Nice little spinning reel and rod. Actually my personal favorite conventional set up. That should work well for you, especially if you start using artificial lures. You a lefty? I see it is set up for right handed retrieve.

I believe that particular rod comes with 10lb test. If you think bass will be your occasional target, then 10-12 lb line.
