My doctor was very pleased, said to keep up the good work and shall see me again in 6 months. I hope to lose another 25 pounds by then, and continue with my healthier eating and exercise.
Very good news! It will only get better! Be proud of
Very nice! I had my doctor's appointment on Wednesday and she was "blown away" by what she read and saw! Quoting the classic song "Ain't no stopping us now, we're in the groove!!"0 -

It took major effort to button, too tight to wear, so I didn't. This morning they are almost too loose! I also tried a pair of nicer slacks I still have, size 40...they fit too. I see a shopping trip in the not too distant future.
This NSV keeps getting better! I noticed after wearing the pictured jeans for a while that they were even looser than when I first tried them on for the shot. So today, I went to my local brick and mortar retailer. While there I decided I wasn't going to waste my time and raise my BP rummaging the shelves looking for what I wanted. I found a pair sized the same as the first pair I put on the other day, saw that they fit and looked ok. I put them back, came home with the info and ordered four pair from the marketplace with the same name as a South American river. Mood saved 🙂17 -
When I was cleaning out my closet earlier this fall, I was a bit sad that my toasty warm fleece lined jeans from last year were much too big (size 10). On Friday, I was at the mall and popped into the store to see if they had them again this winter. So excited that they did. I tried on a 6 and 4 and the 4 fit best! Relaxed-style, but, still, my first size 4 to fit for over 5 years! And only $24.99. Such a bargain to be warm.25

I fit into a deadstock vintage (circa 1970) dress marked size 10! Can’t believe it not only zipped but feels comfortable. It’s a mod era accordion pleated swing dress, and while the outer chiffon layer is loose and hangs from the shoulder, the lining is a fitted satin wiggle dress. This was advertised as having a waist up to 28”, mine is more like 29” but I took a chance and it fits! It’s bright green and will make a great Christmas party dress, if I get a photo with hair and makeup done I will post it. These vintage sizes are normally too teeny for a straight-waisted person like me, I’m so delighted.35

I fit comfortably now in my size 4s even sliding off hips to go to restroom without unzipping and fit comfortably in my size "0" slacks plus all my 6s need a belt to stay up. I think I was in junior high when I fit in 2s or my fit days in college over two decades ago. My biggest size I wore were 10s.15

I have prescription sports glasses for cycling/running. All week they've felt like they're slipping down my nose but I put it down to being somewhere warmer (and sweatier). This morning I worked it out and bent the arms in a bit (they're flexible) and they stayed where I wanted them - guess my face is a bit thinner!28

I rarely post because I always go up and down in weight and don’t stick with anything long 🙄. However, when I tell my kids I’m going to do something I stick with it. I started 10k training 14 weeks ago, could barely run 2 mins my first day, now I can run 6 miles or 60 mins straight! I’m not a fast runner, but I’ll take it . Now training for 13.1 😊45

So, this kind of involves the scale, but it's more of a discovery/process victory with scale confirmation.
Usually when I travel, I put on about 1#/day of water weight and get home rather miserable and without ankles after a long weekend away from home.
This past weekend, I was away from home, and took a 12 hour drive each way to get to my destination. I wore compression garments on my feet and legs (which I'd normally only wear for a workout) for the drive and got out to stretch frequently during the travel portions of my trip, and managed to come home with visible ankle bones after a trip wherein I would normally expect to gain 5# of water weight! My legs feel a lot better than usual the day after getting home as well!31 -
I worked a bake sale for 2 days this weekend with Girl Scouts. Friday I picked up baked goods and helped package them until 2 am. Saturday I worked the booth at the craft show from 7 am until 5 pm. I didn't eat 1 single dessert in 2 days!! So many homemade treats and goodies before me like a buffet of temptation and I just smiled and sold them and didn't even think about eating them, not even once.35

On Friday, I did not eat the extra dish that came with my sushi. Last night I felt full after eating 3/4 of my dinner, so I put the rest away.
Very unusual for me, since my first instinct is always to eat everything in front of me and then be in pain. Gives me hope that I may one day learn to eat intuitively and overcome the binge.36 -

Being *mindful* while eating is very difficult in our rushed lifestyles, and making this mental change is a BIG DEAL! Stay on top of these sensations and I really think you'll notice a lot of signals that can help you in the long term. That's really awesome!18 -
Two similar NSV recently:
1) Last Saturday we had a board game evening with friends: all sorts of snack foods on the table and delivery of American style pizzas.
I looked up the nutritional information for the pizza, prelogged the number of pieces I wanted to eat, had a modest lunch and no afternoon snacks, to leave me some calories for snacks as well.
I weighed the actual slices of pizza I ate, I weighed my snacks (separate bowl instead of taking from the shared bowls) and ended up eating less than I had prelogged, and yet feeling fulfilled (physically and mentally) after my pizza and snacks.
2) There was a special event at work today with a buffet, to which our department was invited after they realized there was too much food. While most people went for the desserts, I chose to complement my packed lunch with some roasted peppers and aubergines. Not necessarily fewer calories (aubergines are like sponges for cooking oil) but it seemed easier to log and healthier, and just tasty too.
Not to say I won't snack tonight, but it will be a calculated snack, not just simply because (free) food is available.
3,5 months of logging and I think I have exceeded my allotted calories a handful of times, and none of those days exceeded my maintenance calories (quite a narrow margin considering I have a goal of losing only 0.5lbs per week). I'm not quite sure where this discipline is coming from, but I'm not complaining! I think an important factor is that no foods are off-limits if I really want them, the portion I choose just needs to fit into my calorie limit, so I don't feel deprived.34 -

That eventually led to no exercise for 16 years and 100 lbs weight gain. Never thought I would enjoy exercise again, especially in my 50s!
Not weird. Same here at 55....I am becoming so encouraged by strengh! Great NSV!!

Not only can I cross my legs, but I can cross them and still have them be low enough to stick them under a table. So much more comfortable for me.28

I took two weeks off from working out because I was sick and then traveling for work. When i got back i was REALLY demotivated and just didn't feel like moving but i forced myself to do it and while I'm VERY sore today it felt so good to get up and run and move again!
Also, i had a very stressful weekend (hard financial talks with my mother in law, my 4 year old got attacked by another kid at a park) etc and I really really really wanted to eat my feelings, to the point where i made my husband drive to a mcdonalds but we turned around in the parking lot and I went home and ate a normal good lunch. That was a HUGE win for me because I am a major emotional eater.34 -
ElizabethKalmbach wrote: »I went to the gym for the first time since everything started going wrong. I walked there without my lift partner, because he moved to Detroit.
I did the very basic 5x5 program with the app telling me what to do and how long to rest.
I did all the reps and all the sets.
I didn't drop the bar. I didn't require rescue from a spotter. I did a bit of extra stuff. I walked 4 miles home without anything mortifying or scarey happening with my body. I'm definitely getting better, and Monday, I can increase my squat weight and find out if I still hate OHP. (I do. Forever. I will ALWAYS hate OHP.)
@ElizabethKalmbach Yay! I hope your health keeps improving!! I need to get my bum moving on exercise. You have inspired me now!
NSV... idk. I had a ton of them, but last week life took a nose dive like the Titanic. So I guess the best list of NSVs are:
* I had a great vacation and ate all the things and yet my clothing still fits. Despite my fears to the contrary.
* I broke my own personal boundaries of fear by cliff/waterfall jumping on my vacation
* I kayaked, wore a two-piece swimsuit in public, and not once did I really bother thinking about what I wore. I had fun.
* I didn't hate all of the pictures I took (one of them is super weird because I basically FRIED MYSELF in the sun the first day and so after cliff jumping into the waterfalls the suit had adjusted itself so that all the burn lines showed against my milk-pale skin. Not a good look on me -- or anyone, really).
* My smallest pair of pants still fits. (yay)
* I am managing despite the mental stress of the last week (I don't eat when I'm anxious/depressed/upset)
* 8 years ago, I wouldn't have been able to have the vacation I had because I wouldn't have been strong enough to: hike, kayak, jump, slide, swim, run, and play. So I am grateful for a healthy body that I've strengthened over the years into a vessel that will let me live the life I want to live. All weight loss / size loss / etc aside, I have made it so that I can live the life I want (within the health parameters set out for me by fate's whimsical desire to give me hurdles I don't need).
Here's to a winning week this week, even if it's a small win!28 -
I normally go to the gym late at night due to my schedule/family responsibilities but I had the opportunity to get to the gym at 3 PM yesterday and it was a totally different "group"...in fact usually I am accustomed to being the only one there many nights...anyway, I came in the door and had the realization that the weight room was pretty busy and I would have to be the only girl in there AND I could have been everyone's momma in there.... the NSV was I LOVED that I am me and I absolutely are motivated by this new inner voice that tells the world: Here I am deal with it.29

I looked in the mirror this morning and felt taller. Like tall, and slim. I've always felt short and stout.23

I decided to get Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I ordered the #1, which is the original chicken sandwich and fries, and I got a small chocolate milk shake to go with it.
The sandwich comes plain with pickles, so no sauces or cheese. I figured I'd be somewhere in the 800 calories ball park. Well....I was very wrong.
I went to put it into MFP, and it totals 1,390 calories. I had NO idea it would be that much. But, instead of freaking out, I finished logging and told myself to have a light dinner and make sure I exercise tonight.
A year ago I would already be telling myself I have to stop eating for three days, among other things. Baby steps really do add up to leaps33 -
@sammidelvecchio is that really right? Or does that include the french fries and/or soft drink that comes with the meal?0
-
@ellie117 I'm betting it was the small chocolate milkshake instead of the soft drink that made calories unexpectedly high. I have "milkshakes for dinner" when my appetite tanks because it's the easiest way for me to put down 800 calories in one go...

@ellie117
@ElizabethKalmbach
It's right, and I double checked their web site too.
The sandwich - 440 cals
The fries - 400 cals
The shake - 550 cals7 -

Yeah, some of the big gloopy ones from Steak'n'Shake are over 800 calories for the milkshake alone. Sadness!2 -

Gotcha. I misread your post and thought the sandwich alone was 1400 calories and I audibly gasped. This breakdown makes much more sense.

Today, I cycled 16 miles.
It took a while as I'm still getting used to my bike, which isn't set up how my old one was (and tyre type does make a difference; the only reason I haven't put "slicks" on is that we're in the middle of autumn and winter is not that far off - slicks and ice just don't mix well). I was a little disappointed by the time it took but I'm not where I was a while ago either. So I gave myself a break over that issue.
However, I am ahead of my "schedule" by four days; I had aimed to be able to cycle 15 miles by the end of this week.
And I think that I could have gone further today as I was not in any discomfort, nor was I tired. The only reason I returned home was that it was getting dark and that was making me a little anxious, even though I had lights on my bike and the other road users were being reasonable (bar one numpty who decided that two inches between my handlebars and his car was plenty of room).
Maybe tomorrow I'll go a little further than today. . .26 -
Before I started a group strength training program, I was pretty weak in my arms and a lot stronger in my legs, but this week the trainer added some weight to the lifts I was doing and I was a little nervous I wouldn't be able to do it, but I did! I felt so strong and powerful afterwards, just seeing the improvements in how much weight I can handle is such a motivating feeling.24

Well, I didn't go any further today as dusk beat me into submission again BUT I did the same route as yesterday and shaved five minutes off my time.
Still very slow but it's a definite win.
My plan for tomorrow, weather permitting, is to try to cycle twenty miles. And to leave earlier!21 -
I met my mother for lunch today in a local cafe (as a side, she does not need to lose weight at all). She had the soup and I had a big delicious omelette. After, I ordered me a coffee and asked if she wanted one too. She said she'd wait a few minutes, get a tea and we could share a something tasty. Well I was full, so said if you want to order something, please do, but I'm not having anything thanks. She tried a few times persuading me, tried if you don't I won't, its not the same if I'm eating it on my own
Same person on another day will say to me, yeah, you don't have great self control.29 -
At the start of the school year I had two pairs of pants that fit. Now I have five... and I didn't go clothes shopping.33

I got into a uniform that work provides sometimes for certain events. I have never been able to get it buttoned up around my stomach before so have always been put in the back room to work where the clients don’t interact with me. It was off site today so none of the usual people saw me fitting the uniform and someone else got the back room (but randomly selected). Today there is a uniform again but people that know me will be there. I am secretly hoping they will notice I fit it now 😃37
