  • To add to what I suggested above, using myself as an example. I have my profile set to “very active.” My daily steps are anywhere from 10,000-20,000/day, depending on the day, and most days I still get “extra” calories added to my log. Sometimes I eat them, sometimes I don’t, but it hasn’t adversely affected my weight…
  • One thing to note. You said you get at least 9,000 steps/day. That’s definitely more than “lightly active.” I would call that “active” or even “very active.”
  • All you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Period. There is nothing magical about keto, IF, or any other WOE. If you found something that works for you, fantastic, but everybody is going to be different. Whenever I have tried a low carb diet, I failed miserably. The minute you tell me I can’t eat something, I want…
  • Do you have negative calorie adjustments enabled? How big of a deficit are you shooting for each day (250, 500, 750, or 1000 calories)? How many calories have eaten compared to how many Fitbit says you earned? Is the deficit what you expected? Mfp doesn’t care about your steps, per se, only the calories.
  • This. Compare the number of calories Fitbit says you burned on those days to what MFP thinks you’ll burn. That’s your answer to the different calorie adjustments.
  • I tried the Slimfast diet about 15 years ago. It was an abysmal failure. I was hungry all the time and didn’t successfully lose weight doing it. I don’t have a problem drinking calories for meals on occasion; I went through a phase a couple years ago where I’d have a protein shake for breakfast, which I enjoyed and was…
  • That’s odd. On a cappuccino, for example, I can change the type of milk, and the nutrition info changes. https://www.starbucks.com/menu/drinks/espresso/cappuccino#size=39&milk=67
  • You can also look for the specific drink on their website. The nutrition info is there, and most of the time you also have the option to pick the type of milk, etc, that you used.
  • 100%, yes. I have learned so much since joining the site. I fell off tracking mid-late last year and started up again December 31st. Down 7 pounds so far, which the old me would've said is too little, but I'm in this for the long haul. If you read posts from the most seasoned members, they all have one thing in common:…
  • I guess it comes down to a couple questions: 1) Can you see yourself eating keto long-term (i.e. after you've lost the weight)? 2) Are the foods on a keto diet foods you would enjoy, and not feel deprived? For long term, sustainable weight loss, it's best to choose a plan that you can live with, not for a week, a month, 6…
  • I’m not on keto personally, but would imagine there are food lists out there to give you an idea what to eat. Pick some options from the list that you enjoy, and go from there. Is there a particular reason you’ve decided to follow keto? In terms of weight loss, calories are most important. That is, eating fewer calories…
  • It sounds like you have the right attitude. Be proud of yourself! I definitely empathize with how you feel. I seem to be surrounded by people who are either doing fad diets or who don’t think I’m losing fast enough. Keep doing what you’re doing, and the rest will fall into place.
  • Ooh, you’ll have to let us know how it is. I haven’t seen that one.
  • Have fun! What are you planning to see? I feel a bit better today, but it’s still early here (not even 7am yet). Hope everyone has a great day!
  • Do they advise a person to stay near the bathroom during this cleanse? Sounds delightful. 🧐
  • Love this thread. Thank you, OP. Having a good day diet and exercise wise, but personally it’s been really rough, for reasons I won’t bore you with. But I will say that this thread made me smile. ❤️
  • This is brilliant! And exactly the point I was trying to get at. Thanks for sharing. 😀
  • So true! I have seen a lot of this behavior in a workplace environment, amongst both men and women. Who can lose weight the fastest, and, especially, who’s suffering the most. When I was pregnant with my first child, I was actually the official weigh-in person for my office’s weight loss competition. One team would bring…
  • Yeah, sorry about that. I blame trying to type something meaningful on my phone while putting a small child to bed. Bad, bad multitasking on my part. 🌈
  • QFT. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You said it much more eloquently than I did. Thank you.
  • 🙋‍♀️ Full disclosure, I’ve been totally guilty of rolling my eyes at the many, many keto threads in these forums. If that woe works for someone long term, who am I to judge? I think I unintentionally project my own biases there. This is where I think it would be helpful to at least be able to ADD to posts later, but…
  • Yeah, that’s a good point! I have even seen people here bemoaning this, saying, “do I have to do this FOREVER?” I like the point that’s been mentioned a few times as well about structure. Maybe that’s something we all need. I get it from tracking my calories and eating what I want, while others get it from having a…
  • Of course not. Eek. If I came across as “why aren’t they doing it my way?” that wasn’t my intentional at all. The way they were both talking about their diets, they sounded miserable, which made me reflect on the many “magical” diets I’ve tried in the past, and my lack of understanding that it’s all about calories.
  • No judgment here, it just got me thinking is all. And the way they both takes about these diets, it sure didn’t sound like they were having any fun at all. 🤷‍♀️ Congrats on your weight loss success! That’s awesome!
  • I didn’t exactly know what carb cycling meant, tbh, but also something else about low carb and cutting caffeine, and changing things up every week or so. I dunno, it just sounded more complicated than necessary to me, is all.
  • How disheartening is it that even doctors don’t understand it? 😞
  • I love this. So poetic. And true! Full disclosure: for YEARS, I was convinced that the only way I could lose weight was on the Weight Watchers point system. Then they changed the points system a few times, and I was convinced that I was out of luck. Thank goodness for mfp!
  • A LOT of different things, all boiling down to eating my calories than I burned. More specifically, though: - thinking of some foods as “forbidden,” then binging on them later. Lots of binging. Classifying foods as “good” and “bad.” - Eating out of boredom, emotional eating, etc. - eating scraps of food off my kids’ plates…
  • My deficit is such that I’m losing weight consistently, albeit slowly. I eat what I want within my calorie goals
