I always underestimate them and enter them manually. I think the assumption is that you are optimally 6'5" and 300 pounds and running at a 7.9 pace on a treadmill. Also, I'm 5'6 and about 205 lbs and I fully understand what you mean. I also underestimate the treadmill, elliptical and other exercises as well.

I'd be the pretentious jerk who brings his own acoustic guitar and sings Elliot Smith songs in the corner while disparaging the music that everyone else actually enjoys.

Oh I'm dating JabbaJill...I understand Jabba's Palace is pretty cool with a swinging band.

Looks like a cool guy who could also go a few rounds if needed...and have a beer afterwards.

Now give me five to figure out how to add you as a friend...pretty sad for a Business Systems Analyst I might add.

Hey fellow desk jockey. I'm in buddy. I need to lose more than the last 10, more like the last 30.

I can only speak for myself, but I have three daughters (11, 8 and 3) and while my Wife is a stay at home Mom, if my wife wanted to get in shape and go to the gym I would just suck it up and spend the time with my monsters. As it is I wish I could get more time in, and my wife is nice enough to give me a one night out a…

I'm in. Right now I weigh 216. I'd like to get down to 200 by Christmas, but I'll take anywhere 205 and lower. Motivated to go to the gym at work and do some cardio now.

Not lucky me

I'm in Sherri's boat. I can drink a ton of diet soda (Coke Zero specifically) and I also tend to binge eat. I can go all day without eating, but once I start to eat it takes a lot of will power to stop. And this goes even if I ate reasonably during the day. Any advice or help you need I'll be glad to contribute.

I have nothing to add of any value other than how much I love that Minor Threat album. Pretty sure if you liked punk/hardcore in the 80's you were obligated to own that tape.

Personally, I think a lot of it depends on how long you lean on the handles and how much you lean on the handles. If you're putting all your weight down on it then it will really negate your calories burned. I'm a short guy and I also feel that odd balance. I walk/run in intervals so I try mainly not to hold them during…

I do now: I nerded it up at work during a particularly dull meeting and made an Excel doc with starting weight, goals, weigh loss metrics and a fitness plan. I then used the MFP setup data and set up CICO standards to meet, then created a fitness plan and schedule. I'm trying to lose 1.5 to 2 pounds a week, so I need to…

I also had a 'rough' weekend as I had my middle daughters communion. However, I weighed myself this morning and I'm still on track with what I want to accomplish. Two pounds per week with 1500 calories a day, with the hope of being down a total of 20 pounds by July 4th. I'm going to be 45 but I do feel about 35 or so,…

Like they say in Stripes: Not gay, but willing to learn. But in all seriousness probably not. Maybe a bro hug or fist bump?

Is your middle girl hitting puberty? Weight gain is SUPER common around then, and it is also the easiest time to give them a complex, because so much change is going on with them that they can't control, food and excercise can often become something they OVER control.[/quote] God I hope not: she's only seven. My 10 year…

Then it has to be simply food, as I think it out. It also FEELS like she doesn't do a lot. A lot of it is that I can't figure why she got so chubby over the last year. Her dance classes are rather short, and when I've attended them they don't seem very active. (She does tap). The karate is admittedly a bit better. It's…

That's fair. I also come from an authoritarian background and a house. My father went through a mid-life crisis and got into incredible shape: however from age 11 to when I moved out there was basically only healthy food in the house, and never snacks of any kind. And I do have three daughters ages 10, 7 and soon to be 3…

I'm going to try this: thanks for the advice.

I do follow an exercise program. My wife not so much. And yes, my wife does the shopping and I probably need an intervention at this point. I tend to take them roller skating, ice skating and bike riding currently. Hobbies/activities they tend to like are theater (both take classes) and staring at a damn screen which I…

It's actually nice today, but usually winter where I'm at isn't the best time to go bike riding and outdoors. During spring/summer I do try to get them outside, but they don't seem to be big into sports in that way. The ten year old already feels she's "too old" for the park per se...

I guess the real question is what do you look like now? How far are you from your goal realistically? I mean, Chris Pratt did it in 6 months but he was also 18 years younger and had access to a personal trainer.

Like...always reminds me of the Lester Bangs quote "The Doors? Jim Morrison? He's a drunken buffoon posing a poet. Give me the Guess Who. Come on. They got the courage to be drunken buffoons, which makes them poetic!" Television (band not the medium  )
