  • I wore a dress today without leggings under it. The dress hits above the knee. Not super short by any means, but I've always worn leggings with it because I felt self-conscious without them.
  • @ddsb1111 I'm glad you felt heard. That's really important. I love the way @vanmep put it about the mental stuff being at least half the battle. I hope some of the advice you've found here will help. That's what's so awesome about the MFP Community! I've learned so much reading threads. Good for you for posting your issue!
  • @mtaratoot ...you may not consider it an NSV, but I'm totally impressed by your rowing story @MichelleV1990 ...Yay for watching the belt holes go down! That's the best feeling! I'm sure you're rockin' your new pants, too. As for me, I'm currently in a small battle with a 2lb gain in my maintenance range. I haven't yet…
  • C'mon folks! I know I can't be the only one seeing NSVs these days... For all you new people.... NSV=non scale victory Nothing is too small to celebrate. It's the little daily things that keep us all motivated even when the scale doesn't immediately cooperate. And the process of NOTICING the positive changes can really…
  • Thanks y'all :)
  • I know what you mean about mental blocks. That's been the hardest part of the journey for me. One trick I've used is to start with just a little bit of the thing I'm resisting. Like, force yourself to weigh ONE meal a day. Or make yourself weigh ONE food you eat regularly for a week. Baby steps like this help me balance…
  • Sometimes what feels like shoulder pain can actually originate from a misalignment in the neck or upper spine. You could also have a rib contributing. The muscles keep tensing because they're compensating for the misalignment. That's why massage helps but the pain returns. A visit to a good chiropractor should be able to…
  • Hubby and I walked a 5k today. Someday I hope to run one, but today was a great start! I had ordered a large tshirt, but Hubby encouraged me to ask for a medium...and it FITS!! :)
  • I sleep better with a small snack before bed, so I normally eat a bit of yogurt or a small spoonful of peanut butter just before bed. It's never made a difference in my weight loss. However, when I've been fasting for some reason, it helped me to drink a glass of water before lying down. Yes, you may wake up to pee in the…
  • 1.) Are you taking progress photos? Do you have any "before" shots? It's amazing what games our minds will play during this journey. Seeing photos can really help you realize how far you've come. 2.) Related---try taking your measurements every few weeks. Things will show up there that you can't see with the naked eye. It…
  • LOL...I was just coming here to page springlering only to see that Ann already did!! Too funny!!
  • Unless there's a specific reason why you feel you need to increase the carbs, I wouldn't worry about it. MFP really overestimates the carbs IMHO, and I've never followed their ratio. Instead I focus on getting 100g protein and then divide the rest of my calories between fats and carbs. It works out to roughly thirds of…
  • Is there something you do that makes you feel so "clean" inside that you don't WANT processed food? If so, do a lot of it. For example, I've found that brushing/flossing my teeth makes me not want to "mess up my mouth" with food. So when I have a craving, I go brush my teeth and have a glass of water. Helps with the…
  • So, a couple of things I notice from your posts. You say your calories range from 1500-1800 with HIIT and resistance training. Well I'm a 52F at 5'8" 149lbs, and I usually MAINTAIN right around 1500 not counting exercise. I do strength training 3X/wk with cardio (swimming/elliptical/treadmill) another 2-3X/wk. Usually…
  • Do you actually WANT to slow down? I'm not trying to be obnoxious by asking that. I read your post, and you're obviously asking for help slowing down. I just wonder if maybe this is more of a thing where you think you SHOULD want to slow down but deep down you don't really WANT to. Like, you hear your wife's comments and…
  • Fantastic!! Progress photos are the BEST!! You deserve every bit of that smile.
  • What an encouraging post!
  • Oh, I thought of one more: I ate microgreens!! Me, a confirmed anti-veggie person, ate MICROGREENS and LIKED them!! My neighbor grows them to sell, and he gave me a bunch. I only accepted them to be nice, but I felt obligated to at least TRY them. So I googled some recipes. I made a banana smoothie that tasted pretty good…
  • I have a few today: 1.) I just hit 800 consecutive days on MFP, so I took a trip down memory lane. I've been in maintenance since October 2021, and I haven't sized out of my range since then. Right now I'm up a couple of pounds, but still in range. The next NSV is that I'm already making the adjustment to drop those few…
  • Today I wore skinny jeans over my gym leggings. These used to be my goal jeans. Now, even over leggings, they were only tight in the calves where I've gained muscle.
  • Bump I just reread this thread. It has always been inspiring to me, so I wanted to make sure others saw it as well. Cheers to springlering62...I really appreciate what you bring to MFP.
  • When I get a discrepancy like that, I usually adjust the logged time to make the calories match the lower number from the gym equipment. Or, maybe I split the difference if I think the gym machine underestimated. Basically, I'd rather underestimate my exercise calories than go over, and I monkey with the minutes to make it…
  • After a year at my goal weight, I finally got up the nerve to give two bags of larger sized clothes that I'd been holding onto "just in case." They're going to a darling lady who is thrilled to get them. Her enthusiasm gave me the push I needed.
  • I can see it, too! That's such a good feeling to like your face in the mirror. Congratulations! You're smart to go ahead and lose the freshmen fifteen before it become the graduate's thirty. I wish I'd tackled the issue like you have instead of letting my weight creep up little by little until it was a big number to lose.…
  • I have shin muscles. I didn't even know shins HAD muscles.
  • I bought new running shoes and didn't need the wide size anymore. My feet have shrunk enough to feel just as good in the mediums which are easier to find.
  • My advice is to log as best you can even though you know it isn't accurate. Plan the night before which meals will be your big ones, and which you plan to be careful about. I agree with the poster who said take the stairs as much as possible. And be deliberately inefficient about walking places like your cabin. You can get…
  • Today I went to put on some sandals with ankle straps, and I had to use a new hole to buckle them because the old one was too big. It still amazes me to think I've lot weight in my ANKLES!! The body is a mysterious thing.
  • My NSV is I wore a necklace today, and it looked GOOD!! I've always avoided necklaces because my neck is short and they looked/felt terrible on me. But today I fished out one that someone gave me, put it on, and rocked it! Having a slimmer neck makes a huge difference.
  • Even with the heatwave we're having I was still able to enjoy my walk in the park yesterday. Heat just doesn't bother me the way it did forty pounds ago. So that's one NSV. The second is this: last Summer my NSV was being able to buy my tank tops in the boy's section at Walmart at $2.97 instead of having to order Women's…
