Every single response above have been so insightful. I am five years into this journey. Set out with 125 pounds to lose. Lost 79 in the first 2 years and have stayed exactly the same since that time (yo-yo). My stagnation is directly related to my relationship with food as I come in and out of periods of binge eating. My…

When I started this journey 79 pounds ago (4 years now I have kept it off) I promised myself I would be at goal weight for my 53rd birthday. I am 55 and still 30 pounds to go. What am I waiting for? This quarantine has helped me to see how easily I could go backwards...not where I want to be so forward I go.

Im here and still trying! Stress eating was the name of the game the first three weeks of the quarantine but the last two have brought back my focus to a degree and I feel more energy around getting stronger again.

Worked out 6 of the 8 days I was on vacay in Hawaii. Limited my grown up juice intake and did a 12 mile hike which involved climbing down and back up a rock wall.....amaze balls.

Goal of 5 pounds by Christmas. Oddly, the holidays do not cause me food stress because my self talk is so strong during these coming weeks. "your body is waiting just on the other side of your next choice"

I normally go to the gym late at night due to my schedule/family responsibilities but I had the opportunity to get to the gym at 3 PM yesterday and it was a totally different "group"...in fact usually I am accustomed to being the only one there many nights...anyway, I came in the door and had the realization that the…

Great post! and I agree.....those habits re-emerge if we do not remain aware. Glad you changed course ! Another great reminder that the roads leading to health are well travelled by alot of us...lots of commonality.

@Northcascades great topic! And BTW, really appreciate all your cool photos...I am a Washingtonian as well. Anyways, when I brought exercise into my life, I had life. Like, deep, deep, abiding love for my life. I am still 40 pounds heavier than I hope to be some day but in the meantime....I can walk 20 miles just for the…

When I have the munchies at night I try very hard to think about why I really want to eat something...and nine out of ten times it is because I am avoiding doing something I dont want to....such as go to bed or swap laundry etc. Such a mind bend! It is very rarely about hunger. I use the water strategy or if it wont leave…

First, feeling despair is real and I am sorry you are feeling that....I get it. Another poster put a link up and that is a great place to start. When I first came here feeling despair, I just read and read and read and read. Just start. I lost 75 pounds and then the last two years I ve stalled out with over 40 yet to lose.…

Life giving journey you are placing yourself on! Be kind to yourself. Know it is going to take a long time but that is OKAY! Enjoy the gift you give yourself with every healthier choice you make. Baby steps lead directly to success...its just the scenic route! Have Fun discovering what you are capable of!!!!!

Same here! I loved being bald but I was only 34 then....My hair also came in curly but never did come back all the way.....I still have virtually bald spots eventho that has been nearly 20 years ago.

My weigh in this morning continues a trend I have been on for well over 1.5 years... not moving. My NSV is that my self talk is "we will get there girl...just keep doin what you are doin" No feelings of desperation because I KNOW I can do it. And forward I go....
-
I agree with ^^ above poster... it is hard at first to change your self talk but you can do it! Have fun with it....and remember as you look around the room...you are doing something alot of folks cant/wont do and that is very cool indeed!!!!!! Have fun with it! What a great act of self love!

75 pounds gone with another 40 to go or so but in the meantime.....I have paddle boarded in the ocean off Maui, I ran a 12k and was not last, I can dead lift 225# and I am learning to let go of the sorrow I have about waiting until I was 53 years old to do what it took to get my life back (weight off). Those are my top…
