In addition to calories I only looked at sodium at the beginning of my weight loss because my blood pressure was high. But low and behold as I lost weight the blood pressure dropped significantly so now I look only at calories.

Oh I am so glad to hear you will get some weight training in! Very wise of you. Please keep us posted! Best of luck meeting your goals.
-
Absolutely! Don't you dare give up. And you are doing a lot more than so many people your (and my) age are. You are on the right track.
-
I don't think I could do 30 minutes on a bike. High 5 to you! But if you stick with it for sure it will get easier.
-
30 minutes is great!!! I hate to break it to you but you aren't a spring chicken.
-
Me too. I just made a bowl of popcorn so I could sit back and enjoy reading this thread.
-
Glad you got the blisters under control. That is the absolute worst!

Oh my God that is so weird. I can't believe a gym would provide that. If you want staff to deal with it bring it up as a safety concern. I would say something like "At my old gym 15 was xxxx lbs but here I had no idea it was different and nearly hurt myself because it's much heavier." If the term "safety" is included I…

I just finished my 9th week of CrossFit. I also do a Saturday bootcamp. One thing I noticed about 3 weeks ago was how much more endurance I have at bootcamp now. And how much more confident with the barbell I am getting. At yesterday's bootcamp we had deadlifts and I wanted way more weight than I would have before. Plus I…

Oh good point. That stupid show.
-
How did you come to think that this rate is slow? Where did you get this idea? Exactly what results did you hope to see after only 3 weeks. You should be happy about that rate, not frustrated.

Yes "joining a gym" tends to be the 1st thing a lost of people do when they decide to lose weight. But "joining" and "attending" a gym are not the same thing. I know so many people that pay a monthly membership fee but have not gone in months. OP: Losing weight successfully is all in the food that you put in your mouth.…

Slouch socks!

Oh I don't know about that. Last week I saw stirrup pants in the store!! Lol

Oh boy your list really scares me. I am glad the good wise people of MFP have set you straight. You can do this without starving yourself or avoiding any one thing. It is really sad that so many people just don't know the basics of calories in vs calories out. So much bad advice is out there. No wonder the OP has gotten so…

It depends where you start. I started at 219 and made some pretty good progress. 59 lbs. (Nov to July)

VUA21 you look fantastic! You should be so proud of yourself. And excellent shopping. Gotta love a deal like that.
-
I have nothing insightful to add but just wanted to say how happy I am for you! Well done! You have so much to be proud of. Best of luck for round 2!
-
Good for you! Happy, happy joy, joy! Just keep doing what you were doing with a higher calorie count.

I initially joined MFP just for the forums. I never logged any food at all for about 6 months. My streak looks a lot more impressive than it really is because it took those first 6 months into account.

Be sure to wear clothes that fit properly. At 30 lbs lost I had to buy new smaller clothes and immediately people noticed and commented. Before that I was wearing the same loose baggy clothes and nobody said anything at all.
-
I created my own exercise called "bootcamp" and used a best guess for calorie burn.
-
My hand is up with you too!
-
Yep my butt hurts on all solid chairs now too. But I will take that over putting all that built in cushioning back where it was.
-
Oh my God I have struggled with this about 3 months now. Looks like I have a long road ahead of me. I saw your pic in your old pants in another thread. Oh wow! Hats off to you. Well done.

Last Nov. I tried a bootcamp class (63 lbs heavier than today) and it was very tough! I was paired up for some exercise (I forget which one) with a girl who was a "regular". I remember thinking that I wish I could be in that good of shape. I have seen her at bootcamp and another class often and have chit chatted with her a…

Wow, that sucks! Did you talk to the staff at the gym about this? Perhaps they have some tucked away somewhere.
-
Good for you! Yes it's very mental. I was shocked when I could do it the first attempt. High 5!
-
I was the same until I started lifting the barbell. It made me feel tough. Lol I found the machines and dumbells so boring. Learn properly and hopefully you will like it too. Weights are so good for the body. Best of luck.

I had a poor sleep last night but went to CrossFit this morning anyway. It was a bad idea. I was clumsy, bitchy, and weak. I think getting more rest and maybe going for a walk would have been better. Lesson learned.
