I think you should eat however you want but I also think that the all or nothing thinking is probably holding you back far more than eating sugar. If you see not eating sugar as a magical process that will transform your life (and your body), not only will it be harder to start losing weight (because a no sugar diet is…

I'll be interested to see what replies you get because I find this difficult myself and could certainly use some hints! Personally, I do what exercise I can first thing when I'm generally feeling at my best. I try to remember that the exercise I do makes me feel better in general. I have the ingredients for quick easy…

I'd go to a doctor. That doesn't sound normal to me. It could be a deficiency in vitamin D (quite likely) or B12 (less likely) or something else entirely but your doctor is really the best one to work it out.
-
Despite being very pale and living in a sunny part of the world, I don't manage to get enough vitamin D so I take that and I get dangerously low levels of vitamin B12 so I take that one as well. Otherwise I don't bother.

I agree, I grew up with pretty strong ideas on when it was appropriate to eat and what those meals should look like. I didn't really think about food or what I was eating but I never had a problem with my weight until an illness upset the balance. I don't think there's anything wrong with habit or cultural based ways of…

I have a chronic illness, which makes a lot of exercise difficult (I can't manage the gym or hiking or anything like that for example). I do however walk. I do one 30-40 minute walk almost every morning and if feel well enough go again in the evening. That's made a huge difference to my weight loss and to how much I can…

I don't get whooshes either. I think it's just a slight difference in something about our bodies. I don't get water weight fluctuations either. If there's a difference on the scale I've got to work at taking it off again or eat more (not that that happens!)
-
Me too. It's like people are deliberately running around being poor and fat so that everyone else can look down on them and feel superior. Because nobody here ever had a weight problem or anything.

Google says you might get stomach cramps and/or diarrhoea. I don't think you'll die. If you're worried though, call your doctor or a medical hotline.
-
I'd just say "even if that were true, I'm not going to bed until 1pm so I don't think it's a problem!" Other than that, all you can really do is give yourself permission to go about your business just the way you please. It's really got nothing to do with anyone else what or how you eat.

I count potatoes (and other starchy vegetables like corn, peas, parsnips etc) as vegetables. For a start, they are botanically vegetables. Secondly, their nutrients are more similar to other vegetables than to other starchy things like bread. Thirdly, I try to eat plenty of vegetables in a wide range of colours (starchy…

I don't eat quick oats, I use rolled oats in the microwave. It doesn't take much longer and I prefer the taste. I always cook it in milk. After it's cooked I put in a couple of shakes of nutmeg. Sometimes, while it's cooking I also put in a handful of frozen mixed berries.

The title is click-baity but she's basically saying she eats and drinks moderately (with treats when desired) and doesn't follow overly restrictive diets (the grapefruit diet). Makes a lot of sense to me.

I stay very red for an hour or so but not quite that long. When it's in my cheeks it's because I have Rosacea. Do you find that you have a flush from other things (stress, alcohol etc)? It took me years to get diagnosed because mine's not very bad, I just have a weirdly flushed face sometimes! (It took a run of…

For me the portion sizes on the label are a curiosity and little else (I'm often interested to know whether I eat more or less than what they think the portion size is). However, when I'm actually going to eat it I go by how much I want and can fit into my calories. Then I get the scale out.

It happened to me. (I was on medication that has nasty side effects.) About three months later a third of my hair fell out. I don't recommend it. A day or two here or there won't hurt you though.

I lose less in summer. (Autumn, Winter and Spring all seem to be better.) I get more exercise because it's not so crazy hot. In summer I have to get up earlier to exercise before it gets too hot and that makes me hungrier as well which is a pain.

Not actually true. During the late 19th/early 20th century the fashion for men was to be overweight. Regency gentlemen padded their thighs if they didn't already look muscled enough. During the Middle Ages it was thought more manly to be large and well muscled (a sword fighter's build) but during the Renaissance it was…

I gained 20 kg during my pregnancy. Doctor's can't stop pregnant women from gaining weight anymore than they can stop the general population from doing so. Both my mother and I gained a lot of weight during our pregnancies (mine was twenty years ago and hers were in the seventies so it's certainly not a new thing.) I…

A few and a couple are both just a small number of things of an indeterminate number. Several is more than two but is likewise a small number. https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/few https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/couple https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/several

Skinny people are just that, people. They're not all the same. I was skinny without effort. If I liked the biscuits, I'd have eaten the plateful. I often ate emotionally, I sometimes ate compulsively. I had terrible hunger cues (which actually is one thing that kept me thin because it meant that I didn't realise I should…

Steamed fresh vegetables are always my go to (because I love them) but a salad would be delicious too. Stir fried vegetables might be nice as well.

I don't really like the special Christmas treats so this time of year isn't more difficult for me. I do, however have a sweet tooth and would like to have dessert every day of the week all year round! I just try to do as you're doing now and keep it in moderation. It is hard sometimes though!

I get full and stop eating. It's not a cure-all. It depends on what you're eating. If you're eating calorie dense food you can still end up in surplus.

Unfortunately, I think that's the problem with this vaccine. (Or rather, the way it's thought of.) It's all bound up with politics and morality (which includes sex and abortion and all sorts of things like that) instead of being about preventing cancer. (And that's before you get to the anti-vaccine mob). I mean, I think…

100 years ago mothers were trying to abort using turpentine or herbs like pennyroyal. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it just gave them liver or kidney damage (or both). Or they went to abortionists. Which, given abortion was illegal was unregulated and dangerous. I'd rather safe, legal abortions because desperate people do…

Exactly. I read an article recently about an unmarried mothers and childrens' home in Ireland. Pregnant girls and women were sent there until they gave birth. The conditions were horrible and a lot of the children died. I imagine a lot of the girls went back to their lives rather traumatised and never told anyone what had…

Really? Because I certainly don't want my first boyfriend back! Anyway, ideals are stupid things to base health risks on. Especially when not everyone agrees on them. If we have a vaccine that works, I'd rather use that than hope that everyone stops having sex (especially since, historically speaking, people have always…
-
Even when the ideal was sex with one person until you died it didn't often happen. I really don't think you've got a chance of getting anyone to follow that kind of behaviour now. And if you don't? HPV is so common, you're pretty much guaranteed to get it.

I would want to find out why before I cut a whole food group from my diet. Can you call and find out? I have anxiety and don't eat much dairy (because I dislike most forms of it) but when I do have it my symptoms don't get worse or anything. There could be a good reason but I'd be worried that the doctor was on the…
