Don’t wait! So many benefits of strength training! I gained a lot of strength while in deficit and losing weight. Make sure you get enough protein and sleep. Well done on your loss!

If you can afford the calories, almond butter is what I use

I look at it as if I have a disability. My internal thermostat for food is wonky, and as a result I need to track/limit my calories. It won’t end, it is my health maintenance for life. Your rant is excellent. Drives me nuts also to see all the fads, tricks, crazy diets, and the mentality of temporariness.

Just remember, you deserve to be proud of what you have accomplished. But tiptoeing around fragile egos is part of getting along in relationships. Be proud. I think you’re doing great.

First rule of diet club: Do not talk about diet club! People are jealous, insecure, and ashamed of their choices. Talking about diet, weight, and exercise is always rough territory. I think too that diet success makes everyone a little bit pompous. I got that way the first time I got thin, and saw friends do it too when…

Vegan here. Be sure to find an acceptable source of B12, Omega3, Omega6, D, and Calcium. B12 can be a challenge, with nutritional yeast being the best in my opinion. I use Hemp hearts for the Omegas, vegan supplements for the others. buying a book on plant based nutrition is a great way to get started safely. I need to…

I took 900mg gabapentin for a year for severe restless leg syndrome. It made me super hungry but probably saved my life so it was worth the aggravation!

Gluten free (medical) and vegan (ethical) here. I do use soybeans and soy products a lot, but I agree with the above post that beans and legumes can fit in my diet if I avoid starches like rice/potatoes. I carry a lot of muscle for a gal (former bodybuilder, now fitness lifter) and try to keep my macros above 20%…

I can relate a little.....I think for me I can get in a state where I am afraid of hunger. Hunger must be avoided at all costs. Hunger is an emergency. This can lead me to overeating and obsessing. Feeling hunger without fear and trying to relax is what helps me.

Yep.

I am in NH also. I swim at a gym, but that can be expensive. There is a financial aid program there though. Sorry about your diagnosis/restrictions/pain. That is a bummer.

How? Well I work out at home using dumbbells and bodyweight. I started with dumbbell bench presses, and when I ran out of weights at 80 lbs I switched to doing bodyweight pushups in a stairwell. Feet on the floor, hands on the fourth step. Then I worked my way down to the floor a step at a time. I also did a ton of planks.…

A lot of times it turns out to be piriformis syndrome, resolved by specific stretches. I would recommend seeing a doc for it, but I need to first see one myself for long term lower back pain (think it is SI joint) Anyway, good luck. Back pain sucks.

Oh yeah I also volunteer every week at a raptor rehab center and "zoo" for un-releasable raptors.

There is a MFP Gamers group on this site. Maybe check in there and find friends. You are not alone. If it gets bad please seek professional help. It will get better.

I used to be addicted to running. I would run 14 miles every day without fail. Eventually I got severe ITB syndrome and would get grueling PT twice a week and kept running. After about 12 years my feet blew out. I got Morton's neuromas, and inflamed nerves to my big toes. I had faithfully worn orthotics but eventually bad…

I have had one for a few months and use it to set my calorie budget. Works great, losing weight right on track.

I went through this also and still struggle with PTSD. Therapy and meds help. There is an online support forum I like, HAVOCA.org
