean sometimes it looks like they'd like to force-feed you !)
  • As I was preparing for a busy afternoon at home with loads of friends over, wearing my brand new shorts that I bought in August, I couldn't understand why they kept falling off to the point to my knees as I had bought them quite tight. I told my wife who answered "but you have visibly lost quite a lot since three weeks…
  • Right now, I'd like to get to 82kg before I go to the US end of the month...that's 5kg left to lose. That would also put me back into the healthy BMI range. When I actually think my first goal was to get to 85kg... I'm happy that I don't want to stop there now !
  • I'm actually the opposite...due to too much exercising apparently...
  • Well, I've noticed that now I'm one of the thinnest dads among the parents at my son's football club and at the beginning of this year, I was one of the fattest. Yeah !
  • I know that MFP does use NEAT and you're right. But I try to stick to my TDEE excluding additional exercise calories. I do eat back some of these calories from time to time but usually I consider exercising a separate matter i.e. I use it to tone up, avoid the skinny fat syndrome, be fit but not to lose weight. If I ever…
  • I think this is a sound piece of advice. I would never recommend to anyone eating back even partially the calories you burn during workout (unless you feel you need some energy on a particular day).
  • Well, if you had read your own link: "If you know how many calories you have burned via a heart rate monitor or other tracking device, you can add a custom exercise to your personal database." Counting calories burnt while exercising is a rather inaccurate job anyway but even more so for strength training. However, using a…
  • I have an Apple Watch so I'm able to measure the calories I burn from resistance / strength workout sessions under "Other". Then MFP downloads it with my Apple Healthkit App... but otherwise, you can't really guess it.
  • That is simply not true. This study from 1996 "had very little scientific basis and later studies showed that aspartame was in fact safe to consume". http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Goodfood/Pages/the-truth-about-aspartame.aspx
  • Well, I would naturally be suspicious towards any type of excess. A healthy lifestyle comes with balanced diet and moderation in everything. You don't need to drink water as your daily water consumption goal is met by far with just your diet soda intake. Besides, please let us all remind that there is also water in food.…
  • Definitely through a digital scale that can also measure other body composition metrics (including water %, etc.). That'd be more accurate. You can find some on Amazon at a reasonable price. ;)
