I’m single, and don’t have kids. I earn enough that I can afford the surgery without it putting my finances too far out of whack. It’ll mean skipping a big vacation this year is all, and I’m fine with that. The consultant I’m going to is quoting €2,500+ which sounds about right from what I’ve heard. I’ve read his reviews…

Thanks for this. If you were happy at the time I think you should try not to doubt yourself now. I think the surgery techniques have advanced now to the point where you don’t come out black and blue. I have a consultation on Monday and a therapy appointment on Tuesday and I’m going to make the decision after both of those.

My age is mentioned in my OP. I don’t think I’ve been nasty to anyone, I’ve stated clearly what I’m looking for advice on - lots of people keep trying to give me advice on things I haven’t asked about, and I have asked them not to do that. It’s called being assertive and most adults should be able to do it. If I’m not…

You're absolutely entitled to hold that opinion. I think I've been pretty polite to people who have throughout this thread ignored me as I asked them more than once not to give their opinions on my weightloss journey. I think the people who have insisted on giving their opinions anyway are pretty rude - it's all…

Some people are just so egotistical. I've made it so clear that I'm not looking for and don't want advice on weightloss, but people just can't let it go. Even though several other people have already said this, for some reason you felt like it had to be said again Why? That's a rhetorical question, it's clear why. Thank…

Boxers/ MMA fighters do this all the time. They'll effectively starve/ dehydrate themselves the day before a weigh-in and then bulk up massively again leading up to their fight. For me, water retention and my period are two big factors in daily fluctuations. Sleep is a big one too, that I don't think people talk about…

Definitely. I haven't lost a huge amount of weight, so I think it's down to doing strength training and actually having some muscles in my legs now :)
-
Yes, from everything I've read it's not a weight loss procedure so much as a contouring one. What you're talking about in terms of being more proportional is exactly what I'm looking for - I'm relatively happy with all the rest of me, and that's partly why I feel like my stomach makes me look so frumpy, I look like someone…

That's the right choice for you then. A 0.02% chance wouldn't effect my decision. I do more dangerous things every day, like travel in cars and cross streets.

Because the last 5lbs didn't, and nor did the 5lbs before that. I've lose inches off my arms and legs and back, but not as much around my stomach, the area I'm most conscious of. As we all know, you can't spot reduce weight, and because of genetics/ biology we all carry weight in different areas. In my family, almost all…

Asked and answered!

I have heard a couple of people say this and it's a concern I plan to talk to the surgeon about. I've also heard other people say "It came back, but spread out over my whole body instead of just my arms, so I'm happy because I always hated how they looked"

When I'm motivated enough, I've found that eating a 250 cal breakfast, two 400 calorie meals and a snack is more than enough to keep me going without being hungry all the time at 1200-1300 calories per day. It really works in terms of weightloss but it's hard to stick to.

Yes, I was joking about that!

Do you have anything at all to say on the topic? Feel free to just move on with your day and forget this thread exists. Obviously, I can't get first-hand experiences from dead people. Thankfully, I know that dying from liposuction is very rare. Without context (was the woman a smoker? how old was she? was she significantly…

I am paying attention to people's firsthand experiences, because that's what I sought here. Someone talking about their uncle's wife's sister or friend's mom is quite different. I would be interested to hear from women, or men, who have had complications (ideally not from beyond the grave because that would be kind of…

You're right. It's just so frustrating :# I've specifically decided not to ask a bunch of my friends for their opinions on this because I want to make up my own mind, I just thought it would be helpful to hear some first-hand experiences like yours, and I've been watching some YouTube videos too. It is pretty cool that…

I've read that the risk is about 1/5000 in the States and less in Europe (where I am) because they are stricter on certain rules here. If you were born in 86 I'm a little younger than you, I'd be much lower risk than someone our mom's age for complications - but of course, it is always possible.

My PT is, naturally enough, against the idea. He acknowledges that it works but thinks it's a shortcut (it is, I get that and I'm okay with taking shortcuts) and that exercise and diet are better in the longterm. I agree with him on all of that and I have no intention of quitting the gym and eating pizza all day once I've…

FIVE pregnancies. You're a hero in your own right. Yes, I'm going to go for a couple of consultations before I make any decision.
-
I understand perfectly. I'm politely asking you to respect my request to stay on topic. For some reason that seems to be to do with ego, people feel the need to offer opinions I haven't asked for, and in face have specifically let you know I'm not looking for.
-
Thanks so much for your reply. Did you put any of the weight back on, and if so, did it come back in weird places or was it distributed fairly evenly?
-
I will, thanks. Again, and I should probably get a megaphone, anyone who wants to have a general conversation about the pros and cons of liposuction is totally free to start their own thread. That's not the topic of this thread, and I would really appreciate if people could try to stay on topic. If liposuction isn't…

People are really keen to give me answers to questions I didn't ask! As I said above, I have a doctor, a therapist and a personal trainer who are all much better placed than anyone here to give me general advice on weightloss and body image. That's why I'm specifically asking for advice from women who have gone through…

If I put the weight back on on my boobs/ butt/ legs I'd be okay with it. Hopefully not my face or arms but of course you don't get to choose. Ideally I'd like to continue maintaining my weight, which is what I've been doing for the last while - up a kilo or down a kilo occasionally, mainly depending on the time of the…

Thanks so much for your reply :) Can I ask what weight you were before, how many inches you lost and how you found the recovery?
-
Thank you so much for that tip.

Thanks x

I'm honestly just not that interested in people's personal opinion's on lipo or my weight. If there's anyone who has been through it, I'd love to hear from them. Otherwise, I have a PT, a doctor, a therapist and various other people who are better qualified to give me advice.

Yup, I've read a lot online and now I'm really hoping to hear from some people who have had first-hand experience of it, good or bad, there must be someone around who has done it :)
