  • @suzannesimmons3 that may be but it does the same thing as a diuretic does to your kidneys. And your kidneys are very important, you do not want to damage them.

  • I do log my tea, I do not count it toward water because some teas are diuretic thus they can dehydrate you.

  • Figure out how to eat right and track what you are eating. As you lose weight you will gain energy. At some point you will want to workout and do more. At least that is how it worked for me. I've lost 50 pounds so far 50-60 to go. I wish you well.
  • Look up Dr Bernstein he is a type 1 diabetic. He does low carb and in his books he talks about diet, insulins, exercise, all facets of living with diabetes even good places to inject yourself. He is also on YouTube.
  • I do a 3day fast once a month. It has certainly helped me. But everyone is different. There a books on fasting, some of them are free online if you are interested.
  • You should look at the keto/lchf forums. Also Dr Bernstein has several books on this type of diet. He started trying to control his own diabetes, so first hand knowledge in his books. My husband is on this diet for his diabetes, and I follow something similar (slightly higher carbs). So far I've lost 50 pounds. You are…
  • Avocado, cocoa powder and sweetener. Masher or blend together. Tastes like chocolate pudding, you will not taste the avocado.

  • My bottoms almost fell of in the pool yesterday when I was playing with my kids. If I hadn't grabbed them they would have.
  • What were your "bathroom habits" before you went on a diet? Everyone is different. I know you said you are on keto, how has your diet changed and how recently?
  • I will pray for her. The life you have while waiting really kind of sucks being close to death and knowing you have kids that want and need you around. I really feel for her.
  • Thank you for the suggestions. To clarify I see the dr very 3 months and get blood tests every 2 months. I have been dealing with kidney disease (polycystic kidney disease) since I was 11, I am now 42. I was not on bed rest or in the hospital (1 week for the transplant itself). I am the mother of four and did all the…
  • So you don't have dominant, that is very good. Hopefully you stay the only case in your family. If you are on BP meds now that could be why you are tired. I know you can lose the weight. I can't find the article but a few years back there was an article that talked about foods the reduce the formation and growth of cysts…
  • I have PKD. I am 2 years post kidney transplant, currently trying to lose 117 lbs, 80 of with is thanks to the prednisone they put me on after the transplant. I'm down 43 so far. My nephrologist is all for my weight loss and diet change. I follow a keto style way of eating. I was diagnosed when I was 11 years old. The…
  • I have CP (cerebral palsy, and didn't learn to walk until I was 3). I don't have it bad but my balance is shot. Just to give you back ground. I have never been on a two wheeled bike until my husband got me on a tandem bike. It was very odd experience, fun and unusual. If I had the balance I would have been able to learn…
  • I'm down 43+ pounds of the 117 pounds I want to lose. No one has noticed except my hubby and Dr. I can't see a difference in my progress pics. (might be a head thing saying hey you are still fat, I don't know) It is upsetting that no one sees the difference.
  • Hooters (I've only been to the one that used to be in my town) their wings come in traditional (lightly breaded, bone-in), naked, or boneless (heavier breading)
  • I sooo understand. Years ago I found out how un-supportive my extended family was (this is well before we started keto). My now 19 year old daughter was born severely allergic to milk products. We went over for thanksgiving and I found I could only eat the turkey and the pumpkin pie (I made the pie) Even the salad was…

  • I actually started my weight loss /healthy living journey with a 3 day fast. I taught me so much. In my body there were four pains that before I went on the fast I associated with hunger. But only one was actual hunger. Interesting thing about a fast by day 3 I felt wonderful, had energy and my mind was clear. I needed to…
  • @Christine_72 I find this very interesting. My oldest is 22 so presumably we were raising our children at the same time. My son's dr told me to nurse on demand and not introduce solids of any kind until 6 months old. Which meant I was sleep deprived at first. I was a member of La Leche League (which some believe are…
  • A pool work out class would probably help.
  • I am not an expert. I have updated twice manually since starting MFP. It has never asked me if I want to update nor has MFP done any updating automatically. I have lost 43 lbs (19.5 kg) so far. I was thinking about updating again it's been almost 20 lbs since I did it. It's a pain for me because I have to readjust my…
  • I has 80ish to still lose. I've lost 43 since May of this year. happy to have more friends if you'd like to add me.
  • We (myself and children) went keto to support my husband back in May. He was having trouble controlling his blood sugar after starting Keto he no longer does. I was the best decision I ever made. I'm down 43 pounds now and feel so much better. There is a group here…

  • In order for you to know the scale (any scale) is accurate it needs to be calibrated. Chances are neither yours or your doctor's scale have been calibrated recently. Jarring, moving and time slowly un-calibrate a scale. So to believe one is more accurate than another because one is in a drs office is wrong. Go with which…
  • @VintageFeline starchy carbs (sweet potato, winter squash, potatoes, brown rice, whole grains, and beans) what I assume you mean by what you said are different then refined carbs (white bread, white rice, and the"value added products") which is what I said. Without going off the refined products there is no way to know if…
  • @VintageFeline What happens when I eat refined carbs and animal sourced protein? In my observations Bloating and bad digestion. I can't say it would happen for everyone thus the disclaimer and belief statement.
  • @goodtroyes trust your brain/body you asked "is this to many carbs?" if you are asking you probably think it is. It certainly could be for you. There is no one here that is you other than yourself. We have not been through your life experiences. You will have to experiment and tweak things as you go to find out what works…
