  • Climbing through my car because the Tesla driver parked too close is much easier than it used to be. Then I realised that I didn't need to because I don't need to open the driver door as wide to get in as I used to. Downside is that I now have wrinkles in the weirdest places, including my underarm, breast, thigh and belly…
  • Today was my first review with the Dr after my T2 diagnosis. My fasting glucose was 4.2, and A1c was 5.4. Super proud at those results, as they were achieved by hard work and tracking.
  • After meeting my 105kg trend today, my next goal is to get my trend to 99.9kg, hopefully by my birthday in August, but I'll be ok if it takes longer. Not only will it be down to 2 digits, but it will take me out of morbidly obese and is the weight I need to get to to start horse riding lessons (Though to be nicer to the…
  • Yesterday I sat crosslegged for the first time since high school. I also learnt that I need to work on strength and flexibility in my knees, as they were stiff afterwards.
  • I have RA, and got the AZ vaccine. My doctor had me stop all RA meds for a fortnight on either side of the COVID vaccine. I don't have to do that for the flu vaxx.
  • I fit in the ladies snow gear at our local ski hire place. I haven't been in the ladies sizes in the last 20 years.
  • You calculate your deficit from TDEE, not BMR. Try that for at least a month, then compare your weight change against the expected, and work from there.
  • This was possibly me. It is the people close to use that we want to hear reassurance from, though personally I wouldn't say no to an acquaintance. In a gym setting, I would generally go with a complement about their progress in exercise, such as their lifting increase, running speed or duration etc. Show that you are…
  • I tried to be consistent, or to only eat healthy food. That just doesn't work for me. I do buy treats, but only single portion sizes, and I build them into my allotment for the day. Find what works for you. You don't have to follow others' rules if they make things harder to do.
  • Thanks Sand_tiger. It has been a rough week, and this was lovely to come back to. Well done on your hard work as well.
  • I was told that we lose weight unevevenly. I assumed that that would be breasts before gut or arms before butt. I didn't realise that individual body parts will lose unevenly. My breasts and arms have divots. No one told me that I could lose 25kg (50lb), and people wouldn't notice. No one told me that I could do this. I…
  • My jeans fell down, and I hadn't even put anything in the pockets. Luckily (or unluckily), my only witness was my 7 year old, who found it hilarious. Time to buy new jeans.
  • I want you to know that it is doable. Even though our illnesses and medications often make it more difficult, it is still possible. Today I walked less than 500 steps. That is unfortunately common. But I have also lost 24kg (50lb) in 8 months. It all comes down to diet. CICO works, we just have smaller CO because we are…
  • The short lockdowns are implemented to give time for contact tracing to occur. The goal is only to buy some time without community spread so that everyone who is a possible contact will be put into home quarantine. If you are a contact, then you get the full 14 days. Locations of spread are publicised, and people are…
  • I can take my watch off without undoing the buckle. I'm also feeling taller and can squeeze through gaps easier.
  • It's even worse than that. A tablespoon in Australia is 20mL (and a cup is 250mL). Another reason to use standard SI units.
  • My goal is to walk 200 000 steps this month. It works out to about 6 600 per day. Doable, but will take effort and consistency. My second is to get my trend weight below 110kg, which will hopefully happen this month as well.
  • In this situation, I try to pick similar foods from restaurants, as I know that it is likely that provided meals in an educational setting are probably lower in salt, fat and overally calories, due to our local requirements (ymmv), and I would rather overestimate these things than underestimate. It involves some…
  • Both coffee and tea are disgusting. As are olives.
  • I have plenty of sugar free and artificially sweetened items, as I need to keep track of my carbs, and I have salt reduced as I often find fully salted foods overwhelming. But I love my full fat items, especially yoghurt. Many diet products take the taste out and replace it with disappointment.
  • I spontaneously suggested to walk home from swimming lessons with my eldest, and we had a great time. A bit hot, and thongs (flip flops/jandals) were a poor choice, bit a lot of fun. I didn't even get sad when we had to backtrack back up a hill when a path was closed off.
  • Today I was given a t-shirt for a volunteer role I have taken up at my local university. It was the largest size that they had, and it is too small. My NSVs are that 1) it is only one size too small, so will be tight but wearable, and 2) that I am not beating myself up over it. I will fit it in a month or two, at my…
  • They have recently been fixing a bug with S-health where it didn't count steps. I find that it now does, bit resets to 0 steps if you add to either exercise log. It sometimes comes back, but not always. Resetting both apps can help. You can find the recorded number both in the exercise section of your diary and under the…
  • Generally, the larger your weight, the faster you can lose it. At 350lb, it is likely to come off quicker than someone who is 150lb. But there are two main reasons to try to go a bit slower. The first is to preserve muscle mass as you lose, and good protein levels and exercise will help that. The second is that you way of…
