Headed out to my local second hand shop for some work jeans. They organize the pants by inches, ie. measuring the waist of every pair of pants that come in instead of looking for sizes. The plus sized section starts at 38". That's also where I start looking for my pants.
Apparently I can start looking in the 36" section.
Also: Fleece-lined jeans for winter for $4.50? HELZ YES!!19 -
I cycle daily but usually cheat a little bit by taking the easy way out and avoiding the steep short hills wherever I can (hey, it's a 25-mile cycle ride without the horrible hills thrown in).
Last week I finally combated one particularly difficult hill (albeit in crawler gear). It felt amazing to get to the top, even though I was sweating like crazy and gasping for breath like a fish out of water. Pulse was more or less at it's peak rate as well but the feeling of achievement was incredible. I've done this hill every day since.
Today was time to progress so I took on another hill and beat it. Hard work, but again, the feeling of achievement was incredible. When I got to the top, thinking "YAY!!" to myself, there was a couple who congratulated me for making it to the top without getting off and pushing the bike up. Felt even better to have my humble achievement recognised by others33 -
Looking sexy as *kitten* at my wedding 2 weeks ago!31

Was doing some household furniture moving up and down stairs and I didn't get winded. In fact, I felt great! I've got a long way to go, but the immediate changes in my health are noticeable and that's a big non-scale victory.22

I have eyelids!!! I always thought I had hooded eyes and that wearing eyeshadow was a waste of time. Nope, just fat rolls above my eyes (who knew right?)! I have a whole new realm of makeup to delve into36

Vintage clothes!
I've lost a good deal of weight pretty quickly (about 120 pounds since last August) and I'm at that point where I don't know what I look like, or what size I wear, or what looks good on me. And I need all new clothes! Shopping is a revelation.
I love vintage clothes but have never EVER been able to wear them--I've always been both too big and too tall. I'm still too tall for most, but I got the most ADORABLE vintage skirt in the mail today. It FITS!24 -
Two today:
1. Looking in the mirror earlier, I saw a hint of emerging collarbones! I've been waiting for some sight of them for a while!
2. I realised, at the chiropractor's yesterday, that he hasn't got new wider tables - it's the new narrower me taking up less room on them.

Thrift shops are the BEST places to shop when we're losing weight! You just re-donate the clothes when they get too big and pick up something smaller

I just zipped up my new, beautiful, knee high, chocolate brown suede boots -- that are NOT wide calf - thank you very much!44

Love this!! I just bought a dress that I thought would go great with my extra wide calf boots, but now they are too big! Too bad because I never wore them, but yay I get to buy new boots. I think I've gone down to single wide calf LOL12 -
Some of you will know that I occasionally post here when I have an NSV worth sharing, but I want everyone to know that I read this thread. Every. Single. Day. Not only do I rejoice at all your achievements, it makes me reflect on my own and appreciate how far I've some myself. Often it's difficult to remain focused from day to day. So thank you. And keep them coming.
This week I have four...
✔️I thought not much had changed but today I saw a lady I'd not seen in maybe a year, and she said "wow, you have faded away!". She meant it nicely, and it made me smile.
✔️I have been inspired by a young girl I have friended on MFP (you know who you are). Although I have never "met" her, the positive energy and courage this woman shows is amazing. If she can harness this strength and stick at it, she will not only achieve amazing results, she will pass that strength on to others.
How do I know this? Because I think that maybe my own positivity is helping others in their journey too.
✔️Recently I was told I need further surgery and am booked in for two weeks time. The old me would have taken that as an opportunity to eat through the fridge like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and throw exercise out the window. The new me has other ideas.
✔️And finally, on Sunday while visiting my parents, my Dad pulled me aside and told me how proud he is of me. That whatever I'm doing is working, and that I look incredible for 43 years old. And THAT my friends, is the best NSV ever. Xx60 -
Today is my one year anniversary of starting this journey.
If I had known then that I wouldn't be at my goal weight yet by now, I probably wouldn't have started at all.
But boy am I glad I did!! I'm so much stronger and fitter than I've ever been. I'm so much more confident in what my body can do, not to mention what it looks like.
I'm amazed at what a difference a year can make! Here's to many more years of good choices, one day at a time43 -

When it comes from people you love, that is indeed the best compliment ever.
Last Sunday, my best friend did tell me how proud and happy he was for me and you know what, that's very good to hear even I always have a hard time taking compliments live (I'm usually lost for words in these situations so I end up just saying " Thanks ! That's good to hear ! ".

I started my weight loss a week and a half ago. I struggled to pull off 7 min straight on the elliptical on resistance 2. Yesterday, I did 36 minutes on resistance 3 without stopping!
It feels fantastic!38 -

That is fantastic!!! it's funny how when we start it's all about the number and getting it off fast but once we start the health benifit and how you feel trump that and we can relax on the end goal as long as we are on the path to it!!!15 -

This is awesome and the same thing happened to me...my first time on the elliptical was 10 minutes and I was DYING. And it was a SLOW speed--the machine kept pausing because I was going below the minimum (2.5mph maybe?). I stepped off the machine and my legs about gave out. About 6 weeks later, I did 65 minutes (averaged 5-6mph), and only stopped then because the machine shut off. It is so encouraging to see improvement there. Great job to you!21 -
I'm so excited I fly a lot for work and asking for a seat belt extension has become an ebarassing fact of life for me. Well sitting on a flight now and no seat belt extension required!!! I have such a long weight loss journey ahead but this victory will definitely keep me going!50

Thank you everyone for these stories. They are inspiring. Here is mine. I live in an area with only a few good clothing stores. There is one small shop with beautiful women's clothing. They have a few plus items but not many. Yesterday, after looking in the window for years, (and losing 90 lbs.) I went in. They had several size 14 pants that fit, many xl tops and even two dresses. I no longer have to look in the window and wish I could wear the clothes.

I'm wearing a pair of size 18 pants today, and they're comfortable! I've been struggling to get back down into that size, as size 20s are far too big but it seemed 18s were all far too small. Apparently i've lost enough now that 18s are comfy again.35

I went to a business meeting yesterday and they had a lot of food, but I brought my mid-day snack with me and ate that and only ate half of a cookie from the food provided at the meeting.24

Down to my last notch in my belt, gonna be time to cut some more pretty soon!28

My mind is starting to shift from this:
-What goodies can I fit in my calorie budget today?
-I want to be thin
-my next goal weight is #
To:
-What do I need to eat to make sure I meet my macros today?
-I want to be healthy and strong
-My next goal is to enter a lower obesity class (and therefore health risk) and lower my BMI by this much
-What do I need to do to ensure I prevent as much muscle loss as possible?
Don't get me wrong, I definitely still enjoy my favorites but fueling my body was never on my mind before like it is now. It is truly a remarkable thing when your goals and mindset shift to wanting to be healthy, strong and able bodied.39 -
Started back logging yesterday - need 40 workouts by Oct. 15 - 3 down - 37 to go!
I want to reach my 1000 workouts by Oct. 15th, started logging workouts approx. 3 years ago.18 -
Bought a full length mirror.25

Sooooo excited to finally have something to add!! (1) I've had to move my belt to the last hole and now I'm 1/2 inch past that (2) I now fit pants that I bought last year that were too tight (3) An xl gym top I bought on Aug 15th is verrry roomy now (4) I did 4 sets of lunges today (12/12 stationery, 10/12 walking), and I wasn't ready to die!! and lastly, I've eaten clean for the last 22 days. Slow and steady totally wins the race! Woot! Woot!17

Nearly lost my shorts on a run today. Had already replaced them once they got a little big, but the new ones don't have a pocket (didn't realise I'd start running at some point), so I used an old pair... Might have to stuff my key in my bra to avoid any embarrassing situations
I also finished the first 4 weeks of C210K, got that scary first 20 min run coming up soon and am equally dreading it and looking forward to it!18 -
Slightly weird one but.. I looked down today and all I saw was boobs!
Usually there's boobs then a belly sticking out past them right below, I can't remember the last time I didn't see my belly. Its my motivation to keep going for today34 -
So both my husband and I are doing this together. This morning I told him that I felt so confident that from now on I would just be walking around in my underwear all the time. His response "and that's my nsv right?"51

Hubby has joined me on my MFP journey and signed up yay!
Hubby noticed this NSV lol - I used to have a really chubby neck area that bulged somewhat and now its disappeared, must be all the good nutrition...I have literally had it for years and now it looks like a normal neck so happy29
