I didn't realize how much of this journey would be about identity and not weight. That is, I started out with an understanding of who I was that went along with the weight I was and what my body could do at that time. That identity included a lot of unconscious fears and limitations. Lots of "I could never do X" type of…

Awhile back when I first got serious about losing weight and getting fit, my husband took me to a store where serious runners shop. I could barely run far enough on their track for them to check my gait, but with my husband's encouragment, I eventually left with some nifty Alta Torins that cost The Earth!!! I was horrifed…

@springlering62 ...IKR!! I'm still mourning a few of my favorite pieces and keep hoping I'll find a way to make them work.

I didn't realize how much my personal style would change. I always gained weight very proportionally, and I was pretty happy with my style. So I just figured I'd wear the same stuff in smaller sizes. Nope. Even with roughly the same body shape, things just fit and look different than before. Building up muscle impacts…

I love your attitude, and I believe you can succeed.

Th Probably you've already thought of this, but I'll mention in just in case....have you recalculated your MFP goals to reflect your current weight? If not, the problem may be that you've lost down to the maintenance level of your current weight and aren't in deficit anymore. That happened to me a couple of times on my…

What an encouraging thread. I love that you've searched out safe ways to exercise that work for your medical condition.

Great idea for a thread! Here's my simple pleasure today: Morning coffee scritches with Chester the Mighty...

Yes it does! Isn't it exciting?!! I was a total skeptic when I first started MFP. My trainer swore by it, but I had always used Atkins and then gained everything back when I started eating carbs again. So when she said I could eat anything as long as I logged it and stayed in budget, I just did it to humor her. After all,…

Wow that's FANTASTIC!!! You have worked so hard for this. Congratulations!! You are such an encouragement.

Wow, that's impressive! You've been a great contributor, too. Yours are some of the posts I always read when I see them.

You've gotten good advice already, so I'll just add this: consider setting your calories to maintence for the next month or so while you get past the sugar cravings. Your body probably needs to relearn how to balance your blood sugar without all the quick sugar hits. That's enough to deal with without adding a calorie…

Today I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Bad sleep, bad mood, felt bloated/old/blah, etc....One of those days you want to hide and can't. Thankfully it's going better now thanks to these NSVs: 1.) I made myself go to the gym anyway. 2.) I discovered a GREAT workout to do on days like this. First I did the 30-minute…

I helped my husband carry a large cherry dresser upstairs. That thing was HEAVY even without tge drawers, but I managed. It felt great that he didn't have to call one of his friends to come over.

Welcome back! I'm not sure what Golo for Life, but I know you can do well with MFP if you log diligently. The information on the forums is so helpful, too.

My natural resting heart rate was right at 53-54 when I first began trying to lose. It wasn't an issue at all. I lost 40 lbs at age 51yrs by counting calories and exercising. (Strength training, rowing, swimming, treadmill) Now that I'm in better shape, my resting rate often sits at 48. It's no big deal. The only thing I…

Today I'm bloated and up a couple of waterweight pounds. I feel HUGE compared even though I know it's just hormones. So here's the NSV: I can still fit into ALL my goal weight clothes including the new sports bra I got last week that's my smallest size since puberty (a happy thing). So if today is my new worst, I'm still…

I took a size 4 in the denim jeggings I just bought.

At first I was just happy to lose anything. However, as my weight started going down, I found this site to be really helpful: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/ It not only gave me a possible target weight to shoot for, it also helped me figure out what my maintenance calorie budget might look like.

My 25th wedding anniversary is next week, and we're going to a baseball game to celebrate. The NSV is that I booked a parking pass without looking to see where it was located because I don't care. Hubby and I are fit enough to walk to the stadium, climb the stairs to our seats, and STILL feel good enough to stand up and…

Thanks for coming back to tell us what you discovered. The information about carbs and salt was helpful to me. Glad you're back on track now.

Love your photos AND your story of why you began this journey. Well done!!

First, check and make sure there isn't an MFP entry that matches your package because sometimes you'll find one if you keep scrolling down the list. But, if there isn't one, I'd follow the package. MFP is a database created by users, so it has a lot of errors and outdated information. It's still very useful for making it…

My husband loves ours. I tolerate it because it makes such a difference to him. I'm glad to know it can be washed in the machine.

Yesterday I wore a Juniors size tshirt to the gym because it was loose enough to be comfortable. It used to be in my "too tight to wear" box.

Welcome! Having your schedule so topsy-turvy is a challenge, but bodies are wonderfully adaptable. Glad you're ready to focus before you end up with health problems. You'll be glad you did!

I usually give them a chance and then delete them if they turn out to be creepy. The nice people have far outnumbered the icky ones. I do wish people would take time to fill out their profile, though. Those requests always make me wary, and I have refused some of those. Depends on how long they've been on MFP. Occasionally…

This afternoon while driving tired, I almost took the exit to my gym instead of staying on the highway to where I was going. Apparently my subconscious now thinks all car trips lead to the gym. My default used to be Walmart.
