  • I'm not a fan of slimming world as I don't think it teaches people portion control. It's fine if you have loads to lose, but once you're under 10st, the amount of calories you get from eating unlimited fruit, chicken, eggs etc. is too much for a smaller person who only needs 1400-1600 calories. I gained weight with both…
  • Hey, add me :) we can be supportive of each other.
  • Looking for new friends  I'm 28, 4ft 9, weigh 138lbs, hoping to get down to around 120-125 as my first goal.
  • I don't roller skate, but I do ice skate and I love it!! it's so mentally rewarding as well as good exercise. I fall ALOT. But the more you fall, the less painful they get as it becomes muscle memory to fall in the correct positions. I felt so awkward when I first started, as the kids were doing double and triple jumps and…
  • Hey - I have anxiety and BPD and I've found doing exercise in the morning, or during my work lunch break to be helpful. Yes it's awful sometimes getting out of bed when you have those days where you don't want to face the world or anyone in it, but the feeling you get afterwards is what keeps me going. Also, I find the…
  • Pilates might be a good one to try? Like you, I went from not being able to do a half/box push-up to full push-ups performed slowly in about 4-5 months. I started it to improve core strength to help me with ice-skating but it's had a huge impact in my overall strength and I feel great doing it.
  • I also don't think it is as dire as it looks. Instead of trying to just lose 10lbs, maybe add some strength exercises to tone those areas where it is tight? The combination of fat loss and toning areas will make a bigger difference than just the fat loss alone surely? You got this  Also, you can have those body…
  • Original starting weight - 146 April starting weight - 139 April goal -135 Ultimate goal - 125 1st - 139 8th - 138 15th - 138 (losing 4 lbs in a month for me is very optimistic, but as long as it isn't a gain, I am happy  ) 22nd - 29th - Total loss for April - 1lb so far
  • Per week: Pilates: 2 x 45 mins Figure Skating: approx. 8-10 hours (4-5 times per week) Horse-riding: approx 3 x 30 mins per week Cardio (treadmill or eliptical): 2 x 20 per week. I'm trying to increase the intensity of my cardio workouts, as I'm struggling with time lately (excuses I know  ). Any tips to increase…
  • The way I see it, you have 3 choices: 1) don't exercise. But you need to adjust your calories. If you're gaining a lb a day, you're overeating ALOT. 2) Hate it but do it anyway. We all have to do things we don't like, but we're adults and that's life. 3) The one I recommend - find something you don't hate. Although you…
  • I would do HIIT then you don't have to exercise for long periods. Maybe 15-20 mins every other day at first. There are some good videos on youtube that you can do in your home, whilst dinner is in the oven. Or do a longer low intensity exercise like a 5 mile walk on your days off?
  • This sounds like fun :) Bit late to the party, but never mind. Original starting weight - 146 April starting weight - 139 April goal -135 Ultimate goal - 125 1st - 139 8th - 138 15th - 22nd - 29th - Total loss for April -
  • I think I might take a leaf out of your book and add more weight training into my cardio routines. Agree slow is better. A little weight definitely makes a big difference though. I've lost about 6lbs over 4-5months, and I can definitely feel the difference.
  • The more you do it, the better it will feel. You will find there are plenty of other people in the classes early on in their weight loss journey. There will also be the skinny minnies that look like fitness models - but they weren't born that way, and will never laugh at you because they work hard to get where they are.…
  • I'm so sorry to hear about this struggle you're both going through. Me and my mum went through a similar struggle when I was aged 16-18 (before moving out). 10 years later and I've moved back home and the roles have now actually reversed. It really annoyed me seeing her eat unhealthy large portions of food. Often she…
