  • Nope. For me it tastes bad and smells worse so I drink other things.
  • I can maintain my weight by intuitive eating just fine but I can't lose weight by intuitive eating. Generally I maintain easily and without thought. I can't lose weight that way though. Losing weight requires some discomfort and rearrangement of my eating patterns or exercise patterns. I can't do that without thought, I…
  • Everybody's different. Maybe you need the evening snack (I thought I was one of those but I think it was habit more than anything else because I don't eat one anymore (due to reflux) and after a while I didn't miss it. Maybe you need to up one of your macros (fat, fibre or protein seem to be the most common ones…
  • I started out using a food scale but stopped after a month or two. I'm pretty good at estimating portion sizes and I tend to eat similar things a lot so it works out for me.
  • I'm not really worried about attracting others these days but sure I'm interested in feeling better about myself. I hit the recommended weight range a while ago. I'm still trying to lose but it's vanity weight now really. I think I'll look better if I lose another five kilos so that's what I'm aiming for.
  • I have IBS but I have both diarrhoea and constipation and everybody's experience is different. However, for me, I take a fibre supplement everyday which seems to help, I've also found that too much fat exacerbates my diarrhoea days. Stress is a big trigger for me but I haven't found anything to help with that.
  • Not usually. Sometimes people have commented on the amount of salt I eat (which is annoying because in daily life I don't actually eat that much I just really like it on chips and things like that). In any case, I have low blood pressure so some salt isn't going to do me any harm!
  • I'm only using MFP for calorie counting. In the past when I've wanted to lose weight I've just eaten a bit less/exercised a bit more. This time I was having more trouble and heard about MFP through someone on the internet. I'm really glad I did as it's made life a lot easier. I didn't have an "aha" moment as such. I'd put…
  • It's great that you found something that worked for you. However, when so many people on this site are struggling with their weight I wouldn't necessarily call a BMI of 22 "fat". Nor do I think it healthy to do so.
  • If your doctor's not worried about it and you don't have symptoms I wouldn't worry about it. Mine's on the low side as well and I've never had a problem. I think it's just normal for some people.
  • It depends a lot on how long it's going on for. If it's just a couple of days I wouldn't worry, just make sure to get plenty of fluids. However, I was unwell for over a month and didn't want to eat much during that time. Mostly I tried to make sure I was eating nutrient rich food and also higher calorie food when I did…
  • Well, no. A deficit is all you need to lose weight. As long as the workout program puts you into a deficit then you'll lose weight. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for many people because they start eating more unconsciously. But that doesn't mean it can't work.
  • I used to have breakthrough bleeding whilst on the pill. Was your obgyn worried about it at all? If she wasn't then I wouldn't worry either, especially since so far it's a one off occurrence.
  • Quick and easy - porridge cooked with milk and an egg in it.
  • If you average it out at the end of the week and come out at your goal calories (or an approximation of them) then you're fine. In fact, many people plan to eat that way so that they can eat more on specific days. It's only if you're continually under eating then it becomes a problem.
  • I weigh after I've been to the toilet but I'm not particularly regular and it doesn't seem to make a difference. (I'm one of those who's weighed before and after out of curiosity and it's made no difference to the scale.) In any case, weight loss is a long term project so a couple of grams here and there because of waste,…
  • I rarely fluctuate but when I do I can't really pinpoint a reason. It always seems to take ages to come off when it's a spike upward so I'm always left unsure whether I've managed to put on fat or water weight. In the end it doesn't really matter as long as I end up in the right place.
  • If you truly believe this I think it's worth seeing a doctor to find out for sure. Our beliefs about ourselves are often the things that hold us back the most. And really, unless a medical professional confirms your mother's suspicions how can you really know? People are notorious for not realising how much they're eating…
  • Usually I'm not one to fluctuate much but once I just gained two kilos overnight. I actually went out and bought a new scale I was so shocked. Unfortunately the new one said the same thing. I was eating at a .5kg deficit at the time and it took four weeks to come off. I'm really not sure how I gained it.
  • According to the Heart Foundation of Australia it's better to weigh a bit more when you're older but they're talking about over seventy. I think (but I could be completely off base) it's because sometimes older people drop weight because of illness or because of difficulty eating for one reason or another and it's not a…
  • I'm surprised it allowed you to close your day with that few calories!
  • I had trouble losing weight on the shot despite the fact that I didn't have an increase in appetite and as far as I could tell was doing everything the same. However, I wasn't counting calories so I can't be sure that I wasn't messing up the diet that worked just fine before and after the shot somehow.
  • Tomatoes. I eat them most days but rarely eat other fruit so that's an easy one!
  • It's always worth asking questions and getting a second opinion if you're worried. I was seeing a specialist at one point and felt he wasn't being careful enough about the potential side-effects of some of the medications he was giving me. I kept telling myself that he was the doctor and must know what he was doing. In the…
  • When I got my fitbit I synced it with MFP but I was getting more calories than I used to when I was logging my walking manually and since that had seemed pretty accurate I didn't think this was. In the end I unsynced it. I love it because it helps keep me accountable for physical activity but it wasn't helpful when it came…
  • The last I heard was that studies showed that vitamins didn't increase the longevity or health of people studied except in those with actual deficiencies (who are taking specific vitamins in larger doses such as iron, B12, folate etc rather than than a multivitamin.) So personally, I wouldn't bother, I especially wouldn't…
  • Could also be not enough fibre. You don't say how many vegetables you're eating but if you've cut out grains as well as other types of vegetables other than just the "green vegetables" your eating now you might be getting less fibre than you were. Other than that, I'd keep an eye on your fat intake. Too much can cause…
  • Depends on the quantities. My daughter eats a can of baked beans for dinner quite regularly. I'd add a slice of toast or something myself but she's an adult and can eat like alien's stole her taste buds if she wishes.
  • Yep. I have fatigue issues due to illness and that definitely doesn't help my weight. (It always seems so reasonable to go for the sugar to perk myself up!) I have also read that insomniacs tend to be heavier than people who sleep well.
  • I don't do intermittent fasting but I don't eat as many meals as some. (I eat a largish brunch and a largish dinner and that works for me.) It's not disordered. There's no reason that I should eat three meals plus snacks a day. As long as I'm not having disordered thoughts or restricting my eating too much it's really not…
