  • I no longer eat a lot of meat/beef (have been moving towards a more pescetarian style woe), however I do enjoy a Whopper a couple times a year and I would continue getting it with the real beef. I've never tried fake meat options, just doesn't appeal to me at all.
  • From the link- It's not yet clear whether artificial sweeteners actually cause harm, however. Observational studies that link the sweeteners to health problems do not prove the sweeteners themselves are responsible. eta: every study/article I've read about artificial sweeteners always says something similar in it, because…
  • I mixed it dry into plain Greek yogurt, along with a mashed banana and then the Nilla cookies-great afternoon snack and I was able to check off a fruit and a dairy :# It was the sugar free kind of jello mix.
  • Vegetables & Fruit--8 Dairy -- 2.5 Grains --5 Meat -- 3oz ; Beans (alternative protein)--1 serving Added fat -- 1 (olives) Nuts and seeds --x Added sugar -- sweet n' sour sauce, 1/2 serving Nilla cookies and a serving of cheesecake flavored pudding (dry mixture)
  • Except I lost 50lbs and improved all my health markers, while drinking several cans of diet soda every day. Now years into maintenance I still drink diet soda and consider it one of the tools in my weight management plan.
  • Another Michigander-yep, it's pop Lol :)
  • Your weight will fluctuate daily due to all sorts of normal reasons, NOT fat gains related. Things like digestion periods, potty timing, water retention (from sodium intake, adding new excercise or adding intensity to your current exercise routine), hormones-PMS, tom etc, what time of the day you weigh yourself etc etc…
  • Aldi has spoiled me-whenever I go somewhere else now I mentally time the cashier :D I can't stand chatty clerks, drives me nuts! Exchanging of pleasantries is one thing but I do not want to have to explain the items in my cart, nor do I care about your boyfriend/grand kids/dog. Aldi clerks get me in and out of the checkout…
  • But a year later OP is right where they were at last year, so I'm not seeing changed habits or using the tools they learned the first time they tried this? eta: what the OP is describing in the op is the definition of yo-yo dieting. Meaning they're not getting anywhere and they're not actually making progress- In this…
  • There's a few options that don't use aspartame. Coke makes a diet option that uses Splenda ie sucralose.
  • I'm not, I'm using MapMyRun and have a route that's 1.43 miles right now. First time it took me 20.14 minutes (a mix of walking/running), and my latest one on Saturday was 18.37 minutes, so I'm already seeing some progress after 4 times :)
  • Yeah, haven't tracked in a few days either, just needed a break. I've been trying to figure out where I'm going from here-starting in January I started a small weight loss phase to lose some winter 'fluff', and I lost a few pounds, (same time as I started DASH). But, March was a wash and I actually regained a couple back.…
  • You gained the lost weight back, and you're doing it again? Weight loss doesn't mean anything if you can't keep it off, that's just yo-yo dieting. Not quite sure why you'd do something again that failed to be successful the first time you did it?
  • I shop by myself, Aldi is to small for the chaos that is my family :D
  • It's my new favorite, I hope they continue making it!
  • My heart health markers started improving once I started drinking diet soda. 7 years of drinking diet soda now, and I continue to have excellent twice a year blood work panels/health markers.
  • Do you really think stores are selling tainted meat? And my veggies are clean because I wash them, not quite sure what you're trying to say here? Do you mean spoiled?
  • It is, though when we do go out it's to very specific places. And we use coupons lol.
  • Nope, each of my husband/kids have their own set of likes and dislikes, that are different. My husband also has IBS, one of my kids is lactose intolerant and one has eating issues that stem from his ADHD. And then throw in my specific eating preferences DASH/pescetarian leaning, and meal time can be challenging, to say the…
  • You also have to factor in multiple people's food preferences though. Of your shopping list example above I'd be the only one who'd actually eat everything on your list, of my family, (and I'd only eat the cucumber if I had to lol). I have 5 different lists of food preferences/likes/dislikes that I have to work with, it's…
  • I just buy it pre-done, they're in the freezer veggies section. I can get a bag of rice cauliflower for around $1 at Aldi.
  • We ate out for both breakfast and lunch today so I went simple tonight-two slices whole grains seeded bread, toasted, with light cheese spread; an orange and then 1/2 serving of Wheat Thins.
  • Yes, I started drinking diet soda back when I started my weight loss phase, (before that I was drinking regular soda). Went on to lose 50lbs and improve all my health markers, while drinking 4-5 cans of diet soda a day. Now I'm a few years into maintenance and I continue to drink 2-3 cans of diet soda a day, (I started…
  • I'm in maintenance and my daily weigh-ins are one of the tools that I use as part of my weight management plan. The data from my weigh-ins have been very helpful for me, but if weigh-ins are stressful for you OP then it probably is a good idea to take a step back from the scale for a while. Just make sure you're using some…
  • It's great that you've found a way that works for you but macros ratios are a pretty individual thing. When I bother to track my intake I'm usually at around 60% carbs because I eat a plant focused diet. Someone else may do better with a low carb macro ratio etc. Also, your math doesn't work for me-if I do my current goal…
  • For weight management it's calories that matter, not macros. Focus on your calories first, macros are a distant second.
  • Weight loss comes down to being at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals. All dieting plans are based on that truth. How you go about creating that calorie deficit is up to you-if you think a more structured plan that has rules/restrictions, like keto, is something that would work best for you then give it…
  • 7 years into the process and that's where I'm at now-I've lost the excess weight and am maintaining, but I can no longer ignore the being 'active' part of the equation. I've focused a lot on the 'healthy' food aspect, but am starting to realize that probably isn't that big of a deal, in the scheme of things. I'm really…
