I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few years ago and the best advice I could give is that you're going to have to put in the work. Cut out/down the carbs. For most, this is cutting out the sweets, for others it may be the breads and pastas. There are SO many great alternatives out there. Exercise will make all the…

I don't disagree at all, and I've been completely open with my therapist. 😁 I'm actually seeking out a new therapist who specializes in trauma and EDs. But in these in-between days, I'm just looking for some new ideas that I haven't tapped. There is SO much good advice in this thread - thank you all so much!

No idea why it's in my head, but I've listened to it four times in the last hours. :D https://youtu.be/FC3y9llDXuM

To be clear, mental health is health and this is a health thread. I did not ask for a cure, as I am very aware that there isn't a cut-and-dry cure, but rather for advice on coping mechanisms that I maybe haven't discovered yet. I am already actively working HARD on my recovery, but this disorder is a HUGE obstacle when it…

Hiya! Back for the gazillionth time. I've spent the better part of the last year focusing on my mental health, and I'm ready to switch gears and give this body the love it deserves. Looking for active friends. :)

Between asthma and being overweight, stairs are my natural enemy. There is a bridge nearby that stands approximately 150 feet above the river below. There is a stunning stairway/path down to the river and Lake Michigan. Super easy to get down, 270+ steps back up. I've wanted to tackle it for the last few years and finally…

I'm going to walk/jog my first 10k in October. I created a training plan and I am SUPER excited.

I think everyone is pretty much on the same page here - whatever works for you. If I'm going to workout in the morning or mid-day, I like to have a little protein and fruit (a light snack, if you will) and then hang tight for about a half hour. This seems to help keep my blood sugar from dropping mid-exercise.

Wow! The original post here was so eye-opening and this entire thread is inspiring. Thank you for sharing!

Even though I am SO sore from moving over the weekend, I made the conscious choice to walk home (instead of drive) from work yesterday. That left me feeling super motivated, and I now I can't wait for my exercise class tonight. :) :)

Hey, hi! Feel free to add me for daily motivation, sarcasm and memes that never should have been created. ;)

I biked 12 miles this past weekend and I'm still alive! :D

I'm also living with PCOS and Type II Diabetes. My nutritionist has me focusing on a high protein "diet". Of course, low carbs is a no-brainer, but don't try to eliminate them. Your body still needs healthy carbs! Strength training exercise plays a major role in lowering your A1C. Decreased animal protein intake helps as…

Hello, all! My name is Ashley and I'm addicted to food. I've been struggling with Binge Eating Disorder all of my adult life and my number one goal is to get some control over it. I recently developed some restriction behaviors and that was a huge red flag for me. It's sort of like now or never, you know? Second goal is to…

Thank you both for sharing! This makes me feel a little more hopeful.

I'm starting with just about the same numbers, and I'm terrified of ending up with lots of loose skin. I know it's going to happen, but would also like to hear other experiences.

If you're into sarcasm and accountability, let's be friends! ;)

Hi there! I've been there, done that a few times now (without success). It's never too late to pick yourself up and start over again, right? My main goal is overall health improvement, but a smaller goal is to be able to participate in a 5k this fall. :# Wish me luck! And don't hesitate to add me as a friend if you are…
