I LOVE pilates!! I don't see a lot of people on here who do pilates, though. I've been doing it for over a month and I absolutely love my pilates classes!

Thank you (for the hug, and the response!) I have heard advice that I should cycle instead, but I live in the Pacific Northwest and the weather isn't great for cycling year around. The indoor spinning is possibly an option, but I've heard it's not as good of a calorie burner. Do you cycle outdoors year-round?

New here, AGAIN. I've recommitted. Feel like a loser being back here after I was so sure the last time I was on here (about a year ago) would be THE time that my life changed. But, alas, I guess i didn't learn whatever it was I was supposed to learn because I never lost the weight. This time focused on tracking food and…

If you're human, you're welcome here. Good luck on your journey~!

Thank you for the kind, honest words of support. You sound a lot like me. I would LOVE an all dessert restaurant! I didn't even know such a thing existed, lol. It's an ongoing, constant battle and I HATE that it is. But then I think about all the battles people have, and this is mine. It could be worse.

wowza. 99lbs. You're amazing!!

I do have a touch of adhd, I'm sure. But I am reading specialist and I work with a LOT of students with severe adhd and I can definitely attest to the difficulties living with it. I'm glad for you that you have found a way to cope. It can be a real struggle, as you said.

I'm guessing you're right and the psychology behind this issue is bigger than I realize. Thank you for your honest insight.

I was thinking this is true for me and I was going to stop sweets cold turkey for about a month, knowing that I could bring them back at some point in moderation, but even stopping for a few days was torture. I know I get way too much of my happiness from food. Which is really crazy because I have a really great family and…

I've told myself many times that if I can't eat my treats in moderation, I will have to completely abstain. I tend to think that the threat of that real possibility would get me to eat them in small amounts and track them. But for some reason I can on most days, then a day comes by when I feel like I can't possibly get…

I've been wondering about Noom. But I didn't want to put money into just another weight loss gimick when I know the answer lies in ME. Part of my hesitation to try it was also that I don't know anyone who had used it. So, was it helpful to you in other ways? Would you recommend it?

That makes sense. Behaviors we've put in place as children totally can play a role in our adult lives. I completely believe that.
-
That's a really good point. I KNOW it's a mindset change that i need to make.

There are certain things that are harder than others, I agree. You saying that you have one to two pieces a day (candy) and don't think about it otherwise makes me think about making a plan. I've never been one to plan food, even though I know so many weigh loss experts say to do just that. Maybe if I make a food plan for…

I listen to a podcast called Weight Loss Made Real with Cookie Rosenblum. She talks a lot about exactly what you are saying. It's just food. Nothing special. You can have it anytime as long as you log it. I know that all logically, and I've even felt incredibly powerful and elated when I think about that at the moment and…

I'm familiar with Gretchen Rubin. I've heard of her theory on moderators vs abstainers before. I went back just now and read the article you linked here. In it, she has two descriptors for moderators and and two for abstainers. I answered yes to one of each. So I guess I'm both, lol.

It makes sense. I can easily eat 10 potato chips, no problem. Put the bag away and don't think about it again for a long time, if at all. I just can't do that with sugar.
-
Thats very interesting and helpful.Thank you for your response. I've always had food insecurity, but not the way you have. It was not financial with me it was more because of always trying to diet. I felt like I shouldn't/couldn't eat that candy bar and so every single time I did, it was "I'm never going to have this again…

Giving up all sweets this year. Wish me luck!

My hubs makes a homemade coleslaw that is so delicious. It's got mayo so you gotta be careful with calories, but I could easily eat a huge bowl of it.

Thanks for this, Jessi! I just listened to this podcast and it was quite insightful. I appreciate you!!

Craving a sweet treat after dinner and decided on a piece of sweet mint gum instead. Totally took care of the craving~

English breakfast tea with a TBS of half and half and a teaspoon or two of maple syrup (lower glycemic than table sugar) or Constant Comment tea.- black tea with a little orange and cinnamon. I LOVE tea and a little sweet cookie to go with it in the afternoon.

I LOVED Sweet Valley High! Had all the books!!

I get them when I haven't had enough water and I'm slightly dehydrated.

Actually, taking maintenance breaks as you go through your weight loss journey is really important. It gets your brain ready and accustomed to maintenance before you get there, to reduce the change of regain (which is so common). The podcast Half Size Me is amazing and she talks about maintenance and taking diet breaks in…

Listen to the Half Size Me podcast. The host constantly talks about maintenance breaks and why they are important to make the transition to maintenance easier. She's all about learning about maintenance while you lose. It's really good. It will answer all your questions. I listen to it while I walk and drive.

I'm three and a half pounds away from being in the "overweight" category, as opposed to "obese". My mini goal is to get into "overweight" category by the end of the month, and to walk 100 miles this month. (Intentional walks, not just daily steps around the house!)

Thank you, for saying this. The first few sentences of your post made me want to punch you, then the last three sentences made me want to high five you, lol. Seriously, I am glad you posted this. I have seen this article and it helps, but it helps even more to hear it from a real person on a real journey. I have much the…

Diet soda makes you crave sugar. I'm not judging, I have a diet Coke problem myself. But I know that it makes it harder to stay away from sugar. You will crave it more. If you can ditch it, you should. Then tell me how, lol.
