You look great! Congrats on the 70!

great job! You look great!

bookworm here! I loved Oryx and Crake (and pretty much anything by Margaret Atwood). I tend to like thrillers I can escape into, read quickly and then forget (which is problematic when I'm back at the library and check out books that 3-pages in I realize I've read. The Atwood books are actually an exception to that because…

Great job and it's easy to see the changes! Keep up the great work!

Amazing - congratulations! We all need the inspiration and today, you're it! Thank you!

First, to everyone who responded before me - thank you! I'm not sure I suck at running, but I'm not so good at it and your responses are so helpful! I have dreams where I love running. I wake up, go to the gym and get on the treadmill and remember it was all a dream. I run slow - like 4 miles and hour slow. Sometimes I get…

Hopefully you're at home more often than the doctors. go with your scale, how you feel, how your clothes fit, etc.

Welcome! I'll friend you! It's a great community here!

You are all inspirational! Thank you for sharing your successes!

add me! I'm vegetarian/pescatarian and I dabble with veganism...

my version: I don't usually use oil, but it definitely makes it taste better when I do. I just do it by how things look, so I'm not sure how much time is in between vegetables, but this is usually the order I go with. I start by sauteing onions, add mushrooms (my new favorite is enoki), tofu (either tofu noodles or cubed…

I started about a month ago and have really focused on logging everything. I have a very sedentary job so if I don't exercise, I find my weight stays sedentary, too. We can do this!

How do you feel when you're under/over on things? If you're not getting enough protein and find you're often hungry, that is important to know. If you love watermelon (like me) and are over every day on your carbs/sugar (like me) but don't "crash" from the sugar, don't worry about it.

if you're logging your food and know you haven't eaten 17,000+ extra calories, it's just water. Go back over your food logs and see where sodium might be hidden. I find that processed and even simply prepared restaurant food tend to have a lot of salt (and it usually takes me three days to undo the damage). If I salt my…

way to go! I just started C25k and was thinking about doubling up on the the workouts (but only doing 3 per week). a mile is a great accomplishment!

you look great! Thanks for sharing. I'm 5'2 and I'm taking your progress as inspiration!

take it day by day and if necessary, meal by meal. I have a similar issue and I find myself starting to self-sabotaging. After a day, you'll be able to say, "okay, I did this for a day, let's go for two!" and just persevere. And none of us is perfect, so consider practice resiliency. Lastly - continue asking for support!

way to go!

I'm a huge Ezekiel bread fan. I buy it at Costco (cheaper than regular stores).

Log your food, even if you can't believe what or how much you ate. Start slow - maybe even don't make any changes for the first few days. Just seeing it all in black and white is sobering. And if you log faithfully for a week or two (even better), you'll get a sense of where you can cut. On the days that I really, really…

Great job! Enjoy your success!

hang in there, and good for your husband! Let's not underestimate the importance of a great support network!

I'm a huge fan of roasting almost anything (including Broccoli like R2R2 said above). I roast cauliflower with Old Bay seasoning and don't use oil (though I'm sure that would make it even better.) I could seriously eat an entire head without thinking about it. And, I hate to admit it, but someone gave me a small spiralizer…

I'm 51 and don't feel close to middle age! And, it's great to know that there are people here who are in a similar life stage  Would welcome friends/support.

So many wise responses so far - I'm not sure I can add much other than support (and I'll add you as a friend). There were a few people who mentioned logging what you're eating before even making changes so you have a sense of where you are calorie-wise now - that's so smart (and I wish I'd started doing that!). You can do…

I'm hoping to log every day so I'm to add you!

Thanks so much for sharing your story - you're commitment is an inspiration. And it sounds like you have an amazing doctor that not only offered you choices but is being an incredible support!
