  • It isn't typical to have AC in the UK, especially rare in the home (we rarely have the high extremes other countries get, although the way you hear some people complain about the heat you wouldn't believe it) and we still get obese - more so in the last few decades.
  • There are more factors to consider than just age. Height, weight, gender and activity level are all to be considered as well as how old you are.
  • yes. and consistently using it has allowed me to stay there
  • calorie deficit is enough. When I started to lose weight it was following a big gain after being hospitalized with a back injury. The majority of my loss has been done with minimal activity in the first year due to that injury.
  • You have lost over 2 1/4 pounds per week on average. Good work! The inches will catch up.
  • And what would you say to a cup of tea Father?
  • I actually like almond alternatives, so lucky me, yay! But (and I don't know if this would work) could you water down your usual cream, still enjoy your coffee for a fraction of the calories?
  • very likely - it will depend on what potato varieties are normally grown and sold there. Here in the UK we get new potatoes much smaller than that one, several served on the plate. We also get massive ones sold as Baking Potatoes which are cooked for quite a long time and served in their skin. Some of the ones I've had…
  • Are you measuring your inches as well as your weight? If you have lost inches from waist / bust / thighs etc. then you are getting something right. As asked above, how is your body fat being measured?
  • also, there are hundreds of varieties of potato, which vary in size, texture, and colour. Depending on what you want to make can determine the best potato for the job. The one pictured looks like it needs a friend on your plate, too lonely! :D
  • that's one reason I don't use entries for "1 small" or "1 medium" anything. I find a reliable entry for 100g of the food in question, weight the item, and log it precisely. I mean, what is a "small" anything? It's all relative.
  • No you aren't. You're here, you've posted, that's a positive step. If you can't do it for you right now can you do it for someone or something else? I bet you go all out for people dear to you but find it easier to neglect your needs. Even your screen name is postive, smileytracy1965. Now, the next small step :)
  • so, choose the 100g option and change the serving to 0.5 I find the 100g option is easiest, because decimal system ;)
  • This is because you are an Aussie, and like us Brits know how to swear properly... :p
  • so, as an example, if you are eating chicken breast find an entry for 100g chicken breast meat. Then weight the chicken, lets say 125g. Alter the serving to 1.25
  • There are lots of things you can eat raw instead of reaching for the junk when you've had a long day.
  • eggs are my go-to breakfast, what I have with them varies though. But I'm not "full" until lunch. I am ready to eat it. If I felt full at lunch then should I be eating? :D
  • Yes, all of that ^^ Once you know what you are doing you can find where the problems lie. And by weighing / measuring what glovepuppet is saying it use the food scale for all solids, and a measuring jug for all liquids. Cups and spoons just aren't accurate enough. You may be very surprised what you are actually consuming…
  • You've already figured out he doesn't know what he's talking about and his advice is a waste of oxygen. I'd guess it's not YOU he isn't interested in helping, I'd guess he's only doing this job until something better comes along. Maybe he was negging, and next time he'll ask you out... :D
  • if you visit London I would recommend Time Out magazine generally for things to do / see / eat. I'm fairly sure the web address is timeout.com - you might find some hidden gems.
  • This ^^ It's not for everyone, some folks obsess or get upset at the upward movements, but for me I hop on every morning, just to look. I don't note the number down (well, only once a month), I just observe. It has kept me maintaining in a 2kg range for the last year.
  • I just checked... MFP says 38 cal per teaspoon of bacon fat - so a tablespoon would be triple

  • Just put "bacon fat" into the MFP database. Although a weight would be more accurate than a tablespoon

  • you do well to ask... package amounts may vary. I found this https://fatsecret.co.uk/calories-nutrition/marks-spencer-count-on-us which seems useful. I would just weigh it on the plate, and if the amount differs significantly from the serving amount listed alter it accordingly. If it's not a significant difference just eat…
  • nothing wrong with a bit of bacon, if honestly logged and accounted for. I'll even admit to reserving the fat that comes out of it and cooking something else in it instead of using cooking oil. But when I do I also log the bacon fat (as well as the greens I just wilted down in it) Everything in moderation

  • all the yes to this! we are a similar height, and proportionally a few extra pounds of food can mean a lot at our size. Tighten up your accuracy when logging and you'll get there
  • I had never even come across jackfruit until I travelled India a couple of years back. I was lucky enough to see them on the tree. One place even sold them in packets like potato crisps (they were goooood). when you find it tinned it can be for savoury food, or sold in syrup for desserts. I made some up like you would…
  • You must have been typing this post as I was composing my last one. a hard truth may be that if you are developing more severe allergies you may just have to start cooking. I know it's neither easy nor convenient, but ... allergies. Sorry. My sister has a gluten intolerance that has frankly got worse with age, to the point…
  • Am I married to you? :D I assume you've already googled things like this... https://verywellhealth.com/when-should-i-worry-about-passing-too-much-gas-796838 It may not be an abnormal amount of gas, just more than you remember from previously. Good luck figuring it out, it can be embarrassing.
