  • After a lifetime of being very overweight, at age 49 I lost almost 70 pounds. (gained about 15 back since Nov, but I’m working on that +5 more to get to my goal) I’ve had 3 children (all adults now) and it was time! It absolutely was worth it! I was never in fabulous shape at any age, other than maybe a few good months…
  • I have three homeschool grads 2013, 2017, 2019 I’m 51, 5’4”, lost 70 pounds of my 75 pound goal, and gained back about 10 since October. I’m hoping to get down to 150, I was so close! I’m hoping to get back where I want to be by the end of summer.
  • My daughter will also be a wrangler at a summer camp! She’s not looking to lose weight, though. My biggest concern is that she’ll be able to eat enough- she’ll be working hard and is a bit of a picky eater. My advice is assuming your camp will have similar meals- carb-heavy! If salad bar is an option, load up on veggies…
  • I’m 50 years old, overweight all my life but got really bad in the past 10 years. 5’4”, 225! I lost 70 pounds in 18 mos, and almost 15 crept back on since Thanksgiving. I’m hovering around 163 right now, looking to lose those last pounds by the end of summer. My goal is 150, to be more consistent with exercise, and to stay…
  • Some things I weigh or measure- butter, meats, cooked rice. My daughters do MFP with me and we actually use a 1/2 cup measure as our rice serving “spoon” Other things I do “close enough” so that it isn’t frustrating: for a salad, I’ll add “mixed greens” and “mixed vegetables” but I will log 1 hard boiled egg, 1 oz cheese,…
  • Convenience, classes, cost I mostly do dance fitness classes and treadmill/elliptical, and a few machines for arms I go to my local YMCA, my entire family membership (5 adults) is less than the cost of weekly 1hr Tap classes for me alone at our former dance studio so it’s a good deal for us.
  • If he seems generally harmless but clueless, just be direct. “Hey I’m focusing on my (whenever you do) but have a good workout!” I don’t apologize or say sorry but I might add thanks at the end. Then just ignore. Even if he continues to stand there and yap away, just act as if he’s another piece of gym equipment 🤣 Don’t…
  • WAY TO GO!!! I started out in size 20/3X I can now wear size 8 pants! I never thought I’d see single-digit sizes again. I still browse plus-sizes at first, forgetting. And I have taken unwanted clothing from my teenage daughters! Also, I went from 8.5W to 8 in shoes! It’s awesome but I’m am freezing right now because I…
  • Way to go! High fives and fist bumps ✋🏻👊🏻 And hug your wife for me- both today and again when she hits 50 lost (if she’s still trying to lose) 🤗
  • Age: 50 Height: 5’ 4” Weight: 157 Goal by 12/31/19: 150 and that’s also my final goal weight. I’ve gotten as low as 152 and as high as 159 over the past five months, mostly hovering around 155 Favorite Calorie Burning Activity: Sh’Bam- a hip hop dance fitness class at the Y Biggest Challenge to meeting your Goals: my needs…
  • Wow 50 pounds is awesome! As for pants size, are you comparing the exact same pants? Even in the same brand it can vary- right now I can wear Old Navy Rock Stars in size 8, 10, 12, and 14- but they're all different “Rock Star” types. So with that example you could have started in a size 16 that maybe fit more like a 22,…
  • About how much weight did you gain and/or do you want to lose? Was the gain due to health issues, eating too much, or exercising too little? Unless it’s a health issue or side effect of medicine, be sure you’re accurately tracking calories. Weigh and measure foods, be acccurate in logging meals and recipes
  • Awesome Momma! So maybe, for now, your goal isn’t to lose weight while you enjoy your life and take care of those babies. Maybe your goal can simply be to maintain/not gain. Maybe your goal can be to continue or find a good way to exercise and keep in shape. I have 3 kids (24, 19, 17) I was always somewhat overweight, but…
  • What is the purpose of your fasting? If it’s just to limit food/calorie intake for weight loss, could you switch up the timing or have a planned 100cal snack just before you usually get hungry? Or plan to break the fast an hour earlier If it’s for religious reasons, is the fasting intended to go along with…
  • Me and the Hubs Or worse, Me and the Hubster First of all, it’s “the Hubs/Hubster AND I” and secondly I don’t think they’ve even invented word for how very much I hate that nickname for husband 🤬
  • Yes!!! I missed my Monday workout- not gonna let Tuesday pass me by!
  • I totally understand the temptation! Over the past 18 mos I’ve lost 70 pounds. I’ve logged every day except for Thanksgiving and a special anniversary dinner. Some days under, some days over. Mostly weighing and measuring portions, sometimes estimating. Logging everything shows me that I still make progress after “bad”…
  • I met my husband in 1993 at a punk bar. Just celebrated our silver anniversary ❤️
  • 1,200 calories/day isn’t always enough. I work out so I can eat more. Also I really love my Sh’Bam dance fitness class at the Y, so that is more like fun than a workout. Bonus is our family YMCA membership costs less per month than my former tap dance classes and I don’t have to spend $100/year on a weird recital costume 😁
  • (Didn’t read any responses, just popping in because #goals is literally my profile pic) 🤣 I’m slightly sad because that hairstyle is no longer an option in Bitmoji 😑

  • If you m enjoy Facebook and/or use it for more uplifting interactions with others, there are two good options: 1. Unfriend them! But I understand that can cause it’s own drama, so... 2. Unfollow them. You’ll still be “Facebook friends but you won’t see their posts. You might see things depending on who’s tagged in…
  • I like the suggestions that are very brief (yes or thank you) and change the subject by asking how they’re doing. If they ask how you did it just briefly and simply say you don’t discuss it. I believe the majority of people have good intent, even if it isn’t what you want. I’ve lost 70 pounds, and some people have told me…
  • Some things I do: #1 is NEVER try to get the best value or most food for your money. 2/$5 Big Macs are NOT my friend 😭 Get ice water or unsweetened iced tea if you don’t do diet sodas Kids meal! Those tiny fries and small burgers are plenty for me, and they usually come with an 8oz soda, low-fat milk or bottled water and…
  • UUUGGGHHH I had a brief happy moment when I forgot about “awesome sauce” 🤬 Whenever I hear “At the end of the day” my brain just goes into Musical Mode https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QytyoGfwPnY
  • “Cool beans”- I just totally hate it “Easy-peasy” I’m convinced that must be part of some evil incantation or something because it stirs up a violent rage in my mind 🤬 Also, “No offense” I don’t think I’ve ever heard that spoken by someone who wasn’t saying something offensive. The general translation seems to be “I’m a…
  • Any chance you’re in SW PA? Do you have a particular race in mind? I haven’t run since my high school gym teacher made me, but I’ve been doing C25K on the elliptical at the Y
  • Omnivore here! However, I cannot tolerate any pork products, and I avoid shellfish except for an occasional shrimp or two. Three is the max. Also I really like a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes, especially anything with a middle eastern flavor. MMMmmmmm Falafel 😋 I always keep vegan burgers in my freezer because we…
  • No substitute just portion control. Individually wrapped mini bars or Dove squares. The Aldi store-brand dark chocolate squares are SOOOO good too. Fudge popsicles instead of ice cream sometimes satisfies. Hot chocolate made with cocoa powder, unsweetened vanilla almond milk and barely enough sugar and a dash of stevia…
  • I recently celebrated my silver wedding anniversary. About 6 months after the wedding, pregnancy weight gain made my rings too tight so I replaced them with a cheaper band. I NEVER fit into my original rings again until last month! And now, THEY JINGLE WHEN I SHAKE MY HAND!!! So now I’m always looking like I’m flapping my…
