Late to the party. Hang in there Sam with DMIL and sending prayers to your DW. Yeah Bill me too I drink my coffee black (as we say in our neck of the woods) no cream or sugar added. Well after a record setting 18 days in a row of no rain in the month of January we got back to the wet weather and our temp zoomed up to 50…

Oh Steve I can't even imagine what connie is dealing with. Sending lots of prayers her way. Yesterday hit 52 degrees in PDX after a start around 25 deg. Today it's dropped to at least 24 degrees and was a nippy ride for me. Yup as Dave says a slight chance of snow or snow mixed coming up around Monday-ish. Sorry about that…

Yeah I feel bad for the Bills fans too. I really does seem like the hard calls do "always" go the way of the KC Chiefs. So Bill ya asked about storing bikes in a rainproof shed. I would think just fine as long as the chains have been lubed a bit before storage. I have had chains show a pinch of rust in my garage when I put…

Later check in meself! A bit surprised Dave eschews walking in the cold. True enough I have biked a little later some days too although I have biked in the coldest part of the day yesterday in 24degrees. Walked today in 26 degrees and it was beautiful with DW. Careful on the wetland bridges which had frost but not…

Amen Bill. I have run two marathons but honestly 1/2 marathon was more "fun". Probably didn't train enough for the full monty marathon. All those experiences do indeed help us thru tough times. Must have been a delight Dave seeing what the young 3rd graders could do musically. frosty this a.m. but ok with low tire…

Glad that Joanne has some respite from the chemo. Our weather has just remained the same stuck in the 30s from lo 30s to upper 30s for several days in a row. No frost again this a.m. DDs B-day tonight so will take her out to dinner. Need to get back at it and lose a couple of pounds for starters Cheers

Oh Mike my thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of thatfirefighter who lost his DW and premies. Steve good to not challenge the ice too much. Good luck with the crown. Never made it to 40deg last two days and not sure about today. 31deg here right now. Hope bill is doing well today too. Heck everybody doing…

Bill that local cinema sounds great for entertainment. Amen Steve you REALLY don't want to slip on the snow/ice stuff with your rib and all!! Yes prayers indeed for all with treatments. Tis a misty moisty morning and foggy is the weather indeed. 34 degrees and some fog and mist but zero frost. Had nice early ride.

Yup DITTO double darn ya Lee I too have to be satisfied with my veggie omelet and dry toast. HRMPH 41 degrees here but cloudy. Yup my thoughts too about Sir Great Dane resting on his laurels in a new place at peace. Hang in the snowyjr1. It's a marathon not a short footrace for sure as we all know. Had to google "hoop…

Oh Mike I get the cold hands thing. I use boiled/felted woolen mittens (not as thick or as good as they use to be but help) plus silk liners, plus Gortex like mitten shells AND some small zippo battery powered warmers inside. WiMp indeed I am. It was 35 deg and raining today and I wore that combination to keep my hands…

Oooh Lee hang in there w your knee and do what's best for ya!!! Cold indeed. Steve oh Steve 5 weeks aint nearly long enough for broken rib sadly. Colder here than in Tumwater/Olympia area where Dave lives. About 34 degrees this a.m. and rode carefully on dry roads and timidly across trail bridges which all had a light…

WOW Lee! Hangonto your hat. I was in a tent one time that got hit with part of a microburst one time in Idaho along the Middle Fork of the Salmon river. Broke tent poles for sure. Good to see ya getting organized at the Oregon Coast Bill. Hope all is continuing to get better for you. Hope folks are doing ok with the…

Glad your piano is slowly coming around Mike. Same thing when I tuned several octaves in an old upright grand piano with a wooden harp that was straining. Yup Happy B-Day Heather. Glad to hear Collin shoveled out some snow to get to work. Oh I am a 79 yr old guy who likes to Bike daily and chase after elusive Dinosaurs…

Oh Steve yeah Collin needs to get the ole snow blower out to help. Another dry bland day here too but did see the sun this morning. Nice. Might hit 50deg again. Yup my temp went up over night too to 49 degrees first thing this a.m. Hang in there snowyjr1 sounds like a lot of snow. Sending lots of Ts and Ps for your DW Sam as she starts…

My eye sight really doesn't affect my cycling particularly. I have friends with amlyopia ("lazy eye syndrome") they do just fine bike riding. folks do fairly ok (and legal) driving in all 50 states + District of Columbia with vision in one eye. The hardest thing is to thread a needle to do minor clothing darning type of…
-
Yup looked lots lots of rain in Florence yesterday. some State Parks closed today due to local flooding and landslide. We just don't do that well with rain and our soils. eye appt was ok. Honestly I am pretty "blind" in my left eye for quite some time anyway. Just is.... The bigger problem is "stereopsis" or what many/most…

Yup weather makes for more aches and pains with many of us too. Ah a New Year's Eve crown and not a tiara. Uh no midnight rides for us with celebratory stuff. Years ago I use to set off my CARBIDE CANON on New Year's Eve but alas w may watch some early taped celebrations from elsewhere in the world and country and go to…

Looks like mostly dry here in PDX area south of Dave (Tumwater/Olympia WA) dry walk this morning. Yup Lee try to get out and bike daily. I have ridden 332 days so far this year so not missed too many days for travel, weather, or medical stuff. I try to get in at least one ride daily and hopefully not during the wettest…

Morning gentlemen!! Yup our 10 day forecast is monotonous too. Showers and spits followed by some rain, brief clearing. Repeat. Yup take care of those ribs Steve. Sam ; I too am grateful that the lump turned out to be nothing cancerous Got out for a nice ride this a.m. with just a couple of spritzes and only one that was…
-
Awe Sam that just seems like great news about your wife and the new diagnosis. Wow Lee I could just eat that picture of prime rib and eggs. Wow indeed. Yup Dave. Lots of snow in the cascades now. We had a very wet Christmas day with over an inch. Still some local flooding near us and ducks swimming on the adjacent golf…
-
wonderful photo of the you and the grand kid Lee. sounds like you had a nice Christmas and wonderful eats. I enjoyed watching Northern Illinois beat Fresno State a couple of days ago in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl..I finally remembered that they beat Notre Dame in South Bend this year. No football or basketball for us…
-
Prime rib sounds great Bill my DSIL is doing smoked brisket which should be great Sorry about your rib Steve. Glad ya got to meet up with Lee! Rainy as heck here early this morning during my bike ride. Sheesh. oh well onward I go. Stay comfy all.
-
Ha ha. Yea my DW broke a rib landing atop a 14" terracotta flowerpot. Hers was only slightly displaced but still hurts much later. It was on same side as her mastectomy previously which exacerbates the situation. I would say that breaking a rib is one of the worst choices for a first noticeable broken bone. Mike that just…
-
Mike the piano looks amazing. Not surprised that your HO rules are just limiting piano teaching and the usual stuff. Pretty typical. Glad ya got it moved and all in one piece. Beautiful. Steve: so sorry about your ribs. OUCH. I have had some broken ones and one that was disarticulated (pulled away)from the backbone…
