I expected that, but in my defense I think just because I don't have kids doesn't mean I don't have a busy life. My life is actually busier than the average person. And from an outside perspective, which is skewed I'll admit, it seems like parents use their kids a lot as an excuse when there are plenty of healthy and fit…

I might get hate because I'm not a mom and I'm single. However, I think if we all gave it some thought we all have busy lives and circumstances we could use that as an excuse to not do things we don't want to do. I work in extremely stressful job and I work for 10 hour days with an average of 6 to 8 hours of overtime a…

Basically what Penelope Garcia does. I am behind the scenes so a lot of work and no glory because I don't have a badge!

Criminal intelligence analyst...so I suppose I could end up stalking the serial killers who stalk other people ;)
-
I am a criminal intelligence analyst. It is interesting but is probably a lot less interesting than it sounds...people watch too many cop shows ;)

I do the same thing! I'll see someone at the gym and I think what they're doing looks really fun or really cool and it probably comes off judgmentally because I unfortunately sometimes have a resting [expletive] face at the gym!

You're totally right I'm sure I got a little defensive. But I can't tell you how frustrating it is to go into online forums asking for help and getting the response that I am unhealthy and I need to see a doctor because of my BMI. In actuality A lot of doctors and trainers don't use BMI because it only takes height and…

Well with all do respect people are different and you don't know me in person and have never seen me before so I think that's a little unfair. Plus there's a big difference between people who are naturally thin, and people who are not naturally thin that are thin. That's why I explain myself because I feel like I get…

What is the name of the powder? And I do love ice cream so that's definitely something I could do! I would actually say ice cream is my vice LOL

And I just read the hard gainer post which answered a lot of my questions!

Ha ha I should've been more specific....I was just saying in general, not particularly just to the OP.

Not sure it has anything with weight loss. However for overall physical fitness I would say rest days are extremely important, as far as weight training is concerned. Your muscles need a chance to recover because if you don't you are less likely to progress as quickly as you would otherwise if that makes sense. A lot of…

I'm anemic so I have to take iron. If you don't have a major iron deficiency probably just taking a multivitamin would suffice. If you do have to take iron by itself I would suggest the slow release pills...they will save you from a giant stomachache!

Well I'm definitely not going to go back and read three pages of discussion, who has time for that? I think a main point of this this discussion seems to have turned into is it OK for health teachers to teach nutrition and into the topic of childhood obesity. Although now the conversation seems to have turned into a debate…

Well you're in a confined space with other people so of course they're going to look at other people and notice them. But from someone who's been going to gyms for a very, very long time now, I don't think anyone is judging anyone in a negative way most of the time. When I see people at the gym I mostly think, good for you…

I have hypothyroidism as well. i'm 26 and I got diagnosed when I was 14. I guess I'm on the less common end of people with low thyroid because I'm actually very thin and I have a very high metabolism. However, aside from way, I can totally relate to a lot of the other side effects and issues that come with hypothyroidism.…

Wrap it. I have to wrap my left wrist during heavy lifting workouts since it's slightly weaker than my right. Since I started doing that I quit having pain in it.

But to add a flip side to my own opinion, I also think taxing unhealthier "junk" foods would unfairly target the lower income. I just wanted to clarify that I recognize that.
-
I think to an extent that is a good point. I think people who are overweight and people who are of healthy weight just view food in a completely different way.

I wrote this on a similar topic and I stand by it: I am a thin person, but I can see the positive side of the movement. I don't think anyone should spend their life miserable and hating themselves no matter what they look like or what weight they are. So in a way I feel like this movement gives people a support network and…

Try to be patient. Everyone has to start somewhere and results can take months to see...and then only if you've been really consistent. Just take it one day at a time and you'll begin to see progress eventually.

Physical education, health education, and sexual education all need a giant overhaul in this country, that's for sure....

Since everyone seems curious...I grew up in a relatively small town in Montana with older parents and a dad who owned a local grocery store and I lived in relatively the same environment (not with my parents but in the same area) until I graduated college...than I moved to a major city out of state. I've lived in this big…

I'm also here to gain! I am very thin and I have a high metabolism so it's very hard for me to gain weight and extremely easy for me to lose weight. MFP it's help me a lot with making sure I'm hitting my calorie/macro goals

I respect your opinion completely and I do get what you're saying. But there have been a small handful of replies that what they actually said, not the tone, was defensive. When some people debate they can't do so without getting defensive. I don't think I said I thought anyone was getting upset, because I think there's a…
