  • Wow it was 49 degrees here early this morning brrrrr. Got down to 58deg in the house with some windows open. brrr. Will get up to lower 80s today and into the 90s maybe upper 90s on Sun, Mon, Tue. We'll see. I am sure my Brandywine Tomato didn't like 49 degrees. Hope it doesn't interfere with ripening too much. It looks…
  • Yeah as I suspected my prostate tests can put "good" too. Turns out the ultrasensitive PSA just gives one more decimal point to the answer. My prostate Doc is nicest guy ever and genuinely likes to talk to his patients and individualize their treatment plans. He also bikes to work and also is certified as a Strength and…
  • Good luck with the Chiropractor Steve, pesky shoulder and all. We are finally getting a little spritz of a rain shower. Not expecting much of a total but will take anything we can get. Not much with a high of about 71degrees. Bumping up over the week-end back into the 90s and maybe one day in upper 90s. A bit surprised (as…
  • Back in the day I did all my own photography and printing in high school. I had access to the ends of old movie rolls. something like the last 15 to 25 feet sort of thing. 5 to 5.5 feet equals a 36 exposure roll. I think I squeezed up to maybe close to 40 exposures out of my hand rolled cassettes. We had a lot of Double X…
  • Great picture Steve. Luv goldfinches. Have fun in Seaside Dave. The kiddos should luv it! Off to watch and maybe play a bit of pickleball without having too much of a dilly time swingin away. See my blood cancer oncologist tomorrow to see how that's going and my prostate guy on tuesday.
  • Oh Steve so glad ya made something Connie liked. Glad ya had a nice hike in wildflower bedecked forest and streams Mike. Have fun on the Oregon Coast Dave. We had a fun day at The Great Oregon Steam-up near Salem Oregon (Brooks/Kaiser area). Lots of antique steam powered tractors, old military jeeps and much more. Watched…
  • Yeah I still track activity on a bike journal site and sometimes calendar. Good luck with cookin' for Connie. I am off to "THE GREAT OREGON STEAM-UP" near Salem Oregon. 14 heritage museums from model railroads to…. Sawmill demos antique steam powered farm tractors, 100s of different steam powered units, logging demos,…
  • Indeed Lee have fun w DGS B-day. Sounds like some good job interviews by you too. Gosh hoping for you to enjoy beach walks again soon Bill. Yeah I had a co-worker that I had occasional tiffs with that would get on all our nerves. With a bit too much response on my part she would be all peaches and cream again for several…
  • I do feel blessed by my prostate treatment situation with my dear Doc trained at Duke. Every case is different for sure. Honestly many Docs told me that it was "standard protocol" to do the hormone therapy. I tried getting a second opinion but Docs are reluctant to say anything that different with a second opinion. I have…
  • Very glad indeed that Joanne is healing nicely and your shoulder is doing better too Sam. Nice that ya got hearing aids Lee. I mostly love mine and they really don't show. Good luck Lee with the vet hospital positions. Yikes Mike nice hike but 101deg is too warm for my blood. Wow Dave beautiful view indeed!!! winds are a…
  • Rainier N.P. is a great place. Have fun Dave. I got some free yellow plums from a nice lady near a wetland trail. DW made a wonderful Yellow Plum Crumble from it and cut into bars. YUM Yum Bill strip steaks sound great. Great hearing aids are worth the effort for me. Cheers
  • Yeah our grandson is on vacation in cool to moderate Oregon from Dubai (teaches there in an "International School")where it is just plain hot for sure. Good point Dave when we use the "the" it would be for "The Banfield" our local freeway otherwise just 26 or Hwy 26. Good luck with Sassy and her wellness check. We look to…
  • Yeah it hit 51 deg in our part of PDX area and we closed up early. Oooh I like Lees analogy of batting .300 when cooking new stuff for you spouse Steve. good luck. Oooh I'd kill for great fish and chips meself!! Off to WW meeting a la zoom
  • Oh my Steve a tough one for sure with the diet thing for Connie! I wish the best for you. So DAVE have you done the Bailey Range Traverse?// or portions thereof. My son is planning on doing it in August. Nice weather here just now.
  • Yeah it was 60sto70deg or so on the coast for a week for us and returned on a 97deg day to PDX area arriving in 92 deg. It is hard to get use to up and down temps for sure. 90deg here on Wed, 86deg yesterday but getting use to the upper 80s and 90deg on occasion. Not humid though. Off to water for a friend today. Cheers
  • Glad Joanne is doing better. Wow Steve that is just great about the transmission being a simple seal. Beautiful photo Mike!! Always fun to see the bald eagles soaring above. We have also had a golden eagle in our area recently. Today back in upper 80s from yesterday's 90deg. Stay cool all!
  • Should reach 90deg here today in PDX but only one day at 90deg dropping into the mid to upper 80s. Yeah Mike I don't want to mess with any bears for sure. Nice that you are getting things worked out with dietician Steve. I was being too @n@l about bringing food to a diabetic friend of ours who has figured it all out and…
  • I can't even imagine a heat index of 115degrees right now. We did break 116deg a few years ago shattering all the all time records for PDX but I was at the coast that day. Glad ya had a nice quiet walk to the labyrinth/prayer garden Bill. I miss the Oregon Coast already and enjoyed our week there. I wish I had more energy…
  • Been kinda tired and busy lately but ok. Hop Mike can keep his BP under better control whilst stressed. Sometimes mine is up a bit when I see my oncologist. Yikes Steve black Snake and all could make me jump a bit too. good luck w the shoulder. Ouch Dave yeah gotta watch the recoil. I remember my friend wanting to shoot by…
  • Good luck with the stress test Mike. I suspect a couple of mini-Reese's from yesterday wont make a difference. So sorry about your EX and hoping for the best for her too. I can't imagine 7 inches in 12 hours. Yikes Steve!! Definitely cooler today than yesterday. It "only" hit 96 degrees instead of a possible 100deg but…
  • Wow Dave that's great. My DS is getting ready to do the iconic Bailey Range traverse in the Olympic Mountains. sounds like quite the trek to me!! Yup I mowed the big lawn yesterday and will do the smaller piece before it hits 90deg today and close to 100 degrees tomorrow. Good to hear Joanne is doing better. An ordeal for…
  • We just got back from the Oregon coast where it was bumped up to 70-72 deg before we left our coastal haven in Manzanita (about 145 miles north of Bill). Glad to see your weight loss Bill. You lost and I gained whilst at the coast. Yup Dave it was 97degrees plus at our house yesterday and still 93 degrees when we got home.…
  • Off to Manzanita on the Oregon Coast (about 145miles by car North of Florence where Bill is) should be nice "coastal weather" w highs in the 60s mostly and seems to be a dry week. Gosh Steve you have "so much on your plate" right now and the dishes too!!! Cheers all.
  • Oh Mike so sorry to hear about DSIL's father and his bout with blood cancer and treatment. So sorry about your PTSD and anxiety with fireworks. Steve On my DW's morning walk there were lots of fireworks residues. I think pretty much all illegal. We went to a minor league baseball game nearby and had a nice firework show…
  • Gosh I luv Bernese Mt Dogs Very nice indeed. In this wacky weather year my neighbor gave me a Siletz tomato plant which I planted in a very large pot with a red wall-o-water type thing. Yesterday I harvested a 12.6 OZ tomato, my first of the year. I figured it was over a 1/2 lb and not a whole pound so I guessed right.…
  • Gotta luv Sassy being…well Sassy with her spiky ball. We use to time how fast our cat would shred an object stuffed with catnip at x-mas time. Probably upper 80s here today. 94degrees+ yesterday in PDX Nice early ride today. Stay comfy all>
  • Probably 94deg near PDX today and no heat advisory. We hit 90degrees yesterday but not bad. Yup 2 inches causes a lot of sorta major flooding around here on smaller creeks and roadways. Not much drainage in our mostly clay soil. Hope everyone is doing better. Ts and Ps for Sam and Joanne.
  • Me too. Very Glad Joanne is home again. Yeah Bill isn't it amazing how yard guys want to make big projects out of everything and charge and arm and a leg for the privilege. Got to see our weary GS back from Dubai at least for a summer break. Also my niece from Chicago showed up for a visit too. Nice afternoon/early…
  • Gosh I continue to send good Ts and Ps for Joanne and her issues. Sorry she is back in hospital being cared for. Yeah Lee My CV sent to Oregon Health Sciences University was several pages for sure and included list of publications as well as a copy of my Masters Thesis for at least one of the jobs. In some ways it is…
  • Uh…CV is a CURRICULUM VITAE (CV). It is usually a MUCH longer version of a "resume". Many professions especially in research and academia require a "CV". Lee has lots of life experience to include in his I am sure!! I would benefit from less salt but usually don't have much in my cooking. I did OD on Salted Pretzel Pieces…
