  • Glad to have found this group. Looking forward to sharing some new recipes. I've had my IP for about 3 years. For the longest time I only used it to make shredded chicken and hard boiled eggs. Or, just as a crock pot. Now I use it at least 4 to 5 times a week. I also have purchased some accessories and have been…
  • I was itchy yesterday too. Did not scratch it. I'm finding that changing up my evening routine is helping. I'm keeping busy and not just coming home after work to indulge in wine o'clock. It seems to be helping.
  • Hello October thread!! So glad we are continuing this journey together. September was far from perfect for me, but much improved. I still have some work to do. I am sure I will get even closer to my goals in October. This group has been positive motivation for me. So happy we are together again in October.
  • Thank you for posting this. I think it really hits home for me. I have often thought that I needed something to replace the habit of having a glass or two of wine every evening. I never really thought about changing my entire evening rituals. It makes total sense though. @WinoGelato Your post exactly describes what my goal…
  • Thank you for sharing this. I'm on my way to this very lifestyle you are describing. I still have a ways to go, but thank you for posting. It is very encouraging.
  • Good morning, everyone. Just catching up here. Love reading the posts and many are so inspiring. I had a pretty challenging weekend. Hurricane Florence passed through our area. We are in the Charlotte area, so we had mostly rain rain rain. Not nearly as bad here as our friends on the coast. I was very proud of myself that…
  • Thank you, Orphia! I will check this website out today. It looks like a great tool to keep track.
  • That does answer my question. Thank you. I'm actually considering keeping a journal to track my progress.
  • I have a question. How are you counting your AF days? I see many posts about consecutive days. Does anyone add up the AF days even if there is a moderation day or two in between? I have had way more AF days over the past month than I have had in quite some time. And the days I have allowed myself to drink have been in…
  • This sounds yummy. I'm going to pick up some grapefruit today and give it a try.
  • Yup...that voice in my head says the same thing. ESPECIALLY on the weekends. I think I will join you in an AF weekend. Sadly, I can't remember the last time I had one. Let's give it a shot (not the usual kind of shot :D ).
  • @JenBlalock Glad you found us. This is a great group. Lot's of support and good advice. I can relate to the evening drinking. Somehow that glass of wine has become a daily thing. It started as having a glass while cooking dinner. Then another with dinner. Many times some more after. I have managed to reel that in, but I…
  • Well, broke my AF weeknights promise to myself last night. Had dinner with my sweetie and we shared a bottle of wine. I had 2 glasses. Even though I gave in to that voice in my head, I still feel like I had a victory. Normally one or two glasses continue into way more and feeling bad the next day. I definitely had less and…
  • I'm 51 and I get exactly what you are saying. I recently hit the big "M" and my metabolism tanked. Not an excuse for me to let things go, but definitely have to keep myself in check more than ever because it is way harder to lose weight now than it was 10 or 15 years ago. I just sent my youngest of four kids off to…
  • I am currently tackling the weeknight red wine habit and doing pretty well with that. I usually have sparkling water with lime or mix cranberry juice with club soda. I sometimes put it in a wine glass just to be fancy and that seems to do the trick. I crochet, so I recently pulled out my yarn and that keeps my hands busy…
  • Good morning all! I hope everyone enjoyed a long holiday weekend. We spent the weekend with some friends at the beach. I indulged a little too much on Saturday evening, but I did great the rest of the weekend. I am not going to beat myself up over a slip up. I may have stumbled a little, but at least I didn't fall…
  • I'm so glad I found this thread. @Orphia thank you for continuing this into September. I love that everyone seems to get the support and motivation they need here even though they each may have different goals.
  • @alteredsteve175 Thank you. I will check out Libra. I am pretty much a visual person, so seeing a trend line would be helpful and keep me motivated. I do take measurements and photos. It really does help to take in the whole picture.
  • Congratulations on losing 8 pounds! I have many friends that do the Keto diet with much success. It's not for me as I am a carb junkie find it too restrictive. You have to find what works for you. As long as it is a healthy lifestyle and your doctor approves. I am starting to accept that the scale is stubborn at this point…
  • We are spending the weekend at the beach with some friends. This will be a challenge for me, but I have put plans in place to stay on track. With food and with beverages. Luckily, this group is not a bunch of drinkers. That is half the battle for me in a social setting.
  • I love this!! Once a week sounds like a great plan. I just need to make sure I don't try to make up for the entire week on that one day :#
  • Good morning, everyone. Just found this thread and I can relate to many of the posts. I am 51, a 3 year breast cancer survivor, and in the middle of full-blown menopause. Losing weight is very difficult at this stage. Not impossible, but it definitely doesn't come off as easy as it did 10 years ago.
  • I just found this thread and can relate to so many of the comments on here. I hope this thread will continue into September. I have been indulging way too much in my evening glasses of wine. It's affecting my weight loss efforts. Not to mention my wallet. I have just started training for a half marathon in November, so I…
  • @katharmonic Nice job! You finished and that's what matters. It's not easy to run in the heat and humidity. Throw in those hills and it becomes a challenge for sure. Congrats on placing in your age group too!
  • That is a little crazy, but I think we all have to be a little crazy to do the distance running thing. Looks like you are training for the Marine Corp, so you need to do the miles anyway. Why not do it with the motivation and fun of a race. And get the bling too!! It's all about that bling. Enjoy your race and let us know…
  • I'm totally there with you. I could copy and paste your post and it would match my current situation. Even though I eat healthy most of the time, menopause has totally kicked my butt. I joined here hoping that I will stay motivated to eat right and more importantly, get that exercise in. I try to run 3 days a week, but…
  • Hi all! Hope it's not too late to join the challenge. Looks like a fun group. I took a week (or three :D ) off since my last race in July. I'm in for 40 miles for August just to ease back into it with this heat. I will be ramping my miles up soon to start training for a half marathon in November. Looking for some…
  • I have been struggling as well. I really only like to exercise outside and air quality has been awful here too. The humidity the past couple of weeks is miserable. I have forced myself to do DVDs at home and I found a place to walk at lunch that is indoors with lots of stairs. I am supposed to start training for a half…
